I do not see a reason why the Patriots wouldn't make the playoffs with Cam. They have been lead by who is arguably, the best head Coach in the NFL, and now with a QB that can do extraordinary things when focused on winning. With decent protection for Cam from the OL and a fair DL able to apply pressure to other QBs, sky's the limit for this team.
They still have to play the game. Counting Cam and Belichick out is crazy.
Cam has a high risk, high reward situation right now. He's on center stage of the Patriots as the follow up act to Tom Brady to show the world he still has it. The only stage bigger is "AmEriCa'S TeAm" the Cowboys. If he does well, he'll get a new contract but if he doesn't this might be it.

2018 would've been a great season for Cam if they didn't let him get hurt and actually upgraded the offensive line. He would've been healthy by 2019 if they shut him down the rest of 2018 after that Pittsburgh game. You can't look at Cams stats the last few years and use that against him. That's on Rivera. That's on the Panthers medical staff. That's on the Carolina Panthers.

This is a fresh start and great situation for a talented player. All Cam need is 1 trophy, I believe they can do it. If Belichick can accomplish half of what he did with Brady through the 2nd half of Brady’s career, then this by far was the best move for the pats.
