@@chrisholland7367 Bond has always adapted to the climate of the day slightly. Moonraker for example was shoe horned in to adapt to the space/star wars mania at the time. Just like Die Another Day capitalised on the success of the xxx movies at the time. Heavy on action and extreme sports. The key to the success is adaptation. But then again my favourite Bond movies are the ones closest to the books

HDaviator In my eyes, it's better than all of those. They're all great songs (with the exception of Moonraker), but I think Writing's On The Wall is the second best OF ALL TIME behind You Know My Name. Yes, I think it's even better than the song from Skyfall.
+HDaviator I don't think you can compare the old and new era Bond titles sequences. The visuals are much more striking and dynamic in the new ones and the music in the old ones is, on average, better put together. That's just my opinion though.

As a big Bond fan I fucking love this! The intro is amazing and 100% Bond movie material. I can respect people's opinions on the song but I struggle to understand why they say it's a mismatch. It doesn't have to be "macho" to be a Bond theme, it just has to represent at least a part of the story or any small thing in the film. I mean, compare it to Die Another Day? I liked that song when I was younger but if any theme was a mismatch, it was definitely that one.

No kidding, it's really a good song, but ah I'm not sure if it suits a 007-style. If I look at Skyfall by Adele, it's more a 007-style, what most people prefer, I guess. They "integrated" some James Bond tones/tracks in her song, you know. That's what I miss here...
The negative people are most likely guys and girls ho only saw skyfall and never heard tunderball or goldvinger. This is a great James Bond song

Just saw the movie. Not gonna lie: I first I had my doubt with this song but as soon as the song started to play along with the sequence, I was speechless.
It was one of the best opening credits ever. And the snippet of some deceased characters since Casino Royale, including M. and Vesper Lynd when she died, I got goosebumps all over and even teary-eyed a little bit. It was truly a powerful moment.

It's one of the worst. HOW Can you even compare this to Golden Eye or Casino Royal. Even Skyfall is miles ahead of this emotionally sappy song that belongs in a soap opera, not a bond film.

+Alice Silva I disagree. I've no idea about this "...nothing to do with Bond..." And I'm sure Sam Smith is very talented. But the reason Adele's Song works and this doesn't is because - like Bassey, Sinatra, Sheena Easton, Tom Jones, McCartney.... even Duran Duran, her song had stirring depth. Their songs were sexy and dangerous sounding.
This is whiney and uninspired. Like I say, he's clearly talented; but like Madonna's horrible effort it doesn't make people think 'James Bond!' Instead of fireball explosions and vodka martinis it makes people think of scented candles and cheap chardonnay.....
