If i had to pick up my daughter from detention on a saturday and she comes out and makes out with a dude on my hood, I would jump out of the car and beat the fuck out of him

Dear Mr. Vernon,
We accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it was we did wrong. But we think you're crazy to make us write an essay telling you who we think we are. one thing i love about the makeover is that they didn't change allison's personality. she's still super fidgety and confrontational, the makeover is just the first part of her opening up. like even in the kiss she's still kind of bouncing up and down on her toes and when she steals the patch that's priceless lmao
james tara liem i also love that throughout the movie Andrew is INTO her anyway - itβs just with the makeover sheβs opening up so he knows itβs okay to show he likes her in that way but itβs clear heβs talking to her a lot, likes her and looks at her a lot throughout the movie
I want to give like but likes number 666

i think she was better before the makeover- i dont think it was her opening up but i might be missing something
They still make her get a makeover to be accepted. What was wrong with her old look? This movie is just teaching kids that they have to fit into a specific aesthetic to be accepted

Simply one of the best coming of age movies, ever. I must have watched it a couple of dozen times over the years. I almost can't believe that the movie is over 30 years old.
@SennaFan why?
@SennaFan really? Are stereotypes differ from high school clique
@SennaFan yeah ik, that why i hate modern
Its not cliche its clique like you know nerds, jocks, ot preps
@SennaFan does that goes also with new disney original movies or the remake live action ones?
The ending speech has so much meaning , I never noticed until I was older how much it actually has...
Can you explain? i always hear and read it
@@DialRforRad The teacher wants them to write about who they think they are, but "the brain/nerd" points out, who someone is differs depending on the point of view and what they found out is that they had shared aspects of every stereotype in them, leading to the comradery, friendship and common ground found when any group of people look past superficial differences and stop judging. In a sense, it eludes to humanity being infinite potential and we don't need to be held back by stereotypes imprinted upon us by crappy teachers and their like, nor do we have to stick to those stereotypes that make us miserable.

I love when Bender looks at the School after putting Claire's earing in his ear. At 1:55, it's as if he is thinking "School isn't all that bad." Like he's happy to finally be apart of it.
Hes looking at the school like wtf just happened
Maybe as an 80s high schooler myself, I see it a bit differently: it looks to me like he got a brief glimpse of what it feels like to look Back at high school...if you don't know this feeling already...... some day you will..

One thing I've not seen acknowledged during this is Bender's expression from 1:39 - 1:58. He stares off with this shaken, yet contemplative expression on his face, as if he knows his whole life has changed forever but he can't quite put his finger on why. He doesn't know if he'll ever talk to Claire or the others again, but he understands that even if he doesn't, what happened during that Saturday detention will be something he'll remember for the rest of his life.

It's not until you get older I think, that the ending of this film really takes it's full gravity on you. This is without a doubt, one of the finest endings ever put to film. It's just my opinion, but I feel like this film defines a generation.
Mate.... That is absolutely spot on...
Well put. Very well put.
It defines just the average person growing up in highschool but OK
How could you not be moved by this ending. This film will be an icon long after weβre all gone. And to thing I only missed the 80s by a couple years
β@@weebsmcgee7012They all have nostalgia goggles on, guess we can let them have their moment but I agree with you.
Andrew being so infatuated with Allison the *entire* length of the movie is probably my favorite romantic bit. He's always looking at her, he's enamored with her even from the beginning and all the way to the end. He gets in his dad's truck and still stares at her through the back window. Of the two couples, they genuinely seemed to like one another and I could see them (secretly) staying in touch and even dating.
He just like me

It amazes me how simple yet effective a lot of these older movies are. Just high school teenagers sitting in a school library for detention in the 80's, but it's such inspiring and emotional acting in movie history.

Why does this make my cry? Like what, and especially at the ending when he says β sincerely yours, the breakfast clubβ and THE SONGGGG
It can be any number of reasons. Each of the students has had a profound, eye opening experience. Some of the are feeling hope for the first time. It could also be nostalgia- that Simple Minds song triggers many memories.
End of High school..End of Youth beginning of being a adult first stage of Growing up by the time they 30 look how many would have died
i always get goosebumps when bender raises his hand and the song intensifies
Man, what if Bender's actual motive is that he goes to detention every Saturday to purposely help the kids there? That's some next level theory shit lol
I get what you're saying. That fist pump at 2:35 is like him saying "my work here is done"
Next level thinking!
@@MrDeadhead83holy shit I never thought of any of it like that
Great perspective. I didn't think of that theory but I did think about him going to detention every Saturday so he can escape his own struggles as a abused teen.. Especially when they were demonstrating their interactions with their parents, he low-key was envying the fact that they were loved. When he shoved the books on the ground, that broke my heart
I love the fact that Bender closes the movie with that iconic fist. He was really the most important character of the movie.
The way John tries to lean onto Claire after their kiss, I love it a lot. Heβs really into her.
Allison was just too hot after the makeover --- I bet Andrew thought he was the luckiest dude on Earth LOL
Honestly she was hot before the makeover, in a weirdly dark sort of way.
@@Ethan-dn1wc I thought so to

δΈεγ©γδΉγδΉ same here
She's way cuter before the makeover. Like I get it, it's to make her more confident but I really like her style.
A nice little touch I like is Brian acknowledging Carl first, and not being embarrassed to know him. In the beginning Carl greets Brian first and he gets embarrassed, but now he's gained the confidence and the courtesy to acknowledge Carl without caring what everyone else thinks
I just noticed that the verses are played in relation to each couple.
Andrew and Allison get the first verse with "Tell me, all your troubles and doubts" while John and Claire get the second with "Will you stand above me? Look my way or walk on by"
That's pretty cool.
35 years later... I still get chills
Thank you John Hughes

It is entirely unnatural how much I love this movie.
Wow, Iβve seen this movie sooo many timesβ¦ more than I can count. I watched the ending just now, and for the first time kind of picked up on the things that I never saw before. This day was pretty much the beginning and the ending of The Breakfast Club. Itβs all right there in front of us. The taking of the patch... the giving of the earring... that subtle and foreboding sense of sweet togetherness alongside bittersweet separation... and the realization that something really special (though ridiculously brief) is coming to an end.
