Apparently he was the first trainee in years who succeeded at SM's open day audition.
All at the age of of 12.
SM knew they found a gem when he walked through the door that fateful Saturday.
@@MC-ko2mx I really wonder if SM did think they struck gold or found a gem. I think not. I think that he developed into someone phenomenal before their eyes but that only he knew and knows his own greatness. Just my hunch. I could be wrong.

I'd say that by that stage, SM knew he was highly bankable, at the very least.
The critical and commercial success that followed certainly bears this out.
I still think they could have done a better job at promoting his recent solo releases though.
