✅Air layering is a method of propagating plants by inducing roots to form on a stem while it is still attached to the parent plant. This can be done with many plants, including lemon trees. Follow the steps in the video to air layer the lemon tree:

This is a method of making a new plant with same maturity as mother plant. Actually there is no need of a banana cocopeat is enough to maintain moist.

I do this with figs with great success.
I just saw this and I have a fig and would like to try this. Do you also use a banana or just soil? Others were saying the banana isn’t necessary. Another said once you split it apart coco is put into the opening. Did they mean coconut?

I'd like to do this with pistachio trees. Do they need that potassium to form roots? Maybe I'll try both ways and compare.

@@BananaMike780 it most certainly is NOT necessary. i assure you. i do the same thing with my trees and no bananas are used. its called air layering, it definitely works if you do this same thing without a banana. none of the 35+ trees i have potted and ready for sale needed a banana to grow roots.

@@Chelovek__1 вроде кусок кокоса, но это не обязательно, так же, как и банан. Достаточно сделать незарастающий надрез, вставив пуговицу и поливать почву в стаканчике.

Banana is for potassium. Helps promote root development.
It's still growing into a lemon tree. The banana just helps that lemon stem grow roots so that it can be removed and planted as a whole new lemon tree. The original lemon tree also has roots so it'll just grow new leaves, and now you have 2 lemon trees

I've done something similar also, used a Ziploc bag with miracle grow soil and zipped bag tightly to hold soil onto plant etc I'm trying to root, worked extremely well.
What’s that small bit he put in between the sliced branch. Wish I had seen this earlier, I’ve just cut a big branch off my blueberry bush, put some rooting powder and poke it into the same pot, without taking the leaves off, it’s wilting right now, might rescue it today and put it in some water instead. No lime tree to propagate 🙂

Interesting.just a thought tho...If you tie cotton twine (eco/compost friendly) around the banana instead of zip ties, you lose the need to take the dirt away from the roots. Just plant after removing the cup.

u could do this even without the use of banana. u just use soil.

Like others have said, I'm going to try this with my mara-whhhana plants I'm in Virginia where we're limited to growing 4 plants. If I took a cutting, the law would consider it a plant. Doing this method it wouldn't be considered a separate plant. Until I cut it, that is. I don't see why it won't work. I'll report back.
