- Tokyo is immense in scale, I've yet to visit anywhere like it. It makes Mexico City feel small. For the purpose of creating this film we mostly stuck to Shibuya and Shinjuku for this film as these areas have a ton of lights and action going on.

D'ya know how long he's been at it, and never hit anybody? Trust me, I messengered for 21 years (2 years alongside Safa- I was the old bastard- he the young gun), you get such a feel for what's happening, or going to happen, that it really is like a sixth sense. You'd be avoided before you'd even stepped out. A person is only a foot and a half wide, all you've got to do is not be in that foot and a half- easy, provided you don't fixate on what you don't want to hit!

@@yutiros5174 you can always take the speedie and coast as much as ya like it will be easier for. Uphills too..
Having one speed only is cause when y having a fixie you can't fix the wheel and change speeds all together..
You can always just stop pedalin on the fixie and the bike will do the work so you can rest, but you can't always break with a lighter bike that doesn't have break clamps... The whole thing of being light and simple, just doesn't make sense with single speeds...

After work fun ride with friends. Messengers are messengers because they love riding bikes, will take any opportunity to ride them. It's nice to just ride for fun, just cruise around, not going anywhere in particular. That was a really slow, casual, fun cruise. As for the wide bars- each to their own- I ran bars no wider than my shoulders, but some colleagues, work mates, ran wide bars- they're better for fixed gear freestyle tricks. I wasn't into tricks, I was into flowing through traffic very, very fast and splitting lanes- so narrow bars, but not stupid narrow, so I still had control. I worked with Safa for two years, by the way. We were both a lot younger then, though 40-42, in my case, isn't really young

chaotic city riding like this is so fun, but yall need helmets!
That was a reeeeeally slow ride. The chance of having the type of fall where you'd hit your head, is a big fat zero. If you'd notice, when Safa is doing fast stuff- either fast, technical lane splitting city stuff, or high speed mountain descents- he ALWAYS wears a helmet. Same reason why ordinary people riding bikes in countries in Europe, where everyone rides bikes for transport, don't wear them, and they don't get a large amount of head injuries, clogging their hospitals. Almost none. You have to have momentum up, speed, before you can get thrown and hit your head.
I NEVER RIDEN IN NYC BUT TOKYO 2011 WITH BARCELONA 98 TILL 00 THE 2 BEST CITIES TO RIDE.
