The comparison is only because of the ongoing negotiations and the implications of resetting the market. All negotiations will always be bench marked based on the floor and ceiling, so it automatically changes the bargaining price.

There's a part of the deal that allows the chiefs to reevaluate the contract 2 times before the 10 years are up, which also allows them to cancel the 2 year guarantee plan.
Mahomes can also ask to reevaluate it once or twice I believed, but if he decides to end the contract at any of those times I know the 2 year guarantee is gone.

Sometimes, it's all about luck. In 2018 season, if the Patriots were not in the way, there's no doubt the Chiefs would've gone to the Superbowl. The Titans was a godsend for the Chiefs.
I don’t know how this affects Dak Prescott’s contract really. Dak is not even close to being the kind of QB Mahomes is.

They couldn't dissect a contract like that in that short of a time period. So, they could only take it for face value, it's an insane number.
That being said...
Football isn't baseball, Mahomes will never see all that money. As a matter of fact, he would have made more money the next 5 year being tagged than he makes in this deal which means this deal is LOADED on the back end. I can't see a QB who will be beat up and in his mid 30's getting 40mil+ a year, NO WAY.
The fact that Dak thinks he deserves that type of money blows my mind....
