This song is soo relevant. It hits me really hard. When I hear the lyrics I see myself 4,5/5 years ago when I took our love for granted during a difficult time.
This is a really good song from Sara Kays. I felt heartbroken when I listened this for the first time and that is a really good thing :)
4,5 years ago my girlfriend broke up with me, with this as a part of the reason. Because of reason´s I had a difficult time and I was not happy with myself. I really thought that she was the love of my life and that we would grow old together. So I made the biggest mistake, I took our love for granted. I thought that we would come out stronger after my `depressed` period. But sadly when I got almost out of that situation she decided to move on without me and broke my heart (And it's still broken). For the last 5 month in our relationship I was very insecure with myself, I closed myself to work on my issues and didn´t go out with her to visit her family or other events because I was really tired. She knew about this. Alright, I didn´t say `I love you` or other nice things as often as I did during our relationship. Because I felt jealous for loving my girlfriend, but not loving myself. Damn, If I could turn back time and say those things to her, even during those times. Even when I´m broken I should have at least show love to her, even I it isn't coming from my heart. (because of not loving myself) That should have prevent the break-up. But I took our love for granted because I strongly believed that our relationship is strong and unbreakable. It was the first difficult period in our relationship after 1,5 year happy and good relation, so in the last month I was convinced that our love can overcome everything, but when I was making suprises and planning events for next year for us, she decided a few days before christmas to end it. My believe in "True love" is broken. I don't know anymore what love means now she is gone. I'm sad that I think (and feel) that I'll be happier if I live my life without someone else.
I know, I can ramble on, so sorry for such a "long" story. Some music and artist make me so emotional that I couldn't resist to say something about this. This means that the song, in this case "Traffic Lights", really hits me and I love that. In the last 4,5 years I didn't fall in love with a human, but I felt in love with music. Music is my life. Music is always with me, even during the darkest times, when humans are leaving you. Thank you for making this song. Thank you for being with me. I know I'm the "villain" in this story, but that doesn't mean that It is easy for me, because we are both victims. I'm happy with my life now, but I really miss her because she was my soulmate, my bestfriend, the woman of my life. Alright, she broke up with me by social media, so I didn't got any closure and she didn't relpy to my "normal, friendly and formal'' letters. That's the reason I felt so much about all of this after such a long time. But again, thank you for making this song. I will follow you and I'm looking foreward to all of you're other and future songs. :)
