Todd Howard, executive producer at Bethesda Game Studios where he’s shepherded video games such as “Fallout 4” and “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim,” was asked during a lengthy interview why there hasn’t been a film adaptation of a Bethesda property yet.
Howard said there has been interest from Hollywood, but Bethesda has turned them all down because it is very protective of its brands and “nothing quite clicked.” If it were to greenlight a movie, it would have to be done exactly the way the company wanted it done.
Fallout is a series of post-apocalyptic role-playing video games. The series is set during the 22nd and 23rd centuries, and its atompunk retrofuturistic setting and art work are influenced by the post-war culture of 1950s America, with its combination of hope for the promises of technology and the lurking fear of nuclear annihilation.
After Fallout 4’s release in 2015 many have been yearning for the next adventure in the Wastelands to blast its way onto our screens. Sure, we've had Fallout 76 to
partially fill the void, but it doesn't quite cut the classic single-player experience. Realistically speaking, since is busy working on the long-awaited Elder Scrolls 6 and its new IP Starfield, we're likely not going to be seeing Fallout 5 for quite a while yet. Despite that, rumours continue to circulate about the next installment's existence, and given that Fallout 4 was a runaway success for the studio, it’s surely only a matter of time before Fallout 5 is officially announced.

In the early 2000, Chris Avellone wrote a script for a possible Fallout movie and I immediately pictured how awesome it would be. Keanu Reeves fits perfectly for this kind of movie. Fun fact: this script revealed that Vault Tec was responsible for the war.

Getting goosebumps watching that but I know in the pit of my stomache Bethesda will carpet bomb sh*t all over it.
I'd rather get a Fallout 5 with the epic story line of Fallout 3 or New Vegas.
Or even a cross over between them like the courier talk to the lone wanderer and be able to switch between the two characters

@The Archangel how about the fact that Fallout: New Vegas explores the darker side of humanity much further than Fallout 3 or 4. The game also felt like your choices impact the story and the world around you, in Fallout 3 no matter your choices, you will always side with the BOS, Fallout 4 story doesn't have any impact on the world around you, it's either institute or BOS, and even then it doesn't affect the world. Fnv would have let you continue playing after the main quest but couldn't due to unfair time restraints set by Bethesda. Plus Fallout 4's story is just the same as fallout 3, just role reversed
Charlie Chaplins speeches from that movie always make me cry...10/10 for this, i truly hope they make a movie, but with that true Fallout humor....this was too serious, but good.

I think they absolutely will do this. They have proven time and time and time again that they can't produce a decent fallout video game, so a movie is probably the last chance they have of milking more money out of the great IP they they bought and destroyed.
I mean don't get me wrong, they are great at making skyrim with guns. The fallout branded games they have made are pretty fun, but they are fallout only in name and setting. As far as story and lore, they aren't even close to fallout games. Maybe they will do better with a movie.

I think fallout should be a tv serious set before the bombs fell. It'll expand the lore of each moment that "we" as the player experienced through the games. It'll show areas that and concepts that we were familiar to.
