It's very much funny that Republican redistricting gets major attention and criticism but the Dems drawing the map does not. Whoever is the major party and power of the state legislatures and governorships should set up the map. This is why many of us in the Republican Party support states rights to do whatever they want as long as it doesn't violate the Federal Constitution.

The fact that there are 4 times as many gerrymandered red states than blue states has something to do with that.
There is also the fact that the state based system favours the republicans as well as the thinly populated rural states are very overrepresented compared to the more densely populated urban states which allows a rural minority to outvote an urban majority.
So while both parties do engage in it it really is the tool of the Republican party. The democrats have won every single popular vote in the past 30 years with ease. So portraying it as only republicans doing it is kind of accurate since they are the only ones benefiting from it.
