I could have sworn in my previous posted comment, assuming that you were reading it, I was *ONLY* referring to the 1994 cartoon series of SPIDERMAN! Im not sure if you are aware of this series so do forgive me for spoiling it for you in advance!
Let's begin, In this series of Spiderman from era of 1994, Felicia's father is named John Hardesky!
Their real name is actually considered this way through her father in this series but it's shorten on purpose to protect their own and her father's identity!

The mother is Anastatsia Hardy! According to this series, Felicia's mother changed their last name without Felicia's knowledge not until she learned the identity of her father and his whereabouts because of his past! So Felicia mother went into hiding with a new last name to shield her daughter from her father's past if anything was to ever happen becuase of her father's history and the last name of his makes anyone connected to him a target! That is why they changed their last name to be later revealed as Hardesky's by the principal context of this SPIDERMAN CARTOON SERIES!
So going by this show's series Spiderman, Peter Parker learned that Felicia's father is
John Hardesky (father)!
Then Peter put it together to realize that John Hardesky is Felicia's daughter, and then peter took on his Spiderman costume persona and cornered Felicia's mother for the truth!!
Then Anastasia told Spiderman the truth!
In the series during the introduction of the black cat!
John Hardesky was a young boy who lived on the streets he was street wise and very agile on his feet as if he was a black cat! To that end as a young boy he had a very sharp mind very observant!
And so his talents were requested by a merchant who wanted information on certain detail! So the merchant called upon the young boy John Hardesky! The Merchant and the client convinced the young boy John Hardesky to ask of him for his talents to help spy on a group of people who are building a war machine known as the DOOMSDAY device! Unbeknownst to John Hardesky he willingly agreed because he thought under the pretenses that he was helping to serve and save his country America! Unfortunately, John Hardesky was very good at his job he sneaked into the lab and watched a skinny man go into water and then a switch was activated! And then suddenly John Hardesky saw the scientist lift the switch to release the skinny man from the contraption! And then in that room John Hardesky saw with the scientist that the same man who just out of the water just grew muscles and strong physique and demonstrated his new super human strength!! Then John Hardesky saw a shield given to this man with the colors of red, white, and blue and they called him the new savior of this cold war!
They called him in front of John Hardesky, Captain America!
Then in moments, John Hardesky became puzzled he questioned why would people I'm working for ask me to go spy on an American efforts to save our American people!
But as that came to John Hardesky's mind as he hid watching the interaction, John Hardesky quickly got distracted and watched one of the scientist come out yelling and smashing the machines that created this new assets to America!!
The deranged scientist yelled screaming!
Scientist in the name of the promise land, i will destroy this American man made machine!!
And then John Hardesky watched the new soldier subdue that deranged Nazis scientist and quickly carried and hauled everyone else back to safety but was too late to save the building from going on fire!
The brave new soldier screamed, "everybody out"!!
Then John Hardesky made his escape unnoticed after the brave soldier and scientist made their escape from the now going on fire broken down building!
As John Hardesky made his way back to the people he works for John Hardesky with his gifts was able to retain all of the information that John Hardesky saw and heard that was all contributed by all of those scientist to create the ingredients and formula needed to create a strong powerful soldier that John Hardesky saw with his own two eyes!
To that end after John Hardesky told somewhat of what he went through on this mission to his accomplices!! He had no idea that the people he was working for were a known group of NAZIS that were on a mission to defeat the USA in a cold war at any means necessary!
So the young John Hardesky was actually working for the wrong side!
He had soon realized the people he was working for are real Nazis who wanted information on the American Warmachine that was promised to defeat the Nazis in a cold war in the summation of words in that series of SPIDERMAN!
John Hardesky learned of the secret formula and he took the details to create this information with him to prison in his brain as a secret! However because John Hardesky although knew this information he still lived a life of crime as a thief! Not until finally NICK FURY from Shield finally caught him and locked John Hardesky up! What John Hardesky knew about the creation of Captain America would be too dangerous in the wrong hands! To Nick Fury from this series had John Hardesky obtained a life of being a product of society John Hardesky would have been able to know his daughter and watch her grow up and become the woman she was meant to be in this series of spiderman!
Privy to what you don't know according from this series of spiderman Wilson Fisk the KINGPIN made it possible to kidnap John Hardesky from NICK FURY's AIRCRAFT called "SHIELD' a security unit UNBREAKABLE FORTESS in the skies of NEW YORK where many dangerous detail criminals unfortunately like John Hardesky are locked up all those years ago!
And with that according to this series of SPIDERMAN King Pin managed to blackmail and force John Hardesky to tell KINGPIN and his scientist Milton to give them the ingredient to make and engineer the SUPER SOLDIER FORMULA! If John Hardesky didn't comply, KINGPIN was going to kill Felicia Hardesky his daughter and then come for his wife Anastasia Hardesky! The secret was ousted which forced John Hardesky to give up the information that the KINGPIN wanted! And in a day or two, Felicia was given the formula and when she puts on that mask she becomes an EMPOWERED STRONG and agile as CAPTAIN AMERICA! And Felicia decided to call his mask persona THE BLACK CAT after her own father who was a criminal known as a BLACK CAT according only to this series version of SPIDERMAN!! Yes there are other versions of SPIDERMAN but this particular was told this way! And i respect value this version above all others because it was daring, fascinating, breath taking, and amazing! Truly this series of SPIDERMAN was ahead of it's own time!
