It’s CRAZY looking back at Porter’s progression as an artist -> from Say My Name, to crashing the Beatport servers with his Spitfire EP; releasing Language and Easy; his first album Worlds (has it seriously been 5 years already!?); and don’t forget about Shelter (not that you could). FINALLY WE’RE HERE! Every one of these moments has been so monumental! As a fellow producer/listener of electronic music, I can’t help but come back to his music time and time again to listen to everything he’s put out, and I am still blown away and completely inspired after all these years.

I heard this song after I graduated from college. Unfortunately me and my group mates from our thesis, who are also my good friends, were late and we never made it to our graduation ceremony. The 4 of us were somewhat lazy but we procrastinate a lot. Despite the odds we never gave up no matter how long it took. Lots of rewriting the papers, having to get ourselves roasted by our Thesis Panels and our Thesis teacher, we were on the verge of wanting to stop but our leader reminded us that we came so far. So after a lot of talking to our adviser, all that stuff I mentioned and pur final defense, in technicality, we are finally graduates. Though we didn't step on stage ceremoniously, but it was good to know thay it was all over.
Then I heard this song with the lyrics "Don't say you lose just yet, get up and move ahead and not only for yourself." 4 lazy, procrastinating college students manage to graduate despite not being able to step on stage, ceremoniously receiving a piece of paper. That's alright, majority of us do hate ceremonies like that anyway, and, looking at the bright side, we didn't spend anything for the ceremony. But, really, it's that feeling of freedom that we got and this song emphasizes that feeling and it keeps my feet on the ground in a way. Reminding me that achievements will only take me so far. I need to hop off that horse and walk with my own feet. What I do with those steps ahead will always remain a mystery.

It’s really surreal to see Porter confront his success so openly like this. This song is so vulnerable, literally asking himself how it felt to have a masterpiece album and everything he wanted but still feeling broken. I can’t imagine what it must’ve been like to reach that peak but to be unfulfilled. Then realizing after all this time that making music isn’t about the creator, but about the listener, it’s about sharing your work with the world. Not having them love you or idolize you, but to bring others happiness. Really excited for this album. Thanks Porter!

Overall demotivation?). The line before it ("how it felt when you walked on water, did you get your wish?") + The lines in the verse prior ("but if glory makes you happy why are you so broken up?") Being like, "you got what you wanted, fame and popularity and recognition, you "floated up and walked on water", is this what you wanted? Why are you still broken up?"
True, "Look at the Sky" has some of the best lyrics I've ever read from any "pop" song, like to the point where the rest of the song isn't really able to hold up to it.
for me it's more something to the lines of "you gave up, but whatever lies beneath you doesn't let you hit rock button"
One of the things I love about Porter's songwriting on this track is how its themes and message extend beyond the struggles of being a creative. The feelings Porter conveys here are universal. To a certain extent, everybody who has experienced some degree of success - whether that's defined externally in societal, material terms or internally through emotional fulfillment or a sense of self-actualization - reaches a point where they feel inadequate or inferior to their past self. Struggling to reconcile who you are today with who you have been is difficult and often depressing. We have to love ourselves enough to not let our insecurities rule our lives. We have to "get up and move ahead" and ultimately realize that achieving success or acclaim isn't the point of our lives; it's to share our passions and finite time with the people we care about.

Just want to say whoever wrote the Chinese translation of the lyrics deserves a medal. It not only retains Porter’s original idea, but reads like poetry. That is not an easy feat.
Edit: This is referring to the simplified version, the traditional Chinese lyrics is more of a literal translation of the song.

Inflexuhty he literally said in an interview that’ the main idea behind worlds is the world within each one of us. The rest of the “story” is up for the individual to interpret. “Every place you've ever imagined, it's real. There is a fictional city in your mind, and you know every corner of it. Your mind is a world. Each one of us is a place.” There’s really no other way to interpret that honestly.

Porter Robinson has changed my life 6 years ago when I heard his Worlds album. And now, he’s gonna change my life again this year. I really can’t wait man.
His music basically saved my life as a Sophomore in High School, if it weren't for Worlds, I'd either be dead by my own hand, or a totally different person. It completely changed my perspective on life. I can't imagine my life without Worlds. Seeing this news yesterday, I immediately started crying. I'm now 21 and he's releasing the album the year I get married. It couldn't be more perfect.

Porter's songs never sound unoriginal or repetitive. This song has so many beautiful instruments and sounds. Very uplifting and motivating song (kinda feels cliche to call music motivational but that's what I feel). And personally some of this song's elements make this song sound a bit nostalgic.

Porter’s sound is always ingenious but I love how cleverly written the lyrics are.
The hook stayed the same throughout the song yet it brings two different meanings because of the verse before it. In the 1st verse, the hook basically says ‘All of the work you’ve done and you’re still not satisfied; maybe you should look outwards and reflect on what’s important to you’. Whereas in the 2nd verse, it means ‘All the hardships you went through and you still preserved; how sweet does that success taste like?’
I got chills the first time listening to this track but when I finally gave it a proper listen is when it really stuck. The song makes the most sense for a creative but really a lot of people can resonate with it and that’s what makes this song even more special to me.
This is beautiful. Where Worlds was Porter building a universe for us, nurture is gonna be an introspective deep-dive into the aftermath of what comes with the success of such an accomplishment, and the pressure and expectation to create more. I feel incredibly appreciative about how vulnerable and honest Porter is as an artist.

See this is one of the real artist, who doesn't just make a bunch of random pop songs with no real meaning behind them, his has a lot of emotion, real emotion. Ever since I heard his song goodbye to a world I have been a big fan, and listening to this song and every other one since then has made me an even bigger fan.

This album has been such an inspiration to me. I discovered "worlds" late 2019 and absolutely fell for sad machine and goodbye to a world only a month or two before this and nurture singles started dropping. The instrumentals are straight up ethereal and every time I look at the lyrics it feels like a journey of its own, thank you
I discovered Porter around the same time from Goodbye to a World autoplaying, crazy that I got to hear every Nurture single right when it dropped. Nurture got me through the very awful last couple months of my high school experience.
Nurture is easily my favourite album as of now

everyone is saying his style changed, but I don’t see any changes at all. the intro is very much porter, drop is very much porter, vocals are very much porter. has a hint of japanese jazz, and the intro sounds straight out of pokemon mystery dungeon. still that same synthy dreamy vibe.

I discovered this through the Essenger cover when it came out, but it was only recently when I paid more attention to the lyrics that I started listening to the original as well as the rest of Nurture. It really helped guide me through some shit. And I've had bad associations between great songs and hard times before, but this time was different. I've only started listening to your music in the last few days and I've never felt music hit so close to home until now. Seriously, thank you.

It's gotta be more than pitch.
I'd say there was definitely some LittleAlterBoy for the pitch and format, a touch of vocoder for some thickening and depth, Melodyne for that rapid "Auto-tuney" note changing, and maybe some distortion like Decapitator or something from Eventide to glue things together + aesthetic.
Just a wild guess, probably completely wrong.
