James Cameron is back at it again, creating groundbreaking tech for Avatar 2 that could change the film industry forever!
Everytime that Cameron releases a new film, it also has to have some new innovation that blows our mind. This time around, there’s a whole bunch more stuff that we didn’t even think was possible before it was announced!
Producer Jon Landau has done us all a favour by leaking several photos and screenshots behind the scenes, showing us some of the incredible new 3D renders and underwater motion capture tech that will make this new groundbreaking vision possible. We’ll dissect how the tech works, what advancements have been made and how far into production Avatar 2, 3, 4 and 5 currently are. From what Cameron has achieved for CG and film, to what he’s currently up to in New Zealand with WETA Digital, we dive into what’s possible and what it could mean for the film industry as a whole!
With our next visit to Pandora delayed due to Covid-19, it’ll be sometime before we see our favourite blue CGI aliens, Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana). But we can still geek out over how awesome the tech is and what it could do to take the stories we tell in film to new depths!

It's outrageously bad with lines so cringy that it makes you want to directly exit the cinema hall, and CGI so bad that they had to make a "2.0" which is a more patched version because some of the parts didn't even have CGI!

You can say that about 'Once Upon a Time in the West' and when was that released, 1969? The difference is that the great movies have gripping stories and they touch us emotionally, whether that is fear, happiness, sorrow, etc. Unfortunately I didn't really feel anything during Avatar. I was technically impressed but ultimately bored.

Look at T2 (morphing tech), Titanic and The Abyss. While critics might now have A pulssed them they changed movies forever as some many other movies copy catted them.

Alita Battle Angel is one of the best-looking films I've ever seen. I have nearly a thousand DVDs and BluRays in my collection so I do have a decent reference to make the "best-looking" statement. After the internet lost their mind over the way Alita's eyes looked in the first trailer, James Cameron had the WETA animators make her pupils even bigger and it fixed the weird look. WETA did the motion capture for ABA and all of the Avatar films. There is a shot in Alita that takes place underwater. That underwater shot was probably a technology test for the Avatar sequel. In a recent interview, James Cameron commented that as good as Alita looked, the new Avatar films look even better. He stated this with a huge grin on his face. I have never seen Cameron gloat in any interview about any of his films. He is usually stoic and very matter-of-fact when discussing his films. Cameron stated several months ago that they had finished principal photography and motion capture (performance capture) for Avatar 2 and 3, and about half of Avatar 4. The level of detail in every shot of Alita is mind-boggling. Some of the cityscape shots of Iron City took 1 week to render a single frame. In total, it took 432 million hours of render time to complete Alita and Alita was only 2 hours and 2 minutes long.
The first Avatar was 2 hours and 42 minutes. The animators from Avatar had a period of time during the filming of Alita that had no Avatar work. Instead of sending them home for a few months, James Cameron shifted them over to work on Alita. James Cameron said that the WETA Avatar animators that worked on Alita were "world-class". Watch Alita and imagine that Avatar will look even better. I think audiences will probably be blown away when the Avatar sequels hit theaters.

But at the same time, it doesn't matter how long someone works on something. It's the quality of the end result. So far, it looks like Avatar 2 is not at all what I was hoping it would be (it seems like it's changing the story a lot), so despite having been disappointed (like a lot of people) with the false promises (release dates that keep getting pushed back a year or two) in the past, I don't really care about Avatar anymore. A lot has changed in the last 12 years, and so have I.
I think they should not allow more than *7 years* of a gap between sequels *that are supposed to be a continuation* . The crystal skull was technically a continuation (with Jone's kid from Raiders of the Lost Ark), but all of the Jones movies were essentially standalone stories, so in that respect, the 19 year gap between the two films doesn't really matter, in my opinion.

Second, do you want the actors to wear a mask or something? they're not gonna make a movie with aliens that look exactly like humans, it would make no sense, and did you even watch this video, they do have real expressions and real actors on set, just with CGI on top of them, how would you have done avatar, do you really think you could've made a movie that made as much money as the real one in a different way?
