I used a GPS based app called dragy, to actually find out if the 4 cylinder engine is better than the V6 engine. From my test run I did on both the new engine and the transmission setup prove that the new TLX is faster, .3 actually.
    Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The TLX continues to offer both a four- and six-cylinder engine. The standard is a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four that makes 272 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque, which is the one that we have in this A Spec. Also a Type S high-performance trim will be offered which is offered with a turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6, which generates 355 ponies and 354 lb-ft. The TLX is built on a new and exclusive platform with a double-wishbone front suspension that's said to improve its ride-and-handling versus the last generation. The sedan also now features variable-ratio steering, an electrically controlled braking system, and available adaptive dampers.
Also the new TLX is also bigger than the previous model, the new TLX features a 3.7-inch longer wheelbase, 2.2-inch wider body with wider front and rear tracks (+1.2 in. and +1.6 in., respectively), lower roof (-0.6 in.) and an extended dash-to-axle dimension (+7.8 in.).

Sam banging review! Spot on with your assessment of a more “Performance” oriented feel and experience. This is Acura new direction - back to their roots of being a performance minded manufacturer churning out performance driving experience. Just look at the use of double wishbone suspension, wider track, lower centre of gravity, wider tires. This car looks aggressive and it performs aggressively. 2.0L Turbo charged 4cyl out performing the outgoing 3.5LV6 all the while providing significantly better fuel economy. Standard Super Handing All Wheel Drive this year (In Canada) and features galore. A true mid size performance sedan with luxury and reliability. This car must be driven to experience. Make sure this car is on your short list.

I personally think the 2020 TLX is underrated, and underappreciated. The exterior styling is still fresh. The dash is a bit dated, but honestly I think after awhile you don't even notice it. People dump on the 2-screen setup, but it has it's advantages. Both the 4 cyl/DCT and V6 SHAWD are very competent powertrains. The car is quiet, comfy, and handles great. Of course, I may be a smidgen biased since I just bought a 2020 Aspec, taking advantage of factory incentives! lol The 2021 are quite a bit more expensive, out the door. I find the side profile slightly awkward, with that long hood. And overall, in my neck of the woods, where parking lots and stalls are tight, I wish they had kept the exterior dimensions smaller...4 inches shorter, and 3 inches narrower would have been great. I had a 3rd Gen TL, and to me, that car had the perfect proportions.

Hello! I’m in the market for either a certified pre owned 2020 TLX SH-AWD or a new 2021 TLX SH-AWD. I always hear don’t buy a first year model and my biggest concern is always reliability since I hold onto cars for as long as I can. You seem to know your stuff, do you think there might be any cause for concern on reliability of the new 2021? How do the 2020’s do when it comes to reliability?

@@stevencastro2856 I've only had my 2020 for about 9 months but so far it's been perfect in terms of reliability. It's not the sportiest ride, but it's very comfortable for daily commutes. I too usually avoid first year models, but that said, I did buy the 2004 TL, and the 2001 CL Type S, and both fared decently in terms of reliability. The only problems I had with those 2 were a bit more rattles than I'd like and some poorly fitted body panels. I would stay away from 1st year European models.

I test drove the 2121 TLX and decided on the 2020 for several reasons, 1st - the last of the V-6, great power at low RPM, smooth as silk and I don't like turbo's, 2nd, Value, I got the A-Spec package, AWD, V-6, Tech package, "a CD Player" yes a real CD Player for $8000.00 less. Don't get me wrong the new TLX looks great but I will wait for the Type-S then most likely move to a RDX or Ridgeline. A few thing's to note, I have only had 1 issue over the years back when the TL first came out, a culch issue, Acura sent me a letter of apology, my dealer gave me a new car to drive and that was it was getting repaired. Find yourself a good dealer Like I have with Camco Acura Ottawa, I don't dicker or move around, they treat me well so I treat them with the same respect. I just wish I could afford the NSX. I leased a 2.0t Honda Accord purely because it had a more updated/luxurious feel than the previous generation TLX, and just got rid of it for an Apex Blue A-Spec AWD. The new TLX is light years above the previous in the exterior and interior, old exterior looks lumpy and chunky just like an 2010s vehicle did, I wouldn’t turn an eye to see one on the road and much less want to buy one, even the new accord came out with a much more aggressive styling and interior appeal. If you’re in denial simply for owning one that’s fine but no sane person can say the 2021 TLX isn’t far superior.

Honda/Acura needs to a leader not fallowin every other company that is disregarding or swapping the v6 for the four cylinder too much limitations😡😡 why is it only for the type s ??? You don't get all the options in the aspec as you would have in luxury models and yes I agree with you on most of what you have mentioned i think they are trying too much for a company that as being around for sometimes now my opinion go back to the drawing board and carefully think of what they did wrong i knw they can do better instead of cutting corners i challeng honda/Acura to bring there best for 2022

Never drove a V6 TLX, but my ‘15 accord V6 feels faster than my wife’s ‘21 TLX. Still a great car. The SH-AWD makes a huge improvement. Very tempted to buy one, but I would definitely miss the V6’s smoothness.

Which sad as Acura isn't even have enough luxury over a Honda to have high technology problems that come with luxury brands. We have had a few modern day Cadillac's and never had problems. They drove well but were on the stiff side compared to Buick.

I agree its way over priced. They pretty much killed their main clientele with the pricing. 48000 for an aspec is crazy. For that kind of money you can buy a true luxury sport sedan with higher performance numbers. The sweet spot for this car would have been an apec from around 42 msrp. But for 48k and then 55+k for the type s is out of their core customers budget and considering the you can get a 2.0 accord sport for ~30k otd with similar performance makes its value proposition hard to justify. Your essentially paying 15+ k more for leather interior, a sound system and awd. Not worth it.

Type S will be upper 50's which is way to much for this car. I agree the IS is still on an older platform but Lexus priced it right to attract people. They know if the car is too high it puts it in other ranges with cars that will out sell it. Acura priced this too high you might as well buy an Accord 2.0T. The only thing I see is a upgraded sound system and AWD. Hell you can put an after market SUB in there and out perform the actual factory radio. This car should have been priced starting 38k and around 45k for the Type S. Just wait till the Type S comes out and the crazy mark-ups these dealer are going to be doing. Needless to say the Type S is stripped with so many features the Advanced model got its crazy to pay close to 60k for that car. No thank you! Have a good day!
