I tore my achilles and thought I sprained my ankle for a week and continued to go to the gym and do my thing, it hurt and really did if my shoes were too tight, but I thought I just had a sprain and that's what the sorry ass urgent care told me. Pain started getting worse and the next week I saw a specialist and he knew it was torn right away and I had surgery a week after that. I guess maybe it's pain threshold or everybody is just different, but my blown achilles didn't have me falling out in pain and helpless either.
The Gamboa that fought Crawford would have given Davis that real work . Might have even beaten him. Gamboa is washed up here and has a bad Achilles, and still did well .

Re-watch 12:10-13:10. So sad to see how no one, the referee or Gamboa's team, cared about his well being even after Gamboa said I can't walk, I can't go, in spanish to his team when he was in the corner. Everyone watching could see Gamboa's leg was injured. No one wanted to make sure he was alright. They were more worried he would have to quite the fight prematurely if they indeed recognized he couldn't walk properly. The referee didn't even allow the doctor to look at him, and Gamboa's team didn't even make any effort to take off his shoe or request the doctor to see what was wrong. All they cared about was that he get back up and fight. As soon as the crowd got angry the referee told Gamboa the next round would begin. They were more worried about how they would look if the fight ended early. How about thinking about the well being and the health of the fighter! This is a perfect example with what is wrong with the world today. Anyway, imagine how more entertaining the fight would have been with a healthy Gamboa.

FACTS NEED TO DO BETTER
Davis didn't look great here. It took him to the 12th round to KO a nearly 40 year old Yuriokis Gamboa, who spent 10 rounds fighting on 1 foot.
All the respect in the world to Gamboa for having the balls to actually keep it somewhat competitive in spite of such a serious injury.
Serious injury he was walking perfectly fine and was perfectly ok until Davis dropped him. Davis hit him while he was trying to run and he lost power in his legs and fell down awkwardly almost a split putting and a lot pressure on his Achilles or ankle or Davis broke his shoe lol but at least give Davis credit. Also Gamboa was fine at rd 5 started letting his hands go and got worked and started holding again trying to survive. He is dominating every single fight where is the hate coming from? Do you have no respect for the sport boxing? Gamboa held the whole time while getting destroyed and you praise him for it. The only reason he not quitting the fight is that he wants to get paid and uphold his reputation to be able to keep making money from fights. He used experience to stall and the ref came to the corner to tell them to stop holding. The match lasted so long because Floyd was telling Davis to take his time and his corner said multiple times you don't need to try to knock him out. They are still trying to mold Davis into tactical fighter like Floyd was but better and Gamboa refused to fight. Check what commentators said Davis told them at the 30:00 min which was He never planned to overpower him he was showing his skillset. We all know if let his hands go it would have been over a long time ago. Most guys make the mistake of letting there hands go vs Davis but Gamboa Knew from the start. The commentators said key victory for Gamboa right at top "DON'T SQAURE UP" which sounds like keep running to me. Davis had to hunt him the whole fight while Gamboa not throwing punches so Davis remained cautious for counters .Now take note of the times Gamboa does connect vs Davis because you will notice he cant back him up or hurt him. Even before the first knockdown Gamboa was already running and back up constantly. This was an experience match for Davis and it was a pure pay day for Gamboa. Key victory for Gamboa don't square is so Hilarious its rare to here that. His only way to win was by decision and force Davis to miss for 12 rounds lmfao. He is nicknamed tank for reason nothing Gamboa threw was effective but Tanks conditioning was not best I have to admit.

Maybe this was just an off night, but it doesn't look great when you consider this is the most worthwhile opponent he's had since Pedraza.

I’m not really into all that much boxing but I’ve watched a couple of Gamboa‘s fights and I know for a fact every time he feels embarrassed like with that first down just this crazy rage just comes out of him and he basically throws his technique and strategy away and starts boxing the hell out of the opponent I like it about him
Gamboa is such a fine boxer, courageous and undaunted. Entering round two, he showed signs of an ankle injury, a complaint his corner ignored. Little wonder lost the fight, but I love his courage.

I recognized that too. Torn my achilles last summer but I had completely torn mine. I think his might have had a tear but not a complete tear because you physically can't walk. Your calf is not connected to you achilles anymore so standing, leaning or walking on that foot is not an option.

The uppercut is such an effective punch because the closer you can keep the power into the center of your body the more power you will have. When you throw a hook so much of the punch is dependent on the shoulder but that is not the case with the uppercut.

Dang. Ref did’t even give the man a chance to get up at all. Great fight from two great fighters. Just hate to see someone come so far but yet, stopped by a ref. Crazy. Keep up the good fight both Davis & Gamboa.
The fight was already coming to an end and you can see Gamboa stumbling to get back up on his feet. The referee made that call to protect the fighter. No way Gamboa was going to make a come back from that.
If there was no ref to stop the fight a lot of these fighters would be seriously injured. They do it for a reason. Gamboa was taking some serious damage.

I was watching some of his training footage and he was training pretty hard but I think the type of training he's doing might not be correct. Conditioning is an art and science in and of itself and if you got people having you do the wrong things it can screw you up.

This fight should've happened back in 2017. Davis was a fresh champion and should've made good and steady defenses with guys like Yuriorkis. Say if Gamboa won his fight with Castellanos in may (which should've been on the Canelo vs Chávez Jr. undercard) he could've gotten the title in July from Corrales and unify with Davis on the Mayweather vs McGregor undercard since Gervonta was looking for an opponent at the time. That would have been great instead of Gervonta fighting 🍒 Fonseca, it's fun to to speculate!
