Set in the 1990s, Captain Marvel follows Carol Danvers as she turns into one of the galaxy's mightiest heroes after the Earth is caught in the center of an intergalactic conflict between two alien worlds.
Captain Marvel is a 2019 superhero film based on the Marvel Comics superheroine Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel. It is the twenty-first movie installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as well as the ninth installment of Phase Three. Captain Marvel will appear in Avengers 4 (#InfinityWarPart2 film) in 2019 alongside the Avengers to help defeat of Thanos and restore the Universe.

Marvel Studios released the first Captain Marvel movie trailer. Starring Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, the 90s-set film will tell the origin story of the titular superhero. The Marvel Cinematic Universe marked its 10 year anniversary in 2018 with the release of three films - the wildly successful Black Panther, the monumental Avengers: Infinity War, and a solid sequel in Ant-Man and the Wasp. However, fans are looking ahead to the next Marvel Studios release and the company's first of 2019: Captain Marvel.
Marvel Studios released the first trailer for Captain Marvel, featuring a new look at Larson as Carol Danvers. The film co-stars Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Jude Law as Mar-Vell, Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, Lashana Lynch as Maria Rambeau, Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva and Mckenna Grace as young Carol. In addition to Fury, Captain Marvel sees the return of fellow MCU characters Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace) and Korath (Djimon Hounsou).
The trailer offers first looks at many of the main characters, including de-aged versions of Nick Fury and Phil Coulson, who will be younger than fans have previously seen since Captain Marveltakes place in the 90s (as evidenced clearly with the shot of a Blockbuster video store). Further, the trailer offers a great deal of insight into the character of Carol Danvers, who seems to return to Earth and not be sure whether she grew up there or not. We see flashes of her life both on Earth and in space, teasing the hero Captain Marvel will become in her solo movie.
What we don't see very much of is the alien threat that Captain Marvel will face in the film, though we know it to be the Skrulls. The trailer features a voiceover from Nick Fury talking about war, and there's a brief glimpse of Mendelsohn's Talos, a member of the Skrull race. Further, there's a shot of Captain Marvel punching an old lady on a train, which may be another Skrull since they're shapeshifters. All in all, the trailer teases the Kree-Skrull War that Captain Marvel will depict, but doesn't outright showcase it. Of course, that's to be expected with a teaser trailer. Additional trailers will no doubt dive deeper into the story.

With Jude Law in this movie, that means that two versions of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson have joined the MCU. Because every Marvel movie released up until the next Infinity War is going to be just that: Films that are released up until Infinity War. With all of the branches of the movies intertwining, it's difficult for any one individual to stand out or to overshadow the last great one. And realistically, the best MARVEL films to date having included all of the MCU characters, or more than one:
Perfect examples include: Civil War, Winter Soldier, The Avengers, Infinity War. Do you think the Captain America films would stand out if they didn't include other Avengers characters? The answer is "NO" but people will debate the matter. The only bit of rope I can give is the fact that this is Captain Marvel and nobody knows about her but nobody knew about Black Panther either so...

Well, to be fair, I didn't like him. But at first I didn't like Elba as Heimdall (seriously? an Asgardian with a deep dark skin? But he made a great job... if you ignore that fact) or neither I first liked the idea on the changes for Domino in DP2, but her character was interesting and seemed right. Let's hope this film is better than the trailer was.

I’m sorry but if she kills Thanos I’m gonna be so mad, she gets one movie and she can kill the biggest mcu villain. If someones going to kill Thanos it should be a character with character development, someone the fans have grown to love, not a op hype train with one movie that’s clearly been forced out so they can justify her magically appearing in the cinematic universe and killing the biggest current villain.

It should be all of the old avengers killing Thanos together. Tony subdues him with tech, cap punches him, hulk punches him harder, widow gets the glove off him, hawkeye distracts him by shooting him in the face and Thor actually goes for the head... Yeah I know, I was kinda disappointed that people were blaming it all on female mains and a SJW agenda... It's probably just bad writing and bad production because of greedy asshats that made this trailer seem so boring. Hopefully the movie is better, but if the same creative team behind the trailer is working on the movie... I don't know... hopes are real low.

Except that Captain Marvel used to be a guy (Billy Batson) that would say "Shazam!" and turn into Captain Marvel. Now they've turned his character into a comedy spoof movie, they call him Shazam, and they've turned the male character into this new Captain Marvel for a different movie. Yep, no feminist revisionism here folks.

First trailer or not, they showed it to us. They thought it was a finished enough product to be shown.
And don't think that the cgi will become okay just because the movie will go out in 2019 : people told me the same for Suicide Squad and it was garbage, people told me the same for the first trailer of Justice League and it was garbage too (tbf the trailer looked better than the actual movie)... dunno, I have a bad feeling about this one when it comes to cgi.
When you watch a trailer and think "Suicide Squad level of bad cgi", you have reasons to be scared.
I wanted to be more hyped. Captain Marvel has such badass powers...
