- Ok, here it is, finally, after all of your requests! I bought 4 wedding dresses from Wish.com and tried them out IRL to see how they were! We bought a ballgown, a renaissance dress, a black wedding dress, and a slightly more expensive gown to test out a few different categories.
Now, I have previously bought inexpensive clothing, knockoff electronics, "free" items, and mostly fake makeup from Wish before, with usually the same results: it's just not that great, and definitely not as good as the item listings seem online. However, I think the convergence of my recent engagement and the desire for more Wish roasting resulted in this: The Wish Wedding Dress Haul. What do you guys think?

The brown spot on the ball gown is old blood. If it were made in a factory, it's highly likely the person making it pricked their finger and they sent it anyways. I've gotten a dress like that before.
The chemical smell is from where the packages are sent overseas and they're required to clean them with certain chemicals to kill any diseases so they won't travel over to your country. I have a $600 evening gown that literally smells like some sort of fishy smell because that's what the kind of chemical used to store it in smelled like.
Also, the reason for the short dresses is most likely because it was designed in Asia and most women there are very petite. They usually don't take that into account when making the clothes.

Sounds like they’re trying to pad out an essay.
Actually, that stain might be blood. It's relatively common to see blood on clothes and items from shein, wish, aliexpress, etc. And since the items are so cheap that means that more than likely that blood is from a factory worker. Those factory workers are extremely overworked to the point of exhaustion and bleeding.

@@annaconzelmann6422 I think it's more like... they get overworked to the point where they lose their focus and because of that they are more prone to accidents (like cutting themselves with scissors or pricking their finger with a pin / needle etc.)

This is what I constantly have to explain to people when they order costumes from me.
I can’t compete with Amazon or wish, because their quailing is just garbage and that’s why you’re paying next to nothing.
And no matter what you ever do, you won’t get professional for under 100$ period. End of story.
These dresses are made in under two hours in a factor with 50 cent fabric.

Not from wish, but my wife bought her wedding dress quite cheaply online. it was only about AUS$300 which is reasonbly expensive for a dress but very cheap for a wedding dress. a similar dress would have been at least $1000 more to buy from a bridal shop. It actually looked great as long as you didn't look too close - lol. It also allowed her to be comfortable about getting it dirty/wrecked etc so was happy to dance and go a bit wild like even climbing a tree for the pictures.

Please don’t order a wedding dress from wish haha. If you have no budget, there are other options. Thrifting, borrowing, even Amazon is probably a much better bet. Or buying a white dress that isn’t meant to be a wedding dress (white bridesmaid dress, for example). And it’s worth it to spend even just a little bit more and have a dress that will look nice and hold up throughout the day.
Actually check out the Goodwill Stores in your area if you're on a budget.
There are some amazing things there. You never know what you might find.
exactly! my mom got a white prom dress for her wedding dress and it still looked amazing :))) also, thrift stores are definitely a good place to look, everytime i go to my local one i see about 3 or more white dresses (that are nice enough to be for weddings)

I got my wedding dress from Wish and was extremely surprised. I'm a big girl and Wish isn't known for having a range of sizes. It fit and the only thing I changed was the sleeves to be full length and solid fabric not lace as we're Catholics. I really loved my wedding dress

I've watched this before but I just realized something. Safiya mentions a chemical-like odor coming from the ballgown, and I'm pretty sure I know what it is. Most clothing retailers put formaldehyde on clothes (yes, what they preserve dead bodies with) to keep them preserved while they are hanging in the store or being shipped. It's why you should wash clothes you buy before you wear them, especially clothes that have been shipped internationally since those require more formaldehyde to be preserved over a longer shipping period.
Just a PSA:
PLEASE do not buy from Wish or any businesses like them in your daily life- their production methods are less than ethical.

This company should be sued for false advertising and stealing images of designer gowns...these dresses are nothing short of fancy dress items...I am a bridal seamstress and think it's absolutely shocking these online companies are getting away with fraudulent activity.

Part of the reason the pictures look so good is that pretty much every single one is stolen from professionals and reproduced based on the picture alone with no underlayers or things.
It's also made with cheaper materials and lower standards.

I actually kind of really like the first one! It's like a cute little 50's style dress that gives a really flattering silhouette. Can't speak to that specific dress's quality, but if you could maybe reinforce it with some strategic stitches or add some additional fabric to line it or some embellishments to jazz it up, I think the fit and overall style is really cute 😊

I bought my wedding dress for $125 on Amazon. It was super cute, though the texture was not ideal. There are definitely some very cute options in that price range---my tip is to look for "prom" dresses that come in white.
Got mine from jjshouse for $200. If you want to make sure it fits you, opt for the custom measurements

A good friend of mine actually spent less than $20 on their wedding dress... Their future mother-in-law found a wedding dress in like a thrift store or something and sent it to them, because if they didn't like it, they weren't out much money. But it fit them perfectly and was super flattering! The only problem was dumbly puffy sleeves, but a seamstress was able to tack those down a bit for very, very cheap. And they looked amazing for their wedding. 😊
The black one was absolutely my favorite. It was so pretty and sparkly and it looked beautiful on you. I get that none of them are wedding caliber, but you looked pretty in all of them

You look great! Congratulations on your big day! It's reported that the sellers often have fake reviews. I think a bride would have to be unable to buy a dress from anywhere else. I was just incredibly lucky to find a 2nd hand dress at a consignment store. It wasn't an official wedding gown. It was just a formal, cream dress. The smell is how all clothes smell, I used to unpack the clothes that were delivered to Dillard's. We'd have to let them air out for days, because of the chemical smell. If someone absolutely had to buy several styles, & sizes, take them to the cleaners, & a tailor if possible. At least have a friend/neighbor who can do repairs, or alterations.
