Wow, we are both SO excited to share this Sprinter Van Conversion for a family of four!

This is a 2018 4x4 170โ Extended 3500 Mercedes Sprinter Van. When Cal and Cindy came to us with the challenge of incorporating in another bed for their two kids to sleep, we knew we had to get creative.
They loved the convertible bed/table area that we incorporate into our van builds as well as the full bathroom with a toilet and shower. Since we had to install a bench seat for the kids to ride in while driving, we knew that this van build was all about maximum storage and functionality!
So we ended up coming up with a convertible bunk bed solution by utilizing a HappiJac bed lift. This gave them the best of both worlds - they have a place to sit and eat together as a family AND two beds - the lower bed is an almost king size bed and the top bed is double size.

โ@@SaraandAlexJames I love the jackery bed setup. Think you can basically leave the upper bunk madeup all the time. The double seat (crew seat) is a must have for our kids and passengers. The solenoids are perfect for releasing the greywater going down the road and the urine and black at the dump stations As I say, hard to question anything about this build. I think you set the standard here. Wish you outrageous success!

lucecita19 My family and I have a Class A RV with that same bed above the front seat and for my bed thereโs a key that you have to stick in and then turn before lowering it for safety reasons, so hopefully they have that feature

Considering where the remote is for the bed I doubt that will happen..
They will either feel vibrations and tell whos lifting it or the parents will notice kid is not down hanging out/ or the kid is sleeping

8:24 "Real sturdy table" *table* *wobbles* I assume the pedestal mount wasn't locked down tightly? Joking aside, very beautiful build. Also love how you decided the happyjac solution for the upper bunk for kids and the climbing handhold for them.
๐fail! Alex is stronger than he thinks and pushed a little too hard. All pedestal legs have a little wobble - this pedestal mount is a lot sturdier than most, especially the Lagun mount we've used on previous builds.
Like make others, several van living videos popped up in my recommended after watching Janelle's videos, but I'm not even mad. Van living is super interesting to me. It's not something I could personally do (at least not at this point in time), but I love seeing the crazy things that people can turn such small spaces into!
This is cool but I couldn't see myself living in such a small space.

I love this van and I donโt have any kids. That bed is so cool and I would probably never use it. So much storage. Just so much storage. I would use this van for like a diving trip somewhere as well as drive it to work everyday and just have my lunch in the van away from work. No way I would go full time โVan Lifeโ but having a private brake room like this, have lunch take a 30 min nap and go back to work. Amazing ๐ great job

You own what, several Mercedes vehicles, or several Mercedes camper vans? While I wouldn't purchase a Merc right now (because I prefer a different brand), I have had several Es, oldest one being from 1996, and attention to detail was not by far one of the issues. Talking about "simply watching a KRplus video", how many vans done by Sara and Alex do you own, to make such claims? I respect the fact that you have an opinion, but I strongly disagree with it. Ahh, and it's not Mercedes that makes the motorhome. Those are companies like: Westfalia, Winnebago, or Airstream that build on a Sprinter shell.

WOOOW! Cool packing cubes, drop down bed with color changing lights for the kids, car seats still in tact, sweet wall treatments, AND a bathroom?!!! This is awesome! And you guys really explained everything well. You didnโt skip anything, but you also knew how to explain what certain objects are in a way that non-RVers could understand and it builds our confidence that we can do it too. I was so excited to see a van build made for more than one or two! We have two young boys and have been wanting to do a van conversion where we can all sleep comfortably with minimal transforming of furniture and space. This looks pretty damn sweet!
To have all these features and storage space optimization is absolutely stunning to me
I think the van and design is lovely I would live in that van it looks super cozy and to have a shower and a toilet in it just makes it ten times better in my opinion ๐๐๐ผ๐

Your van design is literally genius. Love the retractable second bed. Love the wet toilet. I think I will weirdly enjoy running for my life when SHTF and I needed to get out of the city.
You'd have to have a very calm family to be in such tight quarters, especially in the rain. I've been a camper all my life and I'd need more headroom when I was sleeping. With that said, the build is beautiful and very well thought out.
The tile in the kitchen is dope lol.
I think they needed to add that window behind sink because cooking in small space, that smell lingers without ventilation.

Nice conversion but I think the price of the van plus the conversion, you can buy an already factory made high quality campervan.

@@ashleyeklund.586 Hi Ashley. If you are talking about me, what I ment was that this is a very expensive conversion especially because they bought a brand new van. They replied that it was all custom made and that campervans/motorhomes dont have the quality theirs have and I replied to them that all depended of the range they went for cuz you have brand new campervans/motorhomes starting at 30 thousand dollars up to millions of dollars and of course a campervan/motorhome costing what they paid in total (I believe 80k plus) will have lots of quality plus more things than this one but yes it is not custom made. Funny how poeple start from the principle that because its a german make, the quality build starts there but people are very mistaken.
I appreciate your attention to detail and the craftsmanship of this build. This van has so much great technology built in and the white and gray colors are rich looking. Very nice!

I think this layout is not only suitable for a family of four, but also for a single traveller or a couple as it combines the comfort of always having a ready made bed without sacrificing this for a nice seating area as in many other van conversions. Homes/condos here in California (Bay Area) run $800k minimum. A million+ for an average house. Rent for a 2br/1bath $2500 and up. But thereโs so much to appreciate here. The people. Diversity, the weather, the income potential, inspired food/bev/art/music, beautiful nature, creativity all around. Health. Van life is a way to easily and pleasantly beat the system.๐ค

This is the best lay out of a small van I have ever seen. I am in England and have searched for a van that's small enough for me to feel comfortable driving but can accommodate four. This is amazing. I guess it means you have to have it customised because I have yet to find anything that suits - until now!!!! Great job.

What an incredible build!! Great job. We're actually in the midst of selling everything to travel full time with our toddler (we'll be documenting it all on our KRplus channel). We initially thought of RV'ing but decided against it for now. Some day I'd love to do this though!
