- I've never dyed my hair before, so I decided to take the plunge...and as a thank you for 4 million subscribers, I wanted to let you guys help me out with my hair makeover! So I had you vote on Twitter and on KRplus, and then went to a salon and had my hair dyed the ~mystery~ color!

I agree with Holly ^^. That said, he would actually look really nice with a loose perm once it grows out. Everyone thinks it has to be these teeny tiny little ringlets, but really, the looser perm curls look really cool!

I wanted a dark purple and blue ombré for the first time and ended up with an ombré of my natural black hair with a wild mix of magenta and light blue with some green and purple :,)

That’s what it’s like for grey hair, ya hafta let it fade out a bit to have it light. She’s a dark haired person so of course she needs to let it fade
But it didn’t honey. She liked it and the majority of people liked it. The grey was subtle, but it was nice.
For those who may think it's a waste since you can't see the difference in the color: Hairstylist ALWAYS does this. If you go to a shop and say you want pastel or light blue, for example, then they will always say okay, I'm going to dye your hair dark blue. Because then instead of you wandering out with pastel blue and it dissapearing after 1 week, then you walk out with dark blue hair, and it turned pastel or light blue after 1-2 weeks, and then it will stay light for like 2 weeks more. So a hairstylist will always tell you to go a bit darker, so that you don't waste your money on 1 week of fun, when it could've been 4 weeks :-)

Blue isn't really coming out regardless. I've had blue for 4 months now and its teal yes which is lighter but not coming out at all...as far as other colors they fade very fast though! So it is better to dye a little darker.
Tristian Green blue is just tricky because mostly blue fades out to green and is a really hard color to keep rich

I concur this. My hair stylist did my previous oil slick hair color and galaxy hair color darker than intended so it lightens up over time.

I saw this later than it came out and I said before I saw the final form. I wanted the grey to win. I was so excited when it was grey. It looks so good and I love it.

The stylist did what she thought would look good in Safiyas dark hair. Gray is a difficult color to work with in dark brown/black hair, and she made it a metal grey so that it would fade into a light grey. It would be a rip off of if Safiyas hair faded to platinum blonde in a week. Also, Guy Tang doesn't take many clients, and his services are very expensive. The models in the photo are primed and prepared to perfection, NO ONE naturally looks like that. Don't hate guys! 😄 This hair color is manageable and it compliments Safiyas natural beauty. For her first time dying her hair, the color is really quite nice. Love you Saf 😊😘 Have a good day everybody

The time and effort taken to blur the hair is commendable.
People are complaining but I really like it! You can tell the hairstylist went for something that Saf would be comfortable with. She’s never dyed her hair before and going for that extremely dramatic grey for her first time would definitely damage her hair. The grey is noticeable and flattering on her and getting to a color that dramatic while keeping the hair healthy usually takes at least a year. For virgin hair this is the perfect first step into color.
Ariana Jarvis My thoughts exactly! The stylist went for something subtle because Saf was a dye virgin, and a nervous one at that. A radical change might freak her out, and keep her from ever dyeing her hair again.
The bleach is what damages the hair, though. Not the color. And the bleaching was already done, so it wouldn’t have damaged her hair anymore to go with a grey that could actually be seen. This essentially damaged her hair for nothing. 🤷🏼♀️
I'm "complaining" because I'm 50 and I honestly can't imagine why anyone would voluntarily dye their hair grey.

That hairstylist didn’t do her job. The picture they showed her was way more intense. It doesn’t matter what she thinks will look good on Saf, as a hairstylist you have to listen to your costumers request. It wasn’t bad but I can’t tell a difference and you could tell Saf wasn’t excited.
Emily Rose yup. was really hoping for something a bit more vibrant, especially with the bleaching, but I guess not. how are you gonna lighten someone's hair that much and then bring it back up to a shade or 2 lighter than their natural color.

those kinds of pictures are usually photoshopped so the color will be inaccurate. secondly, in order to get intense bleaching for a 'bolder' look would require multiple trips to the salon. Finally, she had to dye it darker so that the color will last longer. if she had given saf shiny gray hair it would have lasted around 2 weeks before fading back to it's bleached blonde color. Whenever i dye my hair i always chose to dye it a dark brown so the stylist will give me more of a blackish color at first so it can fade into what i desired, it's the same for everyone. The stylist did a great job.
I’m guessing you didn’t watch it all the way through because she explained that the reason is darker is so it can last longer since these colors don’t last long
Grey is a very hard color to achieve so I understand why it didn't come out perfect but it was kind of a let down at the end but I'm glad you love it Saf!
Yeah it is a very hard color to get but mostly to upkeep. This was for a video though that she has been hyping us up for and then they don't even really do it is just disappointing.

Cool idea, I just wish it came out a little more like the picture.
It will once it fades most likely, a lot of stylists do what Natalie did. By doing a dark subtle shade in the beginning it will fade to a lighter grey and be shades of that color for longer than if t started light. If she started at the grey in the photo it would most likely fade out to blonde within a few of weeks depending on how often Safiya washes her hair.

As someone who has dyed their hair probably 12 times in the last few years, yes it is addicting. Doesn't help that I hate my natural dirty blond color, so I prefer to dye it crazy, bold colors, or just really dark colors instead.
Personally as a person who has dyed her hair thrice, i would say Natalie did the right thing. Do you see her hair after 10days? Dying is expensive and it would be a waste if it all washes out too quick. Not only that but if saf personally loves it who are you to say anything?
