#LoveAndThunder is a sequel to Thor: Ragnarok, and Avengers: Endgame. The film will adapt a Lady Thor story arc from the recent Marvel Comics series The Mighty Thor. It is the twenty-ninth film in the MCU and sixth and final film of Phase Four.

Following the smash-hit success of his movie Thor: Ragnarok, Taika Waititi is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe once again to write and direct the fourth installment in the Thor series, Thor: Love and Thunder.
The film will see Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster take on the role of Lady Thor. It’s fair to say that this particular Marvel sequel won’t be one to miss.
Marvel boss Kevin Feige announced at Comic-Con that Natalie Portman will return to the MCU as Jane Foster. But this time around, she will reportedly become a female God of Thunder herself, when Thor is unable to lift his hammer due to apparent unworthiness (a theme previously explored in Avengers: Endgame and in a popular comic-book run that the film is directly inspired by).
On top of this, it’s been confirmed that Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson will return as Thor and Valkyrie.
It’s possible that Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk could appear in the film following his starring role in Thor: Ragnarok (Ruffalo supposedly still has one film left on his Marvel contract), or some team members from the Guardians of the Galaxy, last seen giving Thor a ride into space.

The enchantment that restricted people from lifting mjornir unless they were worthy was a spell cast by Odin.
Once odin died, all his enchantments ended which is why Hella was released the instant Odin died. The same goes for the enchantment of being worthy of mjornir.
Therefore as soon as Odin dies anyone who’s strong enough can lift mjornir.
That being said a human shouldn’t be strong enough so don’t know how Jane would be able to lift it - also mjornir is destroyed in ragnarok so that’s another conundrum lol

Because that's how it is in the comics, Jane Foster was always worthy of the hammer and probably the most worthy of all the heroes who lifted it. She became Lady Thor when the actual Thor was no longer able to wield the hammer.

even dc peps carried his hammer idk what ur perception of "too many people is" but i think its worse if Superman and Wonderwoman have held the hammer. the saying is just "whoever be worthy" and its so vague i bet a Buddhist monk can carry it. Thor having a break down and getting depressed and fat actually makes a lot of sense.
He literally lost everything and everyone he loves - and we have to remember because he’s over 1500 years old the relationships he had with his mother, father, brother, best friend were stronger and deeper than anything a mere mortal could ever experience.
On top of that he lost his home, half his people, and mjornir which to Thor was like losing a part of himself. I really felt for him in infinity war when I saw him.
I also think the writers did it because in end game they fight thanos without him having the infinity gauntlet - and Thor in his prime would be able to stand toe to toe with thanos if he didn’t have the gauntlet or any infinity stones in my opinion. But as he’d spent five years out of action getting fat he gets ruined by thanos.
Thor is by far my favourite and I agree I really hope they don’t kill him off I’d be devastated.

I think they were just trying to get at how much he lost which was literally everything. He lost more than anyone else in the MCU by far .

Also Thor isn’t a god he’s just a really powerful asgardian which are a superior race to humans. He will die eventually his people just have a longer lifespan - really annoys me they always refer to him as a god cos he really isn’t.
What was quite funny for me about fat Thor is I always watch the Thor/Avenger movies with the same friend - and since first Avengers I always say next Thor movie ima be as big and muscley as him. I’ve never succeeded - but with Infinity war we saw fat Thor and my mate was like well done mate you finally have the body of Thor !

In my opinion,this is how it should be...I really hope that IF Chris Hemsworth's contract is ending,then they should make Thor Love and Thunder's ending with two sons,Modi and Magni.Because,The title of Thor Love and Thunder has the word LOVE on it,so why not make like Thor's sons are born,right? Then,when Avenger 5 Young Avenger is going on,then maybe Modi and Magni can still represent as young avenger's thors,that way they wont make thor fans,like me,be disappointed...

Thor and Jane's reunion will likely be an awkward one considering that they would have broken up off screen before or around the events of Thor Ragnarok (I suppose super heroes and relationships don't always seem to mix too well). Then again, in Thor's defense: what was he supposed to do? For one, he literally lived worlds apart from Jane (at least up to Thor Ragnarok). It is kinda like how it was with Natalie Portman's Star Wars character: Padame and Anakin. When they first met, she lived on Naboo and was queen. Anakin was a slave boy on Tatooine (at least prior to the events in Phantom Menace). Later on became a senator for Naboo and Anakin joined the other jedi on Coruscant (at least until he turned to the dark side and turned into Darth Vader) and they still lived worlds apart (at least initially). And yet they still ended up in a relationship (despite the odds against them). Their relationship would be comparable to say a queen of England (or a similar royalty hypothetically / analogy) getting into a relationship with say some farmer from say Nevada or Arizona (mostly desert states). They live on different parts of the globe and different lifestyles too (basically unlikely relationships). In Thor, Jane lived in New Mexico (presumably as a scientist) and Thor lived on Asgard and was the norse "god" of thunder / superhero and was in the line to become future king of Asgard too should Odin die, which eventually he did in Ragnarok (he couldn't live in both worlds, so he had to choose). On top of that, he was a part of the avengers too, helping the heroes taking down various threats: Loki and the Chitaris in the first avengers movie, Ultron in Age of Ultron, and later Thanos in both infinity wars and end game. Not only did he live worlds apart from Jane, but he, had also been through alot too (especially with Asgard getting destroyed in Ragnarok and watching most of his fellow asgardians get killed by Thanos at the beginning of Infinity Wars). So it seems like his absences would be explainable. Perhaps Jane should have known what she was getting herself into by pursuing a relationship with him (either that or settled for one of the locals in New Mexico). Might have been better off as friends instead. Just sayin. Even I know it is good not to rush into relationships without thinking things through. Also, long distance relationships are hard to maintain too (not to say they can't work out, but the odds are against them lasting that way).

the problem isn't that jane's a girl, it's that she's not thor. replacing an og avenger with anyone, guy or girl or anything in between, is a terrible idea because everyone loves the og characters. they systematically took down all the og's in endgame (all of thor's development's thrown out the window, tony dies, cap leaves, widow dies, hawkeye retires, (again), hulk... idk downgrades i guess) and introducing new characters to head the mcu (spiderman = new tony, marvel/falcon = new cap, valkyrie/jane = new thor). the problem with specifically thor love and thunder is that they're not metaphorically replacing him, like with peter parker having the role of iron man but still being spider-man, but having someone else, namely val and jane, literally becoming thor. which is stupid because we love thor, enjoy val, and mostly hate jane. val is now the "king" of asgard (which was a stupid way to put it she's a woman at least call her queen) and jane will hold the hammer. idk how they don't realize that literally no one wants thor replaced, especially by characters we don't have much of an emotional attachment to. i genuinely hope they know what they're doing better than we do and pull something to change this up. point being though that if Valkyrie and jane were men it would be just as infuriating

@Smalcloud Transformice I think I agree with you a little bit. Like with the scene where all the women showed up to protect thegauntlet in endgame, that was so forced and weird. And I think that if the MCU wanted to show real female representation they’d have more than one female-led superhero movie, a better main character ratio than 5:1 men:women, and not objectify and damsel so many female characters in male-led movies. So agreed that the female representation in the mcu isn’t super genuine and they could do better.
At the same time though... they do have to start somewhere. They’re putting out 3 female-led movies in phase 4 I think, which is 3 times more than we’ve gotten, and I’m really happy that this is happening. That includes love and thunder, as far as we know. So it’s been forced until now, but I think we need to forgive them a bit and let them have female representation without shouting that it’s for publicity, because then we’re imposing a double standard for women and female representation - if they don’t do it, they’re sexist, and if they do, they’re forcing it. So I’m not mad about any female led movies coming up in the mcu (unless they’re done badly).
And also, I could be wrong because I’m not a comic reader, but I’m pretty sure Jane does lift the hammer in the comics so it’s not like there’s no basis for this. They’re not pulling it out of their asses - lady thor is a real thing, i’m pretty sure, and I think it sounds cool. The problem is that replacing characters like this is a thing that happens all the time in comics, and comic readers are used to it where movie watchers are not. I think it’ll be harder to pull off this replacement in the movies because we have different expectations and attachments. But I’m willing to see where they go with it.

(Unpopular opinion)Honestly I've never liked Jane and I dont like the idea of her being in the movie. And the idea of her lifting the hammer. Too many people can lift it already. And if thor die this will be one of the biggest mistakes marvel'll do. We already lost tony, nat, loki(not so sure about that one),vision and if they kill thor too they will get a lot of hate.
