I really love the connection between Calvin and Tank, a unique bond they have. Unlike other duos based on yelling and bravado (Lopez Sr/Lopez Jr), Calvin knows his athlete very well and strategically knows what to say (even if looks counterintuitive to the outsider at times) to keep Tank calm and focused on the plan. Tank's bodywork in the 3rd 4th and 5th rd slowed Leo down and made him start backing up. Just before Leo ate that final devastating uppercut he was trying to protect his body with his right arm leaving his chin wide open.
I think there should be a rematch. The problem is simple: Cruise needs to learn how to angle his body 90 degrees to avoid being knocked out by a upper cut. He needs to learn the former Heavy Weight Champion ( George Foremen , Criss Cross Block ) this technique catches all upper cuts. Then is Cruise can also learn how to angle his body. So he needs to study all the body angles and to block in coming punches with his right or left shoulder cup. He needs to study all the 90 degree angles and move with the punch. By watching every fight , Floyd Money Merryweather ever fought. Example: The right hook is coming in, then move all the way out with that punch by angling the body go all the way out with that punch then angle the body 90 degrees to punch the left ribs. This will lower the head for a right hook to the jaw and followed up with a upper cut to the jaw. Also if he can angle his body to right of his opponents body. Then punch the liver. This will bring the head down. We saw if that fight when Ex Boxer Oscar Delahoya was punched in the liver. Two martial arts that help with angles and trapping the arms is: ( AIKIDO ) AND ( WING CHUN ). Both of these styles can be used in boxing to some extent. Its very important to watch all the fights of any up coming opponent. Study all their moves and strategies . So then practice is sparing how to counter them. Perfect Practice Makes Perfect . So this defeat was only a day in class for Cruise. Now he needs to step up his game. To learn where he made his critical mistake. He already new Davis likes to use the Upper Cut. So Cruise needs to study how to angle his body. Like former boxer : Floyed Money Merryweather. By angling the body and using the left or right shoulder rotator cup to block all in coming punches. Moving the head out of the line of fire. Also Cruise must learn the Former Heavy Weight Champion : George Foremen's ( CRISS CROSS BLOCK ) this defense can be used to catch upper cuts and if the body is angled avoid hooks to your jaw. Or the mastoid process. There should be a rematch. If Cruise does not learn where he made his mistake ,then he will make the same mistake . This fight was : Class in session . The rematch will be how Cruise can get his revenge in the ring. Then get all of Davis's belts. Also false hopes about Davis getting tired. That is a very stupid strategy . Cruise needs to stay in perfect shape and assume Davis can fight perfect all the way to 12 rounds. Cruise needs new strategy in his arsenal . The ( WING CHUN STYLE OF BLOCKING PUNCHES ) , ( THE AIKDO STYLE OF COUNTERING AND BLOCKING PUNCHES ). THE CRISS CROSS BLOCK OF FORMER HEAVY WEIGHT CHAMPION BOXER , GEORGE FOREMEN ) Then learn how to keep the head and jaw back to move with the punch. By watching all the fights of ( FLOYED Merryweather ) Angle the body go out with the punch then reverse your body to the right or left of the opponent . To punch the lower ribs. This will cause pain living the opponent open for a right hook to the jaw or upper cut to the chin. Or if Cruise can angle his body to punch the right lower area of his opponent . He can then learn how to punch his opponents liver and lower right ribs. This then will expose the chin for a upper cut. Plus leave the right jaw open for a hook with his left hook. There should be a rematch. Cruise needs to study all the fights of Davis and Floyed Merrryweather. Then how to counter .
