One of the nice things about being a Yugioh player is that fake Yugioh cards look like they were made by a blind man in a warehouse basement.
For the old fakes, yeah they were super obvious. I doubt you will ever start to see deepfakes like this for the modern cards people actually play, but for old sets that have high collectors values starting to crop up like LOB and Metal Raiders I can all but assure you that we will start seeing counterfeits of this degree or better.
I remember getting some fakes when i was a kid in like 2007 n u could easily tell, this is crazy
Yeah, I'm a magic player and most people in that community would of shut it down in a heartbeat at the very first sign of a red flag.

@@luckysevens6852 They do but Its still pretty easy to tell when compared to a legit card. The way light reflects off the cards, the durability of the material are all obvious signs that are very easy to tell in person.

And this is exactly why I'm a casual card enthusiast. I can get just as happy with a basic pokemon card with a new or cute/interesting artwork and only spend MAYBE $40 a month. Any holo pulled results in the happiness dance and ceremonial sleeving. Works for me and my fam, we aren't crazy about investing in it, don't have any plans to trade or compete in battles, just fans of the Pokemon themselves.

Some card venders have missprints that get passed along production and miss major steps. I know this because I was a production manager it looks like this was a pre print that was post production that was sent ahead without any thought...
@@macauley4466 those counterfeits are garbage. There's some super high quality ones available on AliExpress that have black cores, pass most tests including light test, the only way to tell if they're real is by using a jewler's loupe to look at the fine details that are hard to replicate. The ones in this video look like they were printed off around 2010 or so. They're definitely good, but a trained eye can see the obvious difference in text size and alignment. The latest batch of fakes I ordered were nearly perfect macroscopically, had to bust out the loupe to check them and they're spot on aside from some of the text/symbol edges.
Pokerev is one of those guys that does right by the community. He investigated, didnβt give a bs answer, and shut it down and refunded after the misfortune of finding out theyβre fake. We love you pokerev keep it up!
I don't know much about Pokemon cards but I enjoy collecting magic, especially sealed. Heart breaking man... I recently had two kamigawa boxes that were 100% resealed but thankfully I video taped myself opening the package from start to finish and it was so obvious even a frame from the video would show a person who's opened more than a couple magic packs it was resealed. It's tough man

One of my rule of thumb, if the cards are glossy, it's fake, and that was literally one of the first thing I noticed.
If the art looks really weird tho, it might be a card from the so called "Vending series"

Very good video and catch, and I salute you for keeping the video going to your viewers to show that you weren't trying to hide or be shady about anything. As well promising everyone their money back. To me the contrast is different but the fake one where the two stars are near the bottom the white is totally in a different area even though you said it could be a printing issue. But you are correct the fakes were way too blurry compared to your PSA 10. Too me I thought the picture of the two you were comparing the top left part of the picture was off and was cut off a little. But you are right as well again about the cards being glossy. For some reason I was sent 4 boxes of Darkness Ablaze that I never ordered but somehow, they were delivered to me when I only visited the site but never ordered due to the prices and being skeptical. You have taught me so much when I decided to get into this hobby to collect and invest in for years later to come like you said in your earlier videos, to set it and forget it. I try to only buy from reputable sites, but you have taught me how to not trust Ebay as well about people hacking accounts, to mystery boxes. I have never been a fan of those, but unfortunately bought some from TCG and other reputable seller's that I thought were good but now am worried and will be inspecting any goods that I buy from Ebay or anywhere else. So now the mystery boxes that I have purchased and was going to put away, I now want to open to make sure that I wasn't scammed. I did order two mystery boxes that guaranteed to include at least one pack from 2009-2012. Which now I am worried and suspect that those packs are probably weighed and is the reason why these sellers make these boxes because they are giving me the packs that weigh less and gave me the one's they wanted. I am not sure what I am going to do now, maybe just keep the packs just for show and display, rather than opening them. Thanks for all your knowledge and content. Just know I will always do what you have suggested going further to help me ensure I am not getting scammed! I salute you and keep the great videos coming, never give up or be discouraged. We need to figure out a way to stop the scammer's so that this cannot happen anymore as hard it maybe but the community needs to come together and think of something!

This video was my first time in the pokecave after it appeared in my recommended. The way you handled this situation said a lot about your character which got me interested in your other videos and ultimately led to me becoming a member and participating in your live openings. Just got to the end myself, the whole cards are usually foil, I've removed them before on genuine cards, and that's how you get holo bleed, but would normally be printed on, not a sticker lol
I don't know how the new ones are made but the old cards are only foiled in several areas so only where it is necessary.
And it's seems like they have the same pattern as the genuine neo ones so.. they didn't use new holofoil.. so.. they faked it
Scammers really are just the worst. Itβs like coming home to find out your house has been broken into and a bunch of stuff stolen. Nothing worse. And those few minutes of optimism and hope that maybe itβs just a bad seal from the factory or whatever. Just trying to hold onto the tiniest bit of Hope while the actuality that you know youβve been duped/screwed is undeniable and screaming at you in your head. Just the worst thing ever. Canβt even imagine how it would feel being live on KRplus revealing it in front of an audience, let alone an audience of people that also paid for them and are also holding out hope for it to not be true. So sorry for you bro. Obviously no one had anything to worry about because you are a stand up guy and immediately refund everyone. But for you itβs just the worst. And I donβt know how it ended up for you but I really hope you were able to get your money back also.

Some of the best fakes I ever saw was in Mexico. The cards honestly felt and looked exactly the same and that was early 2010s. I can only imagine them now
Sometimes there are bubbles of criminal genius in some places of the world that are so sophisticated in the art of forgery that we can be lucky that those are often contained inside of their respective country's borders and don't have either brain or capacity to export.

Holo Japanese are like sticker the only difference is the should leave no holo on it it should be white on it when you break it and you should be able to see blue in the middle instead of black like the American cards are

This video still blows my mind over a year later, Iβll never forget this live stream.
Here is a compilation if things I noticed and are to look out for:
1. Burred Packs
2. Sealing Areas of the Pack Cover itself was lower than usual.
3. Opened/Improper Sealing off the Packs
4. The Pack Sealing Marks were much larger.
5. Horrible Centerings of the Cards
6. Card Order of the packs were often in the exact same order.
7. Color and Gloss
8. Text on cards were misplaced, look at the text of an attack and then the attack value, the attack values positioning was incorrect.
9. Text Spacing was off, in this case so close that the HP 50 was instead like HP50 where the P and the 5 was touching each other.
10. The 5 was different in the HP 50, the font was more curved at the bottom where the original was not, pay very close attention to that 5.
11. Blur on Cards, displacement or odd features of various marks, such as the card generation indicator, the evolution indicator.
12. Texture and Feel
13. Holo failing the Rip test.

I'll still try to collect. Just can't buy anything online anymore. Yard sales and garage sales, flea markets ect and graded products only at this point. I got ripped off on a few mystery boxes on amazon and its just bad that if you don't personally get the item yourself in store its most likely resealed.
Yup i've also noticed this. So many people just getting into pokemon because they saw in logan pauls video that there's a lot of money in the hobby.
Quite sure this box has been faked ages ago, not anything recent. Stories have surfaced for very convincing japanese neo fakes few years back.
This is the reason I can't buy boxes of boosters for me and my sister too open anymore. We loved sitting down every now and then and opening packs seeing who got the best pulls in the box tallying up the value like a game. Spending ages sorting them all and filling our collection books up. Making decks and trading our new cards. Was loads of fun getting a box full.
But, I just don't trust buying them anymore. We just get a couple of packs from the store every time I vist her. its not the same as getting into a box and isn't as exciting but, it beats the disappointment of opening fakes.
you can tell many many differences on the cyndaquil cards at 25:00 - especially the lines and lettering or symobol, differences, and thickness in inking.

tbf... People were scamming boxes since the start. It became a bigger issue after 2010 starting with base set in english and Neo in Japanese.
This is getting as bad as another hobby of mine. Hot Wheels. Scalpers buying up all the premium cars by having friends on the inside of Walmart , Target, and so on that hold the cars in the back or go through them before they reach the floor. End up on Ebay for 10-20X the price. It's not even fun anymore.

Why are people in the PokΓ©mon community reselling these empty packs and boxes? What did you guys think would happen. If youβre a PokΓ©mon Enthusiast do you go out buying packs to collect them? Explain why. Booster boxes I understand.

Itβs so crazy seeing this happen. My son just got into PokΓ©mon cards so I was thinking about starting a channel for him where we do pack openings and this scares me. I noticed after just a few packs they were in the same order. Sucks this happened man..

I am a graphic designer and had to rebuild a lot of graphics/Logos for jobs so i know how much work it is to rebuild something like this. Altough i saw the differences in the fonts pretty fast it is really scary how much effort they put into faking these cards... But as always criminals dont know limits... You handled the situation really good and i hope you get refunded somehow!

I love how people think he was in denial. He knew the moment he opened them but had to keep going for the sake of the video. That's just his attitude! He even said at the beginning people were gonna get refunds.

its like with shoe replicas, over time they have gotten so good that if the replica is gonna be indistinguishable, or almost indistinguishable from the og, the price is still gonna be really high

The trouble is the fakers will invest more money into making heathers cards look just as good if not better than the originals.
I remember seeing a program years ago where this dude made a load of copy pottery or some shit and even the art experts couldnβt tell what was fake or real.

Working at a print shop for 7 years taught me that when you scan an object and then print it digitally, it thickens all the lines and makes them bolder.. they are all in the same order bc they were printed off and stacked before cutting...
I think you're right. The fake one looks a tad bit bigger/bolder in certain areas.
100% correct look at the set symbol the lines on the stars are way to thick.

It hurts to see, especially because this isnβt from one guy sitting in a room faking one card. Itβs most likely a bigger βcompanyβ printing tons of those cards. Who knows how many people bought the exact same fake box.

Man it sucks these things happen but also it makes for a pretty entertaining video its like a bad dream especially with the card order repeating and the slow realization it makes you feel like you're about to wake up from a nightmare but you never do xD very epic
I think that booster box was put together for the packs to be sold individually and nobody would have been any of the wiser.
