Her portrayal of Ana won me over and I do find her adorable. I like her dry sense of humor too during interviews. Her SNL monologue did make me giggle. Kudos to her to her comedic chops! :-)

Some of you guys are so negative and judgmental. I thought she did a great job. She's got a very dry sense of humor (much like myself) that some people don't get and it's a shame because she's actually very funny. And it's great that Melanie and Don were both there together to support their daughter. Even though FSoG isn't the kinda movie they will want to watch her in, they are still so proud of how well she's doing

To everyone saying "Dakota would be working at Starbucks if it weren't for her parents!"--well, yeah. But it doesn't mean she doesn't have talent. She was just lucky to be born into a family of famous actors. Believe it or not, there are a lot of baristas out there who have untapped talents of all kinds. Dakota was simply born into a situation that made it easier to get her foot in the door - - I don't think it's necessarily fair to fault her for that.

Sure, it couldn't hurt to have her parents, as a possible door opener, for her. But, there is still a lot of talent and hard work involved to make it in that business. And, many huge stars have off-spring who, unlike Dakota, do not have the talent nor the facility, to 'make it' in showbiz. A few, have what it takes. Ben Stiller is another fine actor, who comes to mind, having celebrity parents, too.I mean, it's like what Al Pacino said about there being an element of 'luck' to really make it in films, in addition to the talent. Some just have a tad more luck, than others.
She is awkward, but this is what makes her funny. She reminds me of Zooey Deschanel.

Don Johnson is still the epitome of cool. He is very lucky that he has a beautiful daughter, though. Melanie is beautiful that she passed on to Dakota, as well. Plus, I can't believe that Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith were in the audience, though.

This really seems more like Dakota introducing herself to the world, according to a comedy script, than anything else. She manages to cover all the major points: her parentage, her current film, and the controversy around it, letting both sides speak up. If anyone didn't know who she was beforehand, they would after seeing this.
"My parents will not be seeing my movie", perhaps that is because it would be "been there, done that" for them. Remember her parents first lived together when Melanie Griffith was 15 and Don Johnson was 22 ( that puts "50 Shades" in the shade).

He seems to have a thing for "younger" ladies - he began living with Melanie Griffith when she was 15 and he was 22 ; when he was 38 he dated Uma Thurman who was 18 at the time ; at 47 he got engaged to Jodi O'Keefe who was 17 (she had the role of his daughter on the "Nash Bridges" TV show). Not exactly a prude, so, I would suggest from this that what is depicted in the "50 Shades" series wouldn't phase him much. Melanie Griffith had her first relationship with Don at 15, married him aged 18, divorced then married him again. After divorcing Don the first time, she dated Ryan O'Neal ( whose daughter Tatum recalled being taken to an orgy by Melanie and Maria Schneider when she was about 13). She then married Steve Bauer and after divorcing him, married Don for the second time. After a second divorce from Don, she married and divorced Antonio Banderas. So four marriages with three men and ditto with being prudish.

Check out long list of movies DJ has signed on to film on Twitter. No studio will give any actor a job just because of their parents - they audition - are chosen ....these studios are only interested in making $$$ and LOTS of it! They choose the actor that is the best for every part. Her parents have nothing to do with it!
