The fact that they left it open to interpretation makes me think that the love triangle wasn't that both Mingyu and Wonwoo were in love with the girl, but that Wonwoo wanted to be with her while Mingyu wanted to be with Wonwoo. Maybe that's why in the deleted scene Mingyu took back the earbud to show Wonwoo symbolically that he wanted to be with him the way Wonwoo wanted to be with the girl. At the end when Mingyu walks into the rain, it seems like he opens up to the idea of being brave and being with Wonwoo in a place where it's frowned upon. Him inviting Wonwoo to stand with him in the rain and then both of them walking away together could either represent that they fell in love, or that Mingyu accepted the "bittersweet" ending of Wonwoo liking the girl and just continuing to be there for him as a friend as opposed to losing him completely. Just my own personal guess lol!

Desde el principio mingyu dijo que lo dejarán a interpretación de cada uno, porque el triángulo amoroso se podría mirar de otra forma. Tal como dijiste, en el video en ningún momento se ve a mingyu atraído por la chica, es más bien wonwoo el que le importa y eso me hace pensar que mingyu seguía ahí por el, como haciendo el papel de amigo cuando en verdad sentía algo más. Mientras que wonwoo SI se ve atraído por la chica y el MV nos lo muestra explicitó, estando al lado de ella y poniendo su atención a ella, pero el final me deja pensando… mingyu habrá decidido darse por vencido con sus sentimientos. Seeing all the comments about how this is not a typical love triangle makes me so soft. If the real plot of this mv is not about two men loving one woman but actually Mingyu being in love in Wonwoo while Wonwoo was interested in that girl then I’m so proud that our boys made this kind of mv. I feel proud.
it is a typical love triangle, the love triangles most people are thinking about are love angles where two people like the same person
Love angle would be if two people who didn't really know each other loved the same person.
A typical love triangle would be if two close friends loved the same person and that person is torn between the two. The last side of the triangle is completed by a friendship love.
An unrequited (dare we say, bittersweet?) love triangle would be if A loved B who loved C who loved A.
A thruple would be if A loved B and C, B loved A and C, and C loved A and B.
I definitely think the emphasis to the mv being "open to interpretation" shows that yes, it can be interpreted as a love triangle but that it was ALSO MEANT to be interpreted as Mingyu having unreciprocated feelings for Wonwoo. The running scene could be Wonwoo chasing after the girl while Mingyu is chasing Wonwoo, but again it could also be Mingyu always being second to Wonwoo in the love triangle. The ending scene where Mingyu is hiding his tears in the rain then turns around to Wonwoo shows his acceptance of Wonwoo and the girl as a couple despite his feelings. I think the mv was created to specifically show both interpretations. Otherwise, Mingyu and Wonwoo wouldn't have kept emphasizing on the fact that it was open to interpretation.
ALSO when they finish running and Mingyu looks up, it's REALLY hard to tell who he's looking at. Both Wonwoo and the girl are looking at him in that shot and his head is tilted upwards in a way where it's pretty difficult to tell who he's making eye contact with. So again, it's equally hinting at both of these interpretations.

I think the reason why Mingyu said that it was up to their interpretation is because it was personal, it was based on an experience that happened in real life, interpreted through symbols. He repeated that statement when Wonwoo said, "Because he's a slow runner" then DK answered, "Does that also show that he's unable to approach the lady?", I think DK and Seungkwan (he laughed somewhere in between Wonwoo and DK's statements) knows something's up.
I think that at the start, it was LeeHi and Mingyu who knows each other first because they started running together for a brief moment at the same pace and at first, before the running happened, they were not seen together but individually. When LeeHi gathered speed, she was able to overtake Wonwoo and somehow, the three of them connected because they share the same destination. When LeeHi overtook both of them, they both smiled while looking ahead, suggesting that they started admiring her from the back. Wonwoo being the one who trails behind her may indicate that he was the one who made the move first because he was on her workplace. Mingyu, on the other hand, was outside, and even though the girl was prompting her to "Come in", he did not go inside, he was unable to approach her. Wonwoo, took his chances and LeeHi gave him a chance. When Mingyu was finally able to "go inside", he feels like an outsider. Wonwoo and LeeHi have already connected through sharing earphones and while Wonwoo was looking at her admiringly, LeeHi was looking at outside and continued to do so even though Wonwoo tried talking to her. Mingyu was already inside but was feeling alone. When they were dancing together, all of them looks happy. They were both looking at her happily and I think Wonwoo noticed that the girl looks happy whenever Mingyu was around as opposed to when they were together. So when Mingyu left, Wonwoo followed him and gave him her hat that was "taken" while smiling and immediately walked away but Mingyu was following behind him closely and returned it back to him, I think that was the moment when both of them sympathize with each other. The three of them were running again and LeeHi was still ahead of them, both LeeHi and Wonwoo were seen happy while Mingyu looked vaguely happy and he trails behind them at the back. Then a scene where he's alone suggested that he stopped running for a while because he was struggling although he was trying his best to keep up to them. When he was able to reach them, he sees Wonwoo smiling at LeeHi and LeeHi gave him a small smile back. They both looked at Mingyu and stopped smiling and Mingyu felt alone all over again, that despite being "inside". In the end, both Mingyu and Wonwoo decided to go "outside". I think they were both sad because they stared at the rain first and Mingyu was the first one to take the first step, then looked at Wonwoo who was hesitating to step out. Mingyu smiled at him encouragingly, as if saying, "you may have lost the girl but you're not alone". Wonwoo took a step back before walking towards the rain then they both smiled. Mingyu lost the girl because of the insecurity that he felt of being unable to keep up to both Wonwoo and LeeHi, Wonwoo lost the girl because although he can keep up with her, he can't make her happy. In the end, they both lost the girl but they were able to gain a friend. It was bittersweet. 😊
That was just my interpretation, though. Haha. I love the song and the music video! Mingyu and Wonwoo have such amazing vocals and the addition of LeeHi's vocals give this song a dreamy and sentimental feels. The lyrics are heartbreaking and meaningful and the music video is done in such a way that it's as if you are watching a movie. I'm happy (even though my heart is broken because of the story haha) because the video draws you in and makes you "feel" with the characters, as if you're being pulled into the story yourself. Haha. I wish there's a part 2, i'd like to know what happens next. Hahaha. 3:14 was too short for a masterpiece of work. Haha.

Mingyu feels left out of the relationship (like a third wheel) -he is always in dark theme or sad tone. Wonwoo chose Mingyu, the scene where mingyu was waiting and wonwoo arrived. Mingyu went to the rain (rain in korean context is romantic or happiness either of the two) Mingyu smiled in the rain beckoning wonwoo forward (wonwoo did)
