brunson is actually very good. Very few people can even the playing field or neutralize certain aspects of speed fighters like that. Plant is very fast and has some very interesting foot work, and Brunson has knowledge on how to make plant hittable. Watch other plant fights and see how he completely dances all over the opponent, and then watch this one. He doesn't get away with nearly as much in this fight. I should do an analysis for this video..

exactly. really a lot of his publicity comes from his Willie pep/Floyd mayweather/ pernell Whittaker effect. sadly, a lot of fighters like him get accused of running. good for him that he got to show off how he mixes his defense with his offence

Good fight so far. Halfway through the fight and some hard shots from both guys. One thing that caught my eye was how the referee watched Brunson throughout the first half. Never takes his eyes off him. Pays no attention to Plant at all. Never seen a ref do that.

Stewie!! Your are a savage. I’m beginning to think you watch these fights and don’t even watch the boxers you just look for other things to point out. He’s infamous for commenting on something other then the boxing. Usually mentions the commentators bias, the incompetent referees, and the obvious horrible judging decisions based on outside influences that everyone including the fighters know exists. It’s quite entertaining to scroll through the comments and then see the grey bearded bearded beast looking to the left (his right) it’s the only reason I know it’s him because of the picture. I love boxing so I watch a lot of fights. He is the most active commenter and 90% of them point out someone’s incompetence that pissed him off. The best are the HBO fights especially when they still let the idiot Larry merchant do the fights. Love ya Stewie! Keep fighting the good fight brother, you are educating the rest of us definitely!

I liked the technique of the men at times. Both showed the fundamentals of boxing in their unique ways. They used built in defense,foot work, the jab,rolling with the punches etc etc.
No chance against Canelo.. Canelo going to be patient and dodge all those punches and then wait for the right moments to counter back ... Caleb is going to get dropped for sure once or twice .. and he’s going to get a whoopin! I can see the reff stopping it
Plants got good offense and good defense the noises he makes when he punches instead of just breathing are annoying he sounds like a tennis player

i can't believe Plant beat this guy.. Tyrone brunson has sledgehammers for hands.
But really the difference I see is One Factor - Caleb plant brings his hands back to his guard as quickly as he throws them. So rarely is he open for punishment. Brunson's return to his defense is delayed
Make them miss, make them pay. Brunson only knows the first half of that concept.

I quickly get tired of Plant's ducking and bending over defense. It gets boring. I prefer watching fighters with defense that allows offense to flow immediately afterward. i.e.: Terence Crawford or Oleksandr Usyk.

To take a page from my boy Stewie earlier I thought I might try and observe something other than the actual action that made the fight less enjoyable to watch. The days of the honest insightful and entertaining color commentators died with Emmanuel Steward. When he was working a fight he would actually make boring fights entertaining. Nowadays I’m entertained by the action so it was kind of hard to not pay attention to the action. However I was able to find some things. First they shouldn’t put a microphone in front of the Charlos unless they’re wearing an earpiece being told what to say. 19:43 “ he showed a lot of his smartness". Saying shit like that is going to tell people when they lose fights it’s because of their intelligence and not ability. I wonder if either one of them read a book cover to cover? I might sound like an asshole right now but I’m a fan of the Charlos. But their brand takes a hit when they learn the fighter is essentially all strength and physical ability with zero intellect. Doesn’t matter how hard you hit and how well you move, the best fighters are intelligent. Boxing is hitting while avoid being hit. Their whole strategy is based on strength and power. When a guy comes along that knows how to block second take a punch it’ll be proven that hype is real. Second thing I noticed, I can’t remember Ray Leonard offering anything suggesting he is an expert. His commentating is so general and bland i’m quite sure I could do his job better and I’ll do it for half what they pay Ray. You could literally play a VHS of him doing fights with HBO in the 80s versus this and and bleeped out when he mentions names you wouldn’t know which fight he’s calling. He recycles things over and over and over again throughout the fight and also did it throughout the last 30 years. Like why is he wearing a headset, you could take a descent boxing fan out of the stands and put him in the seat and he would offer more than Ray. I’m not one to complain about the commentating but I wanted to see if I could notice it if I looked for it. I just wonder why they still pay him to do fights.
Yea Ray's commentary skills are not his best attributes...and talking Or explaining is not either of the charlos best quality by far...there both young&dumb &wild but thats wat kind of makes them, them.
