It looks like no matter how popular you are and how much money you've earned you may still feel lonely and just like in beginning when TY get out of the car showing she's complete and happy. Even inside the home/hotel she's not comfortable anymore because haters wants to crush her and bring her down and for that she dont know who to trust anymore and that is why she decided to run away and leave everything behind because of how her life is a cycle so she did something new.
It is just my opinion, I can't help but to think that the mv speaks how she felt this years and how badly she wants to do something new to get out of her cycle of life.
I respect Taeyeon and her music it was very gorgeous and amusing.

I think the ending shows that despite her thinking shes free and running into the distance at the beach she is shown on a black and white screen on tv showing the very actions she is doing to try something new. This shows that she is always being watched because she is a celebrity and can't escape and be free

its a crime for this song to be this underrated

Her most underrated title track.... in my opinion this is her best title track

this is so badass and sad at the same time. just thinking about in real life how taeyeon manages to be the celebrity that we like with all the glitters and glamour and then suffer alone when she's not on the spotlight. I really admire everything about her. Our Kim Taeyeon is a very strong woman.

I'm glad that most of the comments in here was talking about Taeyeon talents, vocal quality, the story in the MV etc, and not talking about views views and views..

I think by the looks of Taeyeon's new MV, Something New, it clearly shows a concept of total schadenfreude and misery experienced by Taeyeon from her haters, on how her depression throws her down under the bus just because she thought she wasn't good enough, but man, that MV also showcased her strengths as an artist, still striving for the passion she has for music, and also showed her independence as an individual, that the fate that she almost had to quit before has made her loved by millions of SONEs around the world. It also promoted one of the most unique colors in the K-music scene, since we rarely get these funky jazz-pop feel on music these days especially we're undergoing to an electronic/hip-hop/flashy/cutesy era. 가진 의미가 너무 크고, 저 당시 태연이 하고 싶었던 말을
담은 노래 같아서 더 와닿았었음..

this mv is giving me unusual feelings, I think she just portrayed her life like how she was famous but in the end behind those cameras and fame, the people, the media, doesnt like her and criticize her always, in a way she wants to fight back the threats and all. And she is in her way to be something new... I dont know this is just my thoughts about this mv, I like this new style she is making... I LOVE IT... Taeyeon ROCKS..

The whole mv made me left in awe. The mv has a lot of metaphors in. From the start it was all glamour thing, people think about her perfection, she smiled to keep away the sadness and pain in her eyes when she was inside the car. She wants freedom, she trynna get away with all those haters (the guard) she keep on defending herself while no one speaks the truth for her (the one guy who didn't react in the elevator) and even though alot of people supports her, they'll always be the one who will destroy her, (like what happened to the waitress who gave Taeyeon beautiful foods but in the end she trynna kill Taeyeon). but after all those thing she has been through she stays unbothered, she picked up her bags that has the negativity in her life and also money and fame which she fired up and throwed in the sea (The meaning behind that is, sge doesn't want those things in her life, she just wants FREEDOM for herself) BUT no matter how hard she tried to run away with all those things and tried to remove it in her life, she will end up being in media. 😭 This girl named Kim Taeyeon is so strong in life 😭 i hope she's doing great. this whole mv is 11/10 👏💕 this is really something new.

She prepare and masked herself every time she will face the crowd and that someone that is trying to kill her is like depression, whenever she is alone it attacks her. But the thing is she prepared for it and she fights back. Those extra baggage she threw them away to run back, not to run away but run back to us.. Her SONE.

She said this album ift for us SONE, specially for Korean SONE, who won't meet her until she wraps up the promotions in Japan, and I think the video is her showing us how she feels, how she deals with the hate, facing it every moment and having to keep moving forward, but still showing us a good face and mood, and the good side of life trough SNS no matter what, because that's the TY she wants is to see, not the hurt, scared or angry Taeng.
I think our Taengu is so strong and brave regardless, I think she deserves the world and I really, really do think she is the best and most complete artist and performer in South Korea; and yeah, that's 100% a biased opinion.
Taengo, you are the love of my life.

She is showing us that the life of a celebrity isn't an easy life like ppl think she received hate and ppl wanted to destroy her even though she's famous and all you can see it in the mv when they wanted to "kill her" and then she's throwing money away and throwing everything away, money can't buy happiness. I'm really proud of Taeyeon she suffered a lot before getting to this point, I wish her all the best and all I want is to see her happy.

I love how Taeyeon stepped out of her comfort zone here and dived into a genre thats 'less mainstream' we get to see more facets of her which is pretty amazing and the vocoder effect was really reminiscent of the works of Imogen Heap which i really appreciated. Not a particularly summery dancing at the beach like a basic white girl kinda song, its dark, moody and angsty. She aint promoting this song on shows this time around since she's prepping for her Japanese debut, another masterpiece from Taeyeon snaps to her and her team.

Public person: the glamourous, the famous one, the beautiful one. While in private she strugles, she have her own monsters that she have to fight alone. She always win but is extremely tire, and she for once want to drown/shoot all that monsters.

I like how these m/v and song gave us a more personal touch which is rare with sm sometimes I felt like we really see transparent feelings and the way things are for taeyeon as an idol. What a masterpiece iconic 😍

It is sad and scary how much a beautiful smile like Taeyeon hides. People perceives her as if she is okay and fine. When in reality is the black and white is the sad reality. You get what I mean,it is so sad and scary. And hard to explain.
