“Trust, Communication, Accountability” He was talking about defenses, but that’s damn near the blueprint to any successful relationship too lol
Can't upvote this enough.
FACTS
Yes sir
😂
So women typically say their men don’t communicate with them enough but these same men are expected to communicate with each other on the football field? Lol!
I feel bad for that TV... I feel like he's literally squishing that screen.
Someone get this man a true touchscreen!
lmao, he really thought it was one of those touchscreens lol... good ole Ray
😂😂
Yo I thought I was the only one. Him touching the screen like that was killing me lol
Facts don’t care about the TV’s feelings 😂
Theyre millionaires you really think they care
Producer: “uh Ray, that’s not a touch screen”
go to bed youngin.. he focused....
@@ericthered1140 what 😂
LMFAO! I was scrolling down to type "Someone needs to tell Ray thats' not a touch screen".
yea lol
Hahahahahaha 😆😂
It baffles me that some people in the comments are calling Marshall stupid when he is obviously just playing devil's advocate
i don't think he's stupid... but his hair sure as hell is.
💯
@@herogibson Stay out of black people business
exactly!!!!!! making a good show for the viewers
herogibson I like it
Ray gets so passionate about defenses
His and Ed’s defense out scored a lot of offenses when they were in their prime. They were deadly because they had 11 guys on 1 page.
Literally his life work
Its so contagious too tho. Thats why i love him man. GOAT ILB
As passionate as killing ppl 😩
@@gfbs7004 right on que
I like how bmarsh challenged ray's philosophies and forced him to explain in more detail instead of just mindlessly agreeing.
Marshall does an outstanding job being an analysis. I watched him several times and he usually gives great takes and assessments. Ray Lewis is football book smart.
@Paddy C he was playing the role of a view to flesh out the dialogue dude... you don’t know more football than Brandon Marshall stfu lol and very few people alive can challenge Ray Lewis with football IQ anyway
i loved it too it gave ray an opportunity to further expand on his points and it flowed perfectly
@Paddy C I think the only reason why BMarsh was acting dumb when talking about basic gap assignments was to give Ray Lewis an opportunity to explain his defensive genius to the less informed audience watching at home.
Ray Lewis would make high school literature the most enjoyable class all day. He simply makes everything he says very intense.
Agreed BB!! u said it too too bro!!
He taught me how to get away with murder.
I like that Brandon is asking the questions that a skeptical person would want to ask so we can get full detail explanation. Football people love conversations like this.
Ray Lewis described defenses so well as if his freedom depended on it.
He needs to be a coach, that look in his eye is wild
He made so much sense on them plays I was blown away like this is why he Legend
Never seen someone so intense on a power point😂😂
He might be more inspirational then Morgan Freeman
@@2007dafranchise this is why him and Reed gave Tom Brady nightmares
Brandon marshall reminds me of that one person in class that can articulate a wrong answer so eloquently
I like that he actually asking questions and not stating the wrong stuff as fact. He kinda playin the role of the viewer
He's acting like an amateur to be like the person watching at home I believe. He was in the league for like 14 years, I think he understands those issues.
😂😂😂
@@elijahnakumura4375 ohhhhh I guess you haven't seen him on First things First. This man says some of the dumbest things. Especially when talking about basketball.
@@JumpOffBiggSean nahh I havent seen him before this clip. Just started back on the football ish
It's sad how we talk a lot about how physically gifted are these players, and not about how intelligent they are. Offensive lineman, linebackers, safeties... Those guys think so fast it looks like they guessed and got lucky. But it isn't luck when you do that every game during your entire career.
Absolutely agree. Ray Lewis prided himself on leading his defenses the same as a QB leads an offense and it’s beautiful to watch.
I'm a Steelers fan and I love Ray. I've never seen someone so passionate about anything as Ray is about defensive football.
Life long Ravens fan, mad respect for Ben and Troy. Some of the greatest players and battles of all time
Imagine a fusion of Ray's all time Baltimore defense with Troy's Iron curtain SHEESH
You should see Ray murder.
@@ishyameru6232 We kinda saw it when James Harrison and Troy were both at their peaks. Thats why we were able to compete against Ray Lewis and Ed Reed. We had mirrored defenses.
Ray would have me playing like my life depended on it...

Facts lol
Hopefully my Eagles give him a call. Jim Schwartz overrated AF
@Jake Shattuck I miss the days when Peyton Manning and Ray Lewis would play each other. The amount of yelling and mindgames happening before each snap was so entertaining.
I don’t think the ppl replying got the joke lol
“Don’t hit me. Don’t hit me.” Something I’m sure Ray Lewis heard a lot during his career.
I keyed on this too
underrated comment XD
On the field or at clubs?
😂
Or "dont stab me"
That’s why he was the best at his position. Much respect for this man.
Every time I listen to Lewis breaking down plays all I can think is, "Is he talking about football or life?" Lewis would be equally successful as a defensive coordinator or motivational speaker.
Or prison inmate.
This was a joy to listen to
Exactly its like he said communication is the key

“Peyton Manning of Defense “
Did anybody else hear Brandon Marshall say "Ray,Don't Hit Me?" with genuine fear?
I think he is just trying to match the energy and banter of Ray.
Lmaooo
Bmarsh know Ray killed a man before, he scared.
He already told Marshal to cut it out 😂
loool i was dead when he said that
Damn ray schooled everyone. It make since on why the ravens were the best defensive team in a long run
When Brandon Marshall said “don’t hit me”, he really meant “don’t step on my J’s”
Bart Scott & Ray Lewis are a breath of fresh air. To hear a Defense's perspective about gms is gold when every other show talks about offenses. Offense wins games but Defense wins Championships.
@Bro Jesus Hell no, Brandon Marshall confuses NFL with the NBA sumtimes. I was referencing that Bart Scott also speaks from his LB experience in the league like Ray does. He's on ESPN, but I forget the name of the show. Those 2 together would dominate NFL talk show's.
That’s why they were so good on the field together
Facts
Ray absolutely right, there are no fans, yeah they using sound machines and some fans, but defenses not communicating is unacceptable.
Can Ray Lewis be our defensive coordinator
Ray still has that look in his eyes
Man its so damn scary ..just a man amongst men
@A J cuz he is
that look like he wants to stab somebody
It’s almost like he just shot someone from an suv, gave the weapon to a cousin inside the vehicle and said “here, you take this, I’ve got too much to lose”.
Ray Lewis got that look from Mike Singletary.
Ray still has the passion for football that most players today lack. Love this man
Can we just get him to break down defensive reads and plays like this on a weekly? So much passion!! We miss it
Ray lewis "if you all wrong then your all right." That just hit different.
I Was hella confused but it made sense like a uncle trying to tell you the street ant for you
I don’t get it
@@andrescervantes4348 Because if the entire defense is on one page then that is more important than any given play's results. A defense moving in unison will yield better results overall even if they mess up on the occasional play. Even if it is the wrong call, it is the right strategy.

@@CorporalTank11 wrong
I'm not surprised he knows a lot about D, but Ray Lewis is surprised me with just how good he is to watch talk about it.
Really? I could hear Ray Lewis talk about painting and I would buy brushes with overnight shipping. He has always spoken with passion about football and it’s always been infectious.
Thats the type of guy you need before a test. Have you thinking you aced it before even taking it.
???? Lol have you ever heard Ray's pregame speeches? You don't be one of the best leaders in football and not be able to talk about the sport like it's breathing.
4:38 brandon was like "dont hit me, dont hit me" lol those memories of hits started to come back
Absolutely brutal play by 41. He went straight into the line and gave Henry a wide open lane.
Yeah that was terrible linebackers play. Seen hs lbs read quicker and better.
Horrible, he's the weakside backer. Literally his job description is cut back. Why are you jumping outside of your job description?
Football is a team game and if you can't play as a team you'll never win shit.
@@mroverdose14 He wanted to be the hero, and it cost his team big.
Back when Saquon Barkley was at PSU, there was a game against Michigan where the whole defense was keyed on Barkley. One touchdown that game put him in motion on a sweep, the entire defense ran after him and the QB walked a touchdown in the other way.
@@themerrill Yeah, it happened to me once in highschool as drop down safety. Never happened again once I got into college. He has to improve from the mistakes not repeat them.
"If you're all wrong you're all right" My position coach in high school told me the same thing.
Can you break break that down?
Must have been a great program I’m sure of that .
@@reggiebrownjr9105 it’s means at least they’re all on the same page
Ray Lewis and the Ravens preached that philosophy, trust that your brother needs you to do your job
Trussss. But I actually see Patrick queen almost doing the same thing Lewis is speaking. He's patient, waits for any gaps he sees and covers it.
@@ValenNitto That comes with communication, you see Chuck every play communicating the play before it happens. It's pretty cool to see tbh
Yup Chuck Clark has the green dot. He calls the plays on defense and does communicate pre-snap
Belicheck is the same way
He’s the reason the Baltimore Ravens have 2 SB rings.
And the best defensive outfit out of any franchise in the 2000s
More so Joe Flacco the second time around 1,140 passing yds 11 tds no picks. 117 passer rating
@@actiontank4131 Flacco was rarely amazing, just a game manager. Just do decent and don't do anything stupid and the D will take care of the rest. Stay out of the way basically. He did have a couple times where he transcended that and played great, though.
@@EB-bl6cc I disagree a game manger would be someone more like Trent Dilfer. He had 4 TDS and 4 ints. That 2000s defense I give full credit for. Flacco was a huge part of that Super Bowl run 2012. He had solid numbers in the regular season and had one of the best playoff runs by a QB in nfl history. Don’t forget he won SB mvp. Ray Lewis was always a great leader but was a shell of himself during that playoff run
@@actiontank4131 what I was saying is flacco was a game manager for 99% of his career, but he did have flashes of briliancy like that 1 super bowl run you are referring to. But on the whole he was definitely not an elite QB, just an above average game manager, probably won't make the hall
I liked how he broke the defense down so eloquently. He should definitely be a coach.
Brandon,
What Ray is leaving out, is the fact the individual defenses don't have 10% of the football acumen that he holds.
Naw. That was pretty simple tbh.
Luke kuechly was probably the linebacker closest to come to ray’s level communication , athletic, productive and leader.

@Dre Thomas It's like that saying "once you go Black..." 😂😭😭
I did too that man got a firm grip but it was honor to meet him man.
Sorry to hear about every bone in your hand being broken.
He said “dont hit me” lmao
Ray Lewis has so much passion and knowledge for the game, he absolutely loves teaching you and giving you real insight. You can tell he has so much knowledge that he wants to get out as quick as possible because they don't give him enough time on T.V to go in depth for a long period of time.
He's right. Its across the board in all sports. The fundamentals are disappearing
@@anthonygrizzly6924 Following your shot depends on the team’s transition defense set up by the coach. Are you really going to tell a team to send them four guys to the boards when going against a team like Golden State?
Same thing in boxing Wilder didn't even have footwork or head movement. Comes down to coaching though not the players.
It is an indictment on the NFL that Ray is not at least a DC right now!! All these scrub coordinators that "think" they know football are heavily employed. Smh!
I'm not sure he wants to be a coach. That is an incredibly time consuming job. He has a family he wants to spend time with, and it's not like he hasn't reached the pinnacle of his profession.
@@alexanderrose1071 exactly! Maybe he don't won't that type of responsibility.
We have Wink who is So So from week to week but those blitz’s he calls sometimes are terrible
@All_22_NFL_Cuts kool I’ll check it out no doubt!!! See the problem is we always tend to draft OLB that can pass rush. Because we like to move guys around but the NFL is Changing with QBs like Mahomes an Wilson guys who can just destroy a blitz just by moving around in the pocket. We finally have a pure pass rusher in Yannick so maybe now we can get good pressure with losing coverage. An maybe start drafting pure DEs that a pass rushers first that can win their one on ones an get home without us giving up big plays by blitzing so much
Coaching requires more skills than just knowledge and leadership. It requires the ability to manage people and navigate office politics under insane scrutiny and pressure. He may not have those other skills or doesn't want that stress.
I love these guy’s chemistry! Really dope to hear Ray dissecting the cores of defense now in days..and Brandon an offensive minded guy who played wr break down coverages, debating and cracking jokes.
I love the passion Ray has when talking defense.
he should be a coach
Ray as a head coach woo boy I'm automatically bandwagoning to that team.
Omg me 2
He should be a defense coordinator for the ravens but not head coach John harbaugh is a really good head coach
Even just as a D.C, I'm in.
He’d murder the competition
same
That was probably the best explanation I have ever heard on defense. I am a die hard steeler fan for almost 50 years but I can listen to Ray Lewis talk defense all day.
Ray does a great job - compelling video to watch. I like the passion!
Defensive tackling has been so horrible this year. I’ve never seen so many missed and broken tackles and extra yards from contact in my life. What in the world is going on???
🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️
Tackling has been horrible for nearly two decades now.
I used to praise champ Bailey for being such a great open field tackler and that had to do with most corners not being able to.
I'm guessing it's due to a lot of things like some people don't want to get hurt or just terrible technique
because the players are exercising social distancing.
it's probably because of the strict rules, so players are more cautious. but even then, i don't think it excuses them of terrible tackling technique lol it doesn't make sense, right? best players in the nation but don't know how to wrap up properly
Defensive players are still Transitioning techniques to fit current rules. It's gonna take a few generations for players to find the correct hit and wrap up that doesn't result in a penalty
Dudes don’t want to have to wrap up Derrick Henry and other guys like that. Especially late in the game.
RAY REALLY NEED TO BE A DEFENSIVE COACH SOMEWHERE.
Ray’s a KILLER Analyst. Great Job.
i think i see what you did there
Ray was right on the mark with this I love seeing these amazing plays but I miss the days where defenses were more abundant and games were 28-21 at the most. We need smash mouth football back.
YES!
I need payton manning as my head coach and Ray as my defence of cordinator.. Thats a dynasty..
SHEEEESH that is a duo built to win
Bill head coach Payton offensive coordinator Ray defensive coordinator
@develon Anthony I’ll take Peyton he’s an offensive genius
The demand they’d have for their players would be too high. Players don’t love the game as much as they do. They’d get too frustrated and end up quitting.
@@liberphilosophus7481 That's better. Don't know if Peyton could deal with the egos.
OOOo I love this! Brandon was asking great questions and Ray answered them with perfection. I NEED more of this!
This was SO SO SO well done. Loved it. Would love to see some examples of defenses that are communicating well.
God I love ray he talks so passionate about defense truly one of the greatest defensive minds in football....it’s like he’s ready too suite up and play next week
"Boy stay wit Suga, I'll teach ya sum" 😂 Classic... Ray is Ol School
Such a great segment. I love hearing Ray talk about Football as much as he loves Football. So passionate. Say what you want about the legal problems in the past, but he's a great ambassador for the NFL.
I love how much Ray feels like a child while explaining this.
Ray sounds EXACTLY like my high-school football defensive coaches. Gap responsibilities, communicating with your team mates, and everyone fly to the tackle. I love the passion for defense!
1:10 I don't know but number 41 didn't look interested in meeting Henry in that empty gap, he misaligned to the stack gap on purpose to me 😂
totally agree
Tell it like it is!!!!
In his defensive meeting that week the coach definitely said "41 you are the MIKE on this play if 29 comes your way you have to make this tackle"
@@mannjayy "You get out and tackle him Coach."
concur!
Thank you Ray, for telling it like it is, defenses are terrible this year.
And he's right, I'm not seeing the communication I usually see from LB's.
Luke Kuechly comes to mind when I think about the last great communicating LB I've seen.
It's just like in basketball, call out the pick!
Reality is the physicality in 2020 has declined defensively. Dbs have no interfesteing in tackling and teams wanting smaller linebackers to compensate for a more pass happy era has resulted in linebackers getting bullied in the run game more and more
@@Corey41929 I have been noticing that too. Teams would rather have big strong safety playing in the box, rather than an actual run stopping linebacker. I understand the game has been changing and become a pass league, but good run defense is still important, which can be seen through this film.
Love this, Great Great stuff
This was awesome to watch and listen! 😎👏🏻👌🏻
If funny cuz Shannon & Ray always know what they are talking bout. These type of guys have committed(THEMSELVES) to the game of football. Us regular ppl will never understand how it really is on the field

Yo, this is amazing! If Ray teaches Football, he might greatly increase the general viewers enjoyment of Defensive Football.
The league likes offenses like the chiefs, Seahawks, ravens. Basically unstoppable. Can't hit qbs or receivers. They just run right past you or they throw a flag
The way the rules handicap and penalize defenses sucks so much.
Which is why i always put the 2013 seahawks as the best defense ever. To do what they did in a league built for offense was incredible. They could stop the run just like past great defenses but there secondary pass coverage was the best we've seen. No disrespect to the no fly zone but give me the LOB anyday of the week.
Gotta appreciate that some of those QBs have stated they dislike all these new rules too. Wilson came out and said if he didn't wanna get hit he wouldn't play football when they made the rule about landing on QBs. He very rarely bitches when he's hit too, usually just pats the guy on the back.

Ray - "Class is in Session" - Lewis. PhD in chaos and football. Ultimate professional
He's absolutely right. It's the little details that makes such a huge difference play by play. That's why you need a safety who can communicate with the secondary and a LB who can communicate with the front 7. Guys like Ray and Ed studied the game so much that they knew what was coming and it showed. Most people like points on the board but I love defensive battles.
In the first clip even I would’ve seen that hole he ran right into traffic at first there was only one way he could’ve gone
