      The generation?....... most people in that generation were programmed..... they just didn't understand the program..... what band was Collins in?..... Genesis...... hmmmm.... why did they pick that name..... Collins is a freemason... like most well know singers in bands like that.... the police, Queen.... get the gist?.... what's the lyrics telling you?..... look to other band lyrics..... Queen one Vision.... John Lennon Imagine.... the police... every breath you take.... what is it telling you..... freemasons are Luciferians.... new world order..... communist..... in your face.... and the lyrics are in all those songs, bands and singers.... "the pack of lies"..... religion....

    His spine is deteriorating due to an injury, plus he has other issues such as, debilitating pancreatitis and diabetes.
    Phil won't be performing again, most likely.
    During his last performance, his son, Nic, had to play the drums.
    Phil Collins will always be one of the best drummers and pianist this world has ever seen.

She asked if I had plans for the evening. I said no, so she gave me BOX SEATS to PHIL COLLINS! The concert was that night in town, and it was a private box. It was SO amazing. This track was honestly a landmark in music production, Phil Collins and co spent years trying to figure out how to make digital reverb on drums to create that iconic 80s gated reverb sound. This was a monumental jump forward in the way production treated drumming in the mix. Without this jump there would be no hip hop, no electronic music, music as we know it would be completely different. This song is massive in its impact on music production.

      And one of the craziest things is, the drums were recorded through the room mic, a low level microphone hanging in the ceiling of most studios used to amplify the musicians voices in between takes to enable conversation between the audio engineer and the band on the fly. It's what gives the drums this iconic raw distortion.

    • @MrFester63
      @MrFester63 년 전 +8

      That iconic sound actually started as a goof, they left a (general) studio mike on by accident while Phil was playing. The pick-up of a non-dedicated mike gave it a unique signature, and the rest is history. Love it!

    • @jdice6868

      He caught a lot of flack for using electronic drums before most drummers and using the recording to manipulate the sound. The first one through always gets bloody! I was a huge Genesis fan growing up, though they were a bit before my time. I'm one of the few that never felt the need to pick Phil or Peter. Many love one and hate the other. I love them both. The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway is a masterpiece, but so is the live Seconds Out with a lot of songs Peter sang originally! A Trick of the Tail is my favorite though, and of course Follow You Follow Me is my wedding song:)

    Pretty much everyone being an 80s teen were so fortunate to experience the incredible shift-over from great classic rock artists to such talented, memorable, and enduring musicians and groups of the era for pop, rock, punk rock, early Rap, early "Alternative". Phil Collins was a key leader in this period; considered by many within the top 25 best drummers of all time, dubbed The Human Metronome. His music has played key elements in many movies and there is rarely a day that his timeless musicianship isn't heard on the radio still more than 30 years later. This live performance rendition is superb , and, emotes powerful feelings. Even more incredible was being so fortunate to seeing him 2 times live in the 80s and early 90s solo and 1 time in a reunion tour with Genesis while they were still very much at a prolonged peak. There are so few artists, while exceptionally talented in the current ages, that will have such enduring musical influence. While some songs are simple fun poppy in nature, his extensive variety of songs also delve into social and personal struggles, world changes, longing, love, struggle, loss... We are blessed to have had him as a musical influence extending across two generations. May he find peace in his health and personal struggles after having given so much of himself to us.

      This song was about his divorce and very painful for him to write and sing.The audience on this song was worried that he wouldn't make it to his drums in time --- they always are -- that's why Phil turns and says " Don't worry " every performance.Phil Collins is sheer genius !
      As a BeeGees lover too , I have to point out that once Phil was on drums at one of their big outdoor concerts at Wembley Stadium in London --- unannounced.They all were friends and admirers of each others' music.

      The song was written around the time of his divorce, but Phil says it was NOT specifically about his divorce. Phil composes songs by making up words that fit with the music he composes first. There are a lot of false urban myths about this song. If you Google it, you can find some Phil interviews where he explains it. You may be thinking about his song I Don't Care Anymore, which IS directly about his breakup.

      The 70s were the great decade of creativity, exploration and Progressive Rock. Phil was in the greatest Progressive Rock band ever, imo, Genesis. From 1971 on, as drummer and then drummer and lead singer, Genesis was at the peak of their creativity in the 70s. Selling England, The Lamb, Trick of the Tail, Wind and Wuthering. All masterpieces, works of art. I was still a huge Genesis fan throughout their entire career, but Genesis wasn't as creative and Progressive in the 80s and 90s as they were in the 70s. That's because Phil exercised more influence on the song writing and music when he started his solo career in the early 80s. Phil veered more toward standard pop, he liked brass, Motown, so his output veered more toward soft rock and pop. I liked a lot of his solo output, saw him live 4 times with his solo band, but his Genesis output, such as Los Endos, was the killer creative and progressive stuff. I saw Genesis 10 times. In the Air Tonight is definitely his best song, and Genesis considered it for the Duke or Abacab album, but made the mistake of not using it, so Phil put it on his first solo album. There is no doubt Phil was a great artist and along with Bill Bruford, one of the greatest drummers of the last 50+ years. Its his drumming I'll miss the most.
