Imma be honest. The Yu ghi oh characters were done so well, i low key wish they made an arena fighter for that series.

This game had so much potential

In my opinion what killed this game was the shared health. If it was more a 3v3 where they all had its own health it would’ve been better

I definitely think they should give this series another go, they know what needs attention and they know what doesn’t now

It’s most likely being delisted because of the contracts with different franchises

This reminds me of how Crossover Games are very popular in Japan. Many IPs aren't afraid to do crossovers, and one of the primest examples is Super Robot Wars, a Mecha Crossover Strategy which gathers a bunch of Mecha Anime Characters and put them in one game where they can interact with each other.
And then theres the one of the 3DS, to which I remember one thing, Majima seeing Tiki from Fire Emblem and saying "I would've jumped into the portal long ago had I known there was hot babes in another universe."

I think it's a fun game to play with a fellow fighting/anime friend. But it just doesn't last. I wanted to love this game to death and really hoped it got better support.

I still want more jump games hopefully they make more.
I really want a serious Shounen Jump RPG with characters from all their series.

Too bad they never released a version with all the DLC on the disc, since now a lot of it is unavailable

Everything that you described in the beginning of the video was done years ago with Jump Ultimate Stars on DS, then J-Stsrs Victory Vs on PS3 and PS4.

It sucks when crossovers like this flop so hard, all that time effort and money and negotiations to make everything come together without any chance of getting another swing at it to do it right again for a really long time if ever :/

This game had a lot of potential. The gameplay isn't bad and I actually have a decent amount of fun playing it against my friends. But it's not perfect and in some ways, leaves a lot to be desired. The visuals are just… bad. If the game had even a fraction of the visuals of what we've seen from the recent Budokai Tenkaichi teaser, it would've been 1000% better than what we got. I'm not gonna pretend a game like this could've had an amazing story, but almost anything could've been better than what we got. It needed more time to polish animations, fix the bugs and glitches, and much more. Also, the create a character is cool, but by the time this game came out, it felt played out so I would've personally not included it.
Also, fun fact for people who don't know, before Bleach came back with it's anime adaptation of the Thousand Year Blood War arc, this was actually the first time we saw Ichigo, Rukia, and Renji from the war arc, outside of the manga. So the stuff you seem them do in the game, hadn't even been adapted yet for people who only saw the anime. And if you didn't know that, that was a huge freaking deal!

The gameplay is fun and having like tons of characters from anime in one game was a cool idea but everything else made it bad

I hope they make a 55th anniversary game for Weekly Shonen Jump. They could improve upon Jump Force so much and add newer series such as Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen, Mission: Yozakura Family, Undead Unluck, Mashle, and Sakamoto Days.

Jump super stars / jump ultimate stars were the 2D predecessors to this game. Jump Ultimate Stars is a top fighting game of all time for me. Highly recommend if you haven’t checked it out.

I got this game shortly after launch and had a lot of fun with couch battles against friends. Working on the story mode though felt draining, I remember feeling like I had to either spam against or just get spammed.

I missed out on the last few of the DLC, but I’m glad to own the ones I did manage to get. Up until Todoroki, and then I just stopped paying attention to the game and hadn’t realized more characters had released, but by that time it was too late 😬 the completionist in me is pained by not having the entire roster, but Kaiba was the only one I even really cared about and he was first so that was perfect.
I wish Ryuk had made the roster, I know it wouldn’t have made much sense for him to fight, but it would have been a cool “what if?” Situation.

I actually liked this game for all of its flaws. It has since been delisted due to all the licenses expiring. 2024 is Jump's 55th anniversary, so hopefully we get an announcement for the next game soon. A sequel was teased during the final post-game missions. I thought we would have gotten a reveal during Summer Game Fest, as Microsoft's E3 showcase was when Jump Force was revealed. Maybe we'll see it at Gamescom or Tokyo Game Show. Also, those Jump Stars Ultimax "leaks" are totally bogus.

This game is not as bad as folks made it out to be. I genuinely had fun and still have fun playing it 🤷🏿‍♂️

My son really likes this game on the ps4. We never bought any of the dlc so my son was bummed he couldn’t get the extra characters. thanks for telling us about how the switch has some extra season one characters . Gotta get that version now.

One thing about how huge the lobby is, is that the game never mentions you can use vehicles to travel faster lol. I only ever learned about that when I was halfway into the story

Its the kind of game you pull out at a party when everyone is slightly drunk thats probably the time the game is at its best.

I remember pre ordering this at GameStop for PS4 and it came with a small booklet with all the characters, I have the digital version on the switch but honest I really didn’t play it that much… even when it first came out. I’ll have to give it another try and really finish the game this time.

Redownloaded tonight cus it’s a great couch multiplayer game. Even online when I was against cheesy sauske spammers you could still fight your way through it and alot of people didn’t want that kinda of challenge. It’a unfair forsure but it atleast gave people that weren’t that good a fighting chance 😂 and when you get accepted for multiple rematches it feels pretty great.

Since you watched DN just recently, kinda curious Matty, what did you think of the.. change in pace after a certain occurence after like Episode 26-ish?

Now, I only hope to see if I can find someone that someday might sell a dlc character pass 2 codd as I have not seen any.

i liked jumpforce. mainly for the story mode and character customization. it felt really good making a character that looked like me, and having my chatacter interact with everybody from shonen jump.
as far as the dlc goes i was disappointed in the end. i don't like paying for dlc in the 1st place, but if i had to i really wanted other characters to be in the game. yoh asakura, bobobo bo bo bobo, even that anime character stan lee made for shonen jump called ultimo.
i remember the trailer for this game and when they showed light and ryuk i really thought they were gonna let us play as them. i don't know how it would work, but i was disappointed that they didn't. lol

I think another big thing missing from the game is selectable/changeable iconic moves and outfits for the actual roster and not just the playable character. Like let me play different versions of characters with different moves (I.E. Ninja Storm)

Idk if you tried J Stars Victory + but this game is basically a "better" version of that game, I personally like J stars better for the art style. You should try it out, would make a good video.

We need a game with this type of roster but in the style of fighterz. 3v3 more traditional 2d game like fighterz with this roster would go crazy. But I’m being rather bias cus I’ve been wanting a traditional 2d one piece fighting game for awhile, I think you could do so much with that and one piece has a wild roster of characters that would work great in a competitive fighting game format

The reason you can see ryuk is because your character in the game technically died. My second theory is that the onyx books are death notes. Since your character has one of the cubes made from the onyx books that could be another reason you can see ryuk.

I remember buying Jump Force in Christmas 2020 with my xbox one and i don't have the dlc characters. But I did finish the game in 100% and max out too level 100. also I had fun with it and I still have my game copy and still play it till this day.

The thing I didn't like was the customizations. I wanted my character to have SOME original designs, I wanted to look like a badass that the main 3 needed help from, not madara from universe 313.

Just reinstalled this game and wow… playing ultra hard as dio with headphones on and the volume to the max with some music is just the BEST. Something about this game just completely sucks me in when I’m playing and it has my adrenaline up to the max, goated ass game

Had a lot of dumb fun with this game and enjoyed getting the 100% completion (for the most part). Those S Ranks were a real pain at times tho.

This game is still widely available in stores near me... my gamestop has a ton of copies... my Wal-Mart has new copies for like $10... so the not available in stores doesn't seem accurate

I got this game as a gift for Christmas 2019, and then got both of the fighter passes on PS4, and then I bought the game and all its DLC on PC, so I'm good.
Anyways, Hyoga, Shun and/or Ikki should've been in the game along with Kinnikuman and Joseph Joestar.
Other than that, the low budget story mode, and the uncanny artstyle, I don't mind this game. It's one of those fun couch multiplayer games.

I really loved playing this game. I made my OC have the shinobi movements and then made him be a better Shoto Todoroki by using only Fire and Ice elemental skills XD

I preordered the collectors edition of this game just for the statue. I hardly played the game though.

The loading time really takes a lot out of the excitement since it loads cinematic to fights and back to cinematic. Then reloading the same amount of time when you're picking rematch.

I've never had combo issues in Jump force. If you go from light to heavy then super it's cake

The thing is that there is some fancier tech in the up close combat, but even if you do use that tech, you can still easily lose to spamming super attacks. There’s no incentive to use it when it does so little.

Legit I went back and got all the online trophies before the online servers shutdown. And I have all the dlc on PS4 and PC luckily before they got pulled. Ngl I thought it was fun playing with friends but everything else was kinda lacking.

They had a good idea and the fighting was very good but you could tell they didn't put their all into this game. Sadly this is how majority of anime games are treated

The game sold incredibly well (I'm not even joking, just look at the sales on google) it was delisted because of Dragon Quest Dai or Yugi and license right. These 2 mangas are not only Shueisha's property but also respectively Square Enix and Konami. So Bandai probably had to deal with a bigger and expensive contract in order to put Dai and Yugi/Kaiba in this game. This is the reason why the previous game (J-stars) is still avalaible despite having FAR less sales and popularity.
I still think the gameplay is far better than most of the 3D arena fighters, while I agree with you on the fact that it encourages cheese instead of skill, if you have played with good players (and I mean people who are still playing since 2019), you will see what is so good about the gameplay mechanics. A lot of things are not written in the tutorial, a lot of "combos" and synergy are only possible if you spent a lot of time in the training mode. Spamming super and square is only a beginner thing, this game is more about your position on the map (in order to dash or jump to dodge an attack) and mixes-up your opponent with light attack, heavys, down/up tilt, grab, supers to trick your opponent + other tech that the game doesn't tells you. Even escaping combo's ask the players to be good at timing and how/when to use efficiently stamina's bar. Without stamina you can't dash, escape, counter attack and you have only one "permutation/escape" before it get consummed.
PS : I hate the story mode and the Art direction of the game...

thats why i try to resist the "all digital era", preservation will allways have its role with games. even bad games get resurrected in the community. though i wouldn't be surprised if they delisted the game because a jumpforce 2 is on the way

They need to revive this game or make a new one with a genuinely good story to play and boost the online experience. As well as DLC characters like in this one but more more more.

Jump Force was one of those games I almost pulled the trigger on at launch. I'm so glad I waited to see what their plans were. As soon as I saw that they weren't going to dub it, it set off red flags. Then, there were the server issues being reported. It was a flop from the get-go.

J-stars Victory Vs.+ on PS4 is a pretty good anime fighter. Have you played it?

It's a similar game and it only came out a year or two before and I hear it's a little better

I wish we got more characters from other series characters like yugi and kaiba were nice but i would of loved to see medaka and ajimu. those two really have been swept under the rug when it comes to shonin
