I never thought I would be so impressed by an avatar grabbing a spoon out of a draw for cooking but here we are.

I started playing the sims 2 like a month ago and the first time I saw the animations I was like "wow i could spend the rest of my day just watching them cook 👁️👄👁️"

it's really interesting to see that the sims2 stuff is not only more detailed but also takes more time. maybe that's why sims4 feels easier, just because doing everything goes way faster. they even take less time eating than sims2

Feels like Sims4 is a building & making avatar simulator but when you actually play it, it's just bold. Meanwhile Sims2 might have worse graphic and you can do "less" but it's more much contentful and your sims has more personality and doesn't feel like you're playing with lifeless dolls.

Without a color wheel and only like 12 haircolors it doesn’t feel like a avatar simulator too. It’s so limited in every possible way it’s crazy.
That’s a good way of putting it. My biggest turn off with Sims 4 is how lifeless it is. Like, the NPCs in previous titles all had varying personalities, but in Sims 4, they just feel hollow.

I love the calmness of Sims 2 the white noise in the background does well to immerse you completely into the world. It doesn’t feel as cold and stale as sims 4 does.

The sims Team got half ther stuff fired becaus of These thibgs ruing some lifes to make ts2. Thats why ther so strict on Budget now. EA didnt pay the staff after gping over Budget in ts2 . Ther wher punished for making ts2 by EA.
You can jump in piles of leaves and have fires with them in the Sims 4 as well. You just have to rake them into a pile first

@@rechan12read the comment again. The Sims 2 was released in 2004. The Sims 4 in 2014. It is now 2024 and The Sims 4 is still the contemporary version being updated regularly. William above said "current state" which means he is comparing to the now - 2024. That makes 20 years and not 10.
I noticed how creepy the sims 4 is, the sims make random emotion noises all the time, laugh randomly, etc, they don't even say words they grunt and laugh. What the hell is that, they do feel like lifeless dolls, which is the complete opposite point of a sims game... but okay, EA

At 10:30 The Sims 4 Sim has this creepy smiling expression while doing the motions and grunts of a woman complaining that the coffee wasn't done immediately. Her expression shouldn't be like that unless it's supposed to be a horror scene of some kind. Have them at least drop their smile while they get anxious about the coffee taking a while, EA.

I really dislike how they made the sims in the sims 4 animations look so goofy. Like, there is an adult making something or acting like a child. I can't take ts4 seriously

The sims was always kind of a goofy game but it was also funny and charming. Now they somehow made sims to be goofy but without any charm or personality (or much less personality at least).

Well the reason they want a very different art style was people wanted the cartoonist of Sims 2 and they wanted to over highlight the emotions system. Sims 3 was constantly shitted on for their graphics trying to hard to be realistic

How TS4 managed to make a jetski in a pool look boring is beyond me...
I loved watching my sims 2 do things, they had different ingredients for each recipe, they took things out of drawers and cupboards to do things, they could put something in the oven and leave to do something else for a while (though if they didn't come back in time the oven would get set on fire), if you made them sit still for a while they would fidget in fun ways, if they were near someone they liked on the couch or in bed they would get closer to them, it felt as if they were really doing those things, and had awareness of others around them, there were always seemingly random little quirks to notice. In the sims 4 objects appear and disappear as needed in a poof of smoke, even sims, there are animations that have people scoot close to each other but once the animation is over they go back to being separate, ... honestly sims 4 are just boring to watch. There's more to do in sims 4 but it's not as fun watching them do it. Honestly if I could play sims 4 but have sims 2 basic animations I would be so happy.

Sims 2 animations have aged really well. They are still a pleasure to watch.
Even if it has technological limitations in comparison to newer Sims games it still has so much more personality in the animations alone.

My husband knows nothing at all about the sims. He had both games completely flipped in this video. He thought the old was the new and the new was the old, simply because of the attention to detail.
I can’t get over how in thesims4 they’re always smiling or happy it just feels so fake and stale. in thesims2 they feel so real. It’s the little imperfections that gives it so much life, heck even the scooting in chair gives it that realness I love
I wonder if it's more an issue of the Sims 4 team having very low quality talent when it comes to staff animators and modelers or if it's an issue of over working what staff they have.
More like rushed time and EA intentionally cock blocking the devs. ( someone checked the items in a certain pack, it seemed pretty damn odd that they stopped at 199 items in said pack. Almost as if there’s an artificial limit on how many they could actually add per pack.)
I think it's more that sims 2 was a passion project following an unexpected success, and sims 4 is a game rushed out in installments to generate revinue

Wow, that is impressive how much better it is in details. I love it and I wish I had sims 2 again. Brings back so many good memories. I miss the sounds, they were more realistic and so were the sims in general. When she was eating, she even made chomping noises. It’s like nobody on the sims 4 team has ever played any sims before the 4th one.

Seriously, sims 4 has no excuse for lacking so much gameplay wise. Semi-open world is not the issue, it just doesn't have the charm of sims 2. They don't even have cars!

Sims 2 is and always be my favorite iteration of the Sims. That said, I do think it's worth noting that you can make much bigger leave piles in Sims 4, you just gotta take more. And then options for playing in and burning the pile come up.

Sims 2 is nearly 20 years old and yet i still prefer it over sims 4. Sims 2 is a really well done game all the way around and it's aged extremely well too. There's a sort of magic about it.

I think I'm less worried about remastered sims 4 graphics and more a perfected version of the graphics in the Sims 2. I like the aesthetic choices about the models, some of them could just use a little more shaping.
All you needed was a video of a sim taking a baby/toddler out of the highchair and then putting them in bed with one click in TS2 and about 20 clicks in TS4.
Serving the family food at the table.
Having a water balloon fight.
Getting a sim to join an activity.
Teaching a toddler to use stacking toys, or shape sorter.

Don't forget. In Sims 2 this is not the only animation when sims are eating. If your sim is cleaner (due to personality), it is not gonna eat like 7:55.
Also, the hair in the Sims 2 have movement. When you are in the CAS or stylist and you rotate the sim, the hair always move (this is the best form to see the dynamic hair, but you can see it everytime your sim does something).
Also, the dynamic animations are on the comfy objects. When the sim sits on a sofa or rest in a bed, the object have an animation for the weight. You can see it also when the kids jump in the bed.

You missed playing Marco Polo in the pool in Sims 2. Once your sim is in the pool click on another sim and ask to play.
The thing that annoys me about Sims 4 cooking/coffee is how childish the animations are. They stir and pour like they are 3 years old and don't know how to control a spoon or how high to lift a coffee pot. Never understood why they thought such exaggerated animations were good.
I guess I will be sticking with Sims 2 forever.

Actually my grandmother puts eggs in her Mac and cheese and it greatly improves the texture. It only works for baked Mac and cheese, not the stove top kind

I miss little details and 6:12 animations in Sims 2. It's been about 15-17 years since I played it. I also enjoy Sims 4 unlike most of the fan base. Only complaint about Sims 4 is I miss certain things like cuddling etc tht was in Sims 3. I also hate all of the loading screens other than tht I enjoy it.

I agree. The sims 2 is superior to all other sims games. Gameplay is simple, graphics have aged well and game looks great but it doesn’t need as much space and it loads pretty quickly. The sims 4 has few good things but it’s way too complicated to be as enjoyable. 🤔

The Sims was so ahead of it's time and everything was very intricate, I really enjoyed going back to it after years, and I still have fun and find myself playing for hours, the amount of love and care the creators had for this game is truly amazing.

I would understand for players who wants a more detail stuff closer to the real world but those are just the small detail that me personally don’t pay attention bc is just a game. The worse part is that the Sims 4 always have this goofy ass face on them, no matter what they do. This amongst other things (childish stupid animations while doing mundane things like cooking or hugging, for example), participates in the feeling of playing with dolls. It might not seem like a big deal but to me Sims 2 feels more mature. It feels like no bullshit ,whilst retaining child stuff and jokes in it. Sims 4 completely misses the mark and thinks its funny with its heavy badly handled jokes and references to things it doesn't understand. I don't care if we keep shitting on sims 4 and praising sims 2 and if it's a trend, it's true. Sims 2 is just superior despite being older.

Sims has lost the soul and meaningfulness to its gameplay. Sims 4 even with all of the DLC seems like it still gets boring after you make your Sim(s) and their house.
There was this sense of mystery and intrigue about the townies and the world in previous entries. I never really cared about any of the townies in Sims 4, theyre all so bland.
