Thereβs a two-decade gap between Alien: Covenant and Alien, and while this new film provides a direct line of action from Prometheus to Alien, it doesnβt entirely lead up to that original film. Scott has ambitious plans for the future of the Alien franchise: he says Alien: Covenant is βone of three sequels to Prometheus that will take the saga to the βback entranceββ of the original film.
Heβs also said he can keep this story going for another six films. He said heβs writing the next film now, and that heβs aiming to have it in production within the next 14 months. Itβs unclear what that film will be about just yet. Back in March, Scott referred to a film called Alien: Awakening that might take place between Prometheus and Covenant, but heβs also referred to Blomkampβs canceled film as Awakening.
Ridley Scott revealed he was planning two sequels to Prometheus which would lead into the first Alien film, also stating that there might be "even a fourth film before we get back into the Alien franchise." In November 2015, Scott confirmed that Alien: Covenant would be the first of three more films before linking up with original Alien, thus starting a new trilogy of sci-fi films, and stated that the Prometheus sequels would reveal who created the Aliens. According to an interview with Scott that took place on the set of Alien: Covenant in 2016, Scott had the screenplay for the third prequel film written while working on Alien: Covenant, so that he could "be ready to go again next year." Scott also mentioned the revived franchise might go on for even longer than previously mentioned; "I can keep cranking it for another six. I'm not going to close it down again. No way."
In March 2017, Scott stated that if Alien: Covenant and the film that would follow it were successful, he had plans for another three Alien films. Scott explained: "It will go Prometheus, Awakening, Covenant." In May 2017, Scott revealed that Alien: Awakening was originally the name of Neill Blomkamp's since-cancelled Aliens sequel. 20th Century Fox is currently reassessing the sequels pitched by Scott, due to Covenant under-performing at the box office. In the audio commentary for Alien: Covenant, Scott confirmed that a sequel to Alien: Covenant, tentatively referred to as Alien: Covenant 2, is being written by John Logan, with Fassbender, Waterston and McBride reprising their roles. Scott also confirmed that the film will cap his prequel series, leading directly into the events of Alien. In an interview with Variety on September, Stacey Snider, the current chief-executive-officer of 20th Century Fox, stated that while Alien: Covenant was a financial disappointment they still trust Ridley Scott to know the right story and to proceed with the sequel. In an interview Ridley discussed how the film will center on the A.I. character David.
Either way, it seems as though Scott is now looking to set up the original Alien with these new films, rather than mess with the post-Aliens era.

Stupid unsatisfying ending to a movie that just gave an excuse for visual gore and violence. I wanted to find out if the Engineers were the ancestors of humans or was there someone else? Also how "perfect" is an organism that can only survive on animal life and has to go into some kind of hibernation or dies when it kills everything? Its like a virus that kills its host and has nothing else to infect.

Hopefully they will get rid of Ridley. He has been screwing the entire lore. Prometheus was good. But covenant was just an awful direction with the AI.

herman spamer, I think it's more he surrounded himself in the past with really talented people as far as writers. His recent movies have shown he is better at cinematography and the flow of scenes rather than developing a great story. He has had to explain too much after the movie instead of forcing his writers to answer those questions in the movie or filling in their plot holes himself during the movie. I do think his interest in AI was an old man's mistake to think it was a viable interest for the main antagonist. That was just lame.

At the time of me writing this it is August 9, 2020 and they still haven't released Alien Awakening on digital or anything. I wish they would just release it on digital and Blu Ray and be done with it.

In March 2022, The Hollywood Reporter reported that a new Alien movie set separately from the earlier movies is coming to Hulu directed by Fede Γlvarez and produced by Ridley Scott. Γlvarez pitched the idea to Scott years ago and now has the opportunity to make it. That November, Cailee Spaeny was announced to be in talks for the lead role. Rumors suggest that the film is going to be titled Alien Romulus.

Can someone plz tell me what movie is the alien/predator hybrid in? The alien with the predator dreadlocks. I just learned about that alien in the aliens, engineers and predators video explaining the connecting story line to the 3 movies but it didnt give the movie title to any of the movies so idk which movie that alien was in. Strangely I thought I saw all the alien and predator movies but haven't seen that one with that alien

Ridley Scott hated the AVP movies and will most definitely NOT be tying them in. I hope for a single film linking it to Alien, then the sequel that Sigourney Weaver wants, the Earth Hive/Female War saga, or something like it.

Xenomorph 2017 well Ridley said that the engies are coming back so I'm happy with that. Hated thinking that's how they went out in A.COV.

Prometheus was a good movie, Convenant was *certainly* not. It violated some obvious Xenomorph rules and the movie action scenes turned out poor. Compared to all the Alien movies, Convenant was a disgrace.

The very fact that I used the word Xenomorph should tell you how familiar I am with the lore. I've seen every Alien film up til now including that godawful resurrection, and I actually liked the third film (assembly cut). And I once owned some of the comics growing up. Covenant left me feeling underwhelmed, albeit not near as bad as Resurrection, but still pretty disappointed.
Didn't help the audience was giggling during parts of the movie too, but I digress.

You're putting a band aid on an Xenomorph acid burn. The prequels were awful and nothing matched to the actual events of the original (and way better) Alien series. You can technically shine a piece of crap (proven by the Mythbusters) but it's still crap. Any original Aliens fan will hopefully agree with this. The timelines and events don't line up at all and even if you could somehow align them, they are still bad. If yall have questions, feel free to ask.

ramadamada dingdong I know that people have their own opinions about the prequels just like star wars but there are too many loop holes in the plot and the whole feel of the two prequels just doesnt seem right compared to the original movies. They almost seem like they would be a part of an entirely different series. Take the xenomorphs out and you get a whole different feel and look and flow to the story.
Prometheus was good. Covenant was awful. Having the AI be the creator was just lack of imagination. Ridley set everything up to finally explain the space jockeys, then he just ruined the whole lore.
