Firefighter catches fire while battling a structure fire in Sherman Oaks, California. (Not injured).

- An LAFD engine discovered a building on fire in the 13000 block of Ventura Blvd and requested a full structure fire response from dispatch. Units arrived and made quick access into the building while pouring water onto the roof from the engine. An LAFD member attempted to access an adjoining building using a circular saw when gasoline from the tool spilled over him. His colleagues managed to dowse him with water before he suffered any injuries. The original fire building was destroyed by the blaze and was knocked down in 24 minutes by 35 firefighters.

@@Nedskiee While you are right that it takes a certain person to have the guts to do the job, I think you undervalue the importance of the people enabling said person to do such a job. Thoroughly inspect saws at shift change and after each use. Begin the inspection by inverting the saw so that its fuel cap is upside down. This will ensure that the cap and its rubber “O” ring gasket are not leaking. Fuel dripping from an inverted saw could be the result of its overfilling; fuel that overflows the fuel tank can collect in cavities in the engine housing.
