  • OUTCRY examines the gripping story of high school football star Greg Kelley, his controversial conviction and the quest for truth and justice as the case unfolds.
The 5-part series premieres July 5th at 10 pm E.T/P.T on SHOWTIME
Kelley had incredible momentum going into his senior year of high school in Leander, Texas, but that came to a sudden halt in the summer of 2013 when he was arrested and convicted of super aggravated sexual assault of a four-year-old boy. After he was sentenced to 25 years in state prison without the possibility of parole, a groundswell of support emerged, calling into question the investigation, the prosecution’s tactics and ultimately, the validity of the conviction. Over the course of three years, filmmakers capture a divided community and follow the principal participants on both sides of the appeal process as they work in pursuit of opposing truths.

I don’t know how during the original investigation they missed the glaring fact that both Greg and Johnathan look alike and all Johnathan had to do was suggest to the child that his name was Greg to cause a mix-up. It was a glaring fact immediately. They could be fraternal twins.

So I’ve just watched the entire series. They mention there were “dark forces” in Greg’s case. Those “dark forces” were Shama McCarty. She manipulated Greg as a scapegoat for her son Jonathons crimes from the very beginning. She was pushing for Greg to move in with her family when his parents got ill, it was mentioned her sons were convicted of sex related crimes before this timeframe in question, it was mentioned that Greg & Johnathon look identical & she never defended Greg at all during his trial. I want to know how much power & influence she had over the police investigation & court process?? I think this cover up goes a lot deeper then the documentary mentions & a young mans life, reputation & innocence have been destroyed because of it 👿😢

So many questions after watching this documentary. Did Jake Brydon finance it? What is Jake's motive to be involved in this case? Was it political, religious, sexual, or all of the above? I get the feeling Greg's family was vulnerable and Jake took advantage of them for his own gain. I really get a creepy vibe from Jake.
Where was Greg's father during this whole ordeal? I believe he had a stroke but I don't know how much damage it did to him. Were Greg's parents divorced or separated? Was the father on bad terms with Greg and why?
How did this daycare get a license when the kids were being exposed to non-workers? Is this legal to have a daycare in such a non-protected environment? Is the daycare still in business?
Did they ever go back to the first child and ask him whether it could have been Johnathan? Why didn't Greg point out that it could have been Johnathan? Does Johnathan have dirt on Greg? Seems strange for Greg to be so distant and not caring about justice, just his freedom.
Why wasn't more time spent on Johnathan's parents and what their relationship was and is to Johnathan?
It's great Greg ended up free. Strange how so many people were behind him right away. Is it because Greg is an attractive football player who represents something "more"? Was there a religious side to this story and Greg's followers?
All in all an interesting story. The filmmakers could have done so much better.

I wasn't able to watch all five parts of this story; I only watched the first one.
So could someone tell me if those child advocates ended up apologizing to Greg after they went on air, saying they _knew_ he was guilty? Hey, I get their stance to protect kids, and that's an admirable trait. However, when they get it wrong, like they clearly did in this case, I would think the response _should be_ for them to apologize to the guy.
Or did they double down like the police did and still claim they believe Greg did it? Many times, it _is_ that. Mark Twain is given credit for this quote: _"It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled,"_ and that's usually why-pride and ego preservation-people never come around.
It seems obvious that it was Jonathan McCarty who did it. It seemed like that kid was coached to rat out Greg because, at least from watching a _buttload_ of _Law & Order: SVU_ episodes (many times over), children _usually_ have to be prodded to speak out against their abusers; usually, there are signs that there is something wrong with the kid, and it's not until _after_ an investigation is performed that those kids _reluctantly_ give up the abuser or abusers. But that kid gave up the ghost to his mother _immediately?_
The first thing I thought was that maybe someone had it in for Greg and did that to that kid (and probably the other kid) and then told both of those kids to say it was "Greg, or else." And that's what seemed to have happened?
This case made my blood boil, and that was just after watching _only_ the first episode! 😝

That pompous girl that believes Greg did this keeps saying 'they believe without evidence.' Tell us when the 4 year old says what happens why didn't he cry? He was acting like it didn't matter at all. And he already knew what to say as though he was coached. No one knows the truth right now but a select few people.
