    There’s just one thing they forgot to point out when commenting, is that, Douglas tried to anticipate Hollifield Moving forward. In the sequence before you can see Hollyfield stepping forward as he jabs, he then faint as he comes stepping forward again, letting Douglas think he is coming in to jab. Douglas tries to anticipate the second jab with his upercut, but Evander take an immediate small step back instead of throwing the jab and counters with his right. Incredible read and instinct.

      Anthony S. Great analysis. People are saying Douglass shouldn't have led with an uppercut. Well he did. He tried to counter with the uppercut which was a good thing. But he missed timed Holy field since Holyfield didn't throw the jab that Busta was expecting. Busta didn't dona thing wrong by tryna counter with the upper. Just that Holyfield timed or fainted well

    • @Thomas-fk3cw
      @Thomas-fk3cw 5 년 전 +33

      The distance was all wrong on that uppercut. You need to be inside, when you unleash the uppercut. Look at Douglas' uppercut on Tyson in the highlight KO footage, or Tyson's numerous uppercut KOs, and on and on. Nobody throws those successfully from distance.

    • @Jimbo8012
      @Jimbo8012 5 년 전 +8

      @@Thomas-fk3cw - That's not strictly true. James J Corbett used to throw uppercuts from distance. You just have to be very fast to get away with it.
      Douglas just wasn't in shape and had put on 60 lbs between fights and even with training was over a stone heavier than he was against Tyson. Far too slow to land in this instance. Would have had far greater chance if he'd have been in the shape he was against Tyson.

    • @Keepdapocket
      @Keepdapocket 5 년 전 +4

      It is true. Never uppercut from distance, and never counter with an uppercut from a.boxers jab.
      So even if holyfield fainted the jab, a jab is to create distance and/or set up your punch. So yes holyfield fainted for a set up, but Douglas knows not to throw an uppercut counter of a jab.

      Regardless of the feints by Holyfield, that was absolutely foolish for Buster to throw the uppercut at that distance leaving him perfectly positioned for a hard counter punch. He should have not reached out with the uppercut beyond the safe range. It would have then just been a missed uppercut attempt and he would have not been vulnerable to the counter.
