Ok, Whenever I’m given a group project, I just go ahead and accept I’m gonna do 100% of the work because I’m smart. But yah, for some reason people don’t accept that and let me do everything, and split up the work evenly, so that instead of just getting an automatic A at the small price of my sanity, they divide up the work, all do a sh*tty job, so I have to do it anyway the night before it’s due!

A good way to avoid this if your in high school: DURING your first class together, split the tasks into like, 10 portions. Have each person do one or two individually, and you can have someone go through at the end to make sure it is a cohesive presentation.
You talk about what the project is, what you want to focus on, what is the most important topics to research, and write this all down. Have each person choose what they are willing to commit to. Set the due date a few days earlier so the last person can go behind with some input from the group to make all of the things make sense together.
Or, in the worst case, make the due date earlier so that the smarter kids can do all the work that the slacker didn’t do and write their name off the project.
It gives everyone the opportunity to commit to what they want, some time to work independently, some time for cooperation, some time for if everyone else drops the ball, and time for the terrible perfectionists to go back and change all your hard work. Win win win scenario right there.

So yeah, this didn't happen to me but it happened to my classmate. (thanks of u read this comment)
My classmate, let's call him Ron, is in a theater club. He is supposed to be exempted from PE class so he can practice and all that stuff. The issue is his teacher, let's call her Ms. Snoozvil, always thinks he is cutting classes. He explains that he is part of the Theater Club and shows his slip of paper that explains everything but she is like "You missed almost all of my classes and your late for this one. I won't consider you present for this class because you didn't wear your uniform. Go to your seat."
So now Ron is pissed but then he decided to use his acting skills. So he cried. Loud.
Ms. Snoozevil then asked "Is he actually crying?"
His classmates were like yes and Ron actually is crying. (acting skills to good use)
Ms. Snoozevil asks why the hey he is crying and he said "This is the worst day ever. I lost my ring that my mom gave me when I was young and I tried to find it with my friend. We searched the whole school and couldn't find it at all! Now my mom is gonna be disappointed in me in not only my grade but also the fact that I lost something precious to the family."
After hearing this Ms. Snoozevil was like... "Okay, give me your class number. I can change some things."
"Thank you." Ron said still crying.
But in reality Ron did actually loose his ring but it's just a little thing him and his friend thought was cool and decided to buy it. Another note, he cried but did improv the whole time. He was like 'Wait... quick think of a reason why you're crying!'. Then half the whole classroom was almost gonna laugh because they all know that he made the story up and he was making gestures behind her back saying 'YOU GUYS BETTER SHUT UP!'
So moral of the story.... Acting is amazing.

Group Projects are the worst! Everyone is dead weight to everyone else because everyone has their own vision of what they want to do for the project.

At school, we where having a Socratic seminar and my whole group ignored everything I did so during the actual presentation when it was my turn to speak I said, “ my group treated me like crap and ignored me and didn’t inform me on anything so I can’t speak.”

Being ignored hurts so much, in my school they secretly hate me and they always said that "oh sorry we are already done at the project" and me the "idiot" just going to sit done in the corner and talk to my self, good thing bullies didn't bullied me but they always stole my lunch

My parents say I'm lazy, but here's the thing. I work really hard in school and I am only lazy at home cause I have so much homework and projects and school stuff to do.

Once in school we had to make a board game. On paper... I was in a group with 3 other people and everyone in the group didn't like me because I actually did work. I had all these Ideas that would be really helpful but the other people went with their own ideas and acted like I wasn't even in the group. In the end the board game was absolutely terrible. Also I stayed behind to tell the teacher why the game was so terrible and they told me to wait in the other room.
They forgot about me for almost half an hour before I came out and asked if I could just go.

I always get paired with people who don't do their work, so I always come prepared with a complete version of the project in case the other people in my group did nothing

We had to do this group project on bugs during biology and I was very afraid because I have no friends. But the person I had to work with had a dentist appointment and that was the best day of my life. I just did everything myself said they helped so they got a good grade too and got an A. Best presentation of my life

STEM class. We had to work with partners on a gearbox so I chose a random person. I told him I was going to gather some items and told him to do the same. Once I'm done I come back with my hands full of parts. He is in the exact same position. So I brush it off and start working on the gearbox, while he was supposedly to be working on the frame for it. I look up to grasp one of the parts and he is sitting there shooting invisible zombies with a gun he had made. I told him to get his act together and start working. Once I'm done I check on him again. He made some improvements. To his gun. I told him that if he didn't start working that I would finish it and he would get a zero. The class ends and we take the gearboxes home to work on them. Tomorrow, I check to see what he did. NOTHING. I had given him parts to work on the frame and all he did was steal them! I couldn't get the teacher so I just worked on the whole thing myself. Next day I had everything done, the frame and gearbox working. We were testing our designs then, so MY PARTNER COMES OVER AND ASKS TO BE THE ONE TO PRESENT IT. So I tell him "no way you didn't do anything" and so he's all like "MR.#### HE WONT LET ME TEST THE DESIGN!". So I got super angry and told the teacher that he did absolutely nothing and had stolen those parts. Mr.#### says "you should have told him to work on it. It's your fault he did nothing". So I was SuPeR ANgRy at this the teacher and he wouldn't do anything! I told him that I had in fact tried to get my partner to work and he doesn't care! He gave me a zero on the prodgect for arguing with him! I eventually got my parents involved and so I eventually got a score of 92 while my partner got a zero and detention. Worked out in the end.

So we had this lap run ( 24 minutes of hell) and ugghhh I want to go on a huge rant but only part of it fits with the video so…
We had to run as many huge laps ( over 1/4 of a mile) as we could in 24 minutes. Now I was born with both my legs slightly twisted incorrectly so running hurts a lot. And I have a butt ton of sugar at lunch ( which wasn't sitting well in my stomach. I lost my voice early that day, and I banged my head on a bunch of stuff. Now my p.e teacher (I like to call her Mrs.Butt) said that if we didn't try our hardest or walked a lot more than we ran we'd get a 1.
And I ran about half the time, even though I was in so much pain. But Mrs.Butt over there had the nerve to yell "You aren't trying your best" TWICE! At me only! And it was my first major running thing since I got back to P.E. after having surgery. And so I got a 1. For "not trying my best"
But I wasn't the same only one screwed over. My friend had a huge rope burn that was swelling on her leg and Mrs.Butt says she can speed wall it, and so she does. About half way through one of her friends gets huge cramps so she helps her friend to not be in pain by herself.
Mrs.Butt thought they were talking so she basically cheated my friend out of a lap and made her go backwards, she also got a one. To let my anger out she let me rip up her makeup form.
Of course that isn't everything. But for coming all the way down here have a cookie 🍪

There’s always the type of people in group projects that don’t let anyone else do the work and then later complain to the teacher that no one was helping them

This vaguely relates to me (I saw this video like, 3 yrs ago and I’m rewatching it). BUT, literally this school year I had a project on evolution. O did it with my friends and I didn’t have much to do. I was assigned assigning people things... and a job that overlapped with other stuff and couldn’t really do much. Now, to be fair, I did a terrible job of pulling my weight on what I was assigned to do because I had a lot of other work since I had been absent for 2 months, but it worked out for us.

Once I had a group project in a Principals Of Agriculture class and my 2 friends in the group( actually they were my group) didn’t do anything and I asked them to do something and they were just playing games, so me being a kind person, I did the whole project and I made them present.Btw hi, love your videos.

This reminds me of a classmate that didn’t want my help on a group project and asked me why I didn’t help.

Hah, I remember when I was ignored in a group project. And then like after a few weeks they’d just shove everything onto me. What did they do in that time that I was ignored? NOTHING. So yea, I end up doing everything by myself. So in the credits I put this:
Idea: Me
Research: Me
Writing: Me
Editing: Me
Moral support: nobody
Ignoring and complaining: everyone else
The teacher called us after class where I explained everything. The others denied it but i had an Ace up my sleeve. Showing the text group of the project. Showing that I was ignored when wanting to help and ignored when asking for help. Oh and that they kept complaining about that this or that wasn’t good. They admitted to it and I got a good grade while they didn’t. Victory is sweet.

Literally everytime I'm in a group project they either do that and even when I make my own slides they end up deleting them and then making their own slide that had everything I said on it. Or they just do nothing and I'm forced to do all of the work by myself

Same, one time i had to work with my class mates and the question was so easy i figured it out in around 2 minutes. But they said(i will be using emojis to give them personalities)😒🤓we have to work together. me😑but i figu... nope. So they spent the rest of the time but still got it wrong. But who got it right me. Now you might think that might be the end of it but noooo. I face palmed my self and my teacher told me that I needed to go outside. (This is the only dumb thing that i'll do in this story) on Google classroom I posted no one listens to me. All right all right that was pretty dumb but I didn't really think this through. However there were a million things that I could have done best was being I could just go up to my teacher and say that no one listens to me. Then she calls me to her desk and tells me that I used the site wrong and that she was going to mute me. But I still tell her that no one listens to me. But she says something so childish and dumb that it puts my thing that i posted to shame. But this comment is too long

Sometimes in a group project I usually hope no one chooses me so the teacher might let me work alone.

This happens to me every time I’m in a group of people who I’m not friends with I now have trained myself how to forcefully add input and sometimes I end up taking the lead

I had this one teacher in seventh grade, and if she gave you a group project, and she heard ONE thing from you that wasn’t about the project, she’d immediately tell you or the people who were on task, to do your/their own project.
For the first half of class me and the people in my group talked about a few topics we were interested in doing, and what websites we could use. Suddenly, one of our group members disappeared, since there was only three of us total, and it was a big project, we went to go look for her. We found her working on her own, in the corner of the classroom. When we asked why she was there, she said she wasn’t allowed to work with us, because we weren’t doing our work. She had no say in what she was told to do, the teacher just told her to work on her own, and she would get extra credit.
We all went to the teacher and explained that we were doing our work, and showed her what websites we had, and our topic idea. She looked disappointed that we proved we were doing work, but she still let us get back in a group to finish our project.
When we were done with the presentation, our teacher looked at all of us, and told us ONLY the one girl from before, was getting extra credit. We all had done the work. Since she was the only one with PowerPoint, the guy (that was also in our group) and I had done the research and paragraphs, emailing them to her for her to copy and paste to make the power point. She had made the whole thing from scratch, found pictures, and even fixed some of our grammar mistakes! So she definitely did work, but so did the guy and I! The teacher explained that she knew the girl had done the WHOLE power point, and we were all just trying to boost our grade from her work.
Even the girl stuck up for us! Saying she created the power point, but the guy and I both did all the research and wrote out the paragraphs. We both ended up with a C, while the girl got a A. She didn’t rub it in, instead she offered to do our homework for a few nights to make up for it, Since she can’t exactly refuse a grade. We both said “thanks, but you don’t have to.” The teacher ended up out for the rest of the year due to surgery, and would you know what? My group project grades sky rocketed because I wasn’t blamed for not doing my work when I clearly did.

So, it seems like "laziness" is usually actually a result of executive dysfunction, often due to such struggles as depression, ADHD, autism, and all sorts of other difficulties.

Ohhh. This happened to me in college. I would try to do stuff and it would either be erased, not reconized, or told it was not something I should take that much time on. Like. I was making digital stencils for the project, and that takes time to do right if you wanna get them lasor cut, and everyone including the teacher was convinced that I could do that in 20 minutes and needed to go help do painting things. I did get a rep for being LazyTM in collehe cuz my art wasn't the most finished. But legit, I had to work on 4 projects all due in two weeks and people really hated photoshop paintings in that class. I cannot keep up with that work load.

My teachers always gives us projects with only enough stuff for like 3 people but assign 5 people per group so rather than having the lazy person, we have a problem with just not enough work that can be shared. I had a class where we needed to program a robot and have a presentation with a write up (a 2-3 person thing). I did the programming and someone else set up the presentation, and 1 person did the write up, but there were 2 people floating around without a job. we just made up titles for them so it sounded like they were doing something.

I got the same project in grade 6, it was great, I was (I think) groupless the entire time, and there was a lot of counterfeits... We found who was distributing them.

I know exactly what that's like. Group projects were so horrible because nobody wanted to have anything to do with me. I was basically the only one who wanted to *actually* work (with my full effort, I mean, and not half-assing my way through), but they didn't let me. I was fortunate that my grades never suffered from it, though, because even when I complained that they didn't let me work, they never tried to say that I refused, they just denied it and the teacher graded us all equally because it was just a case of "she-said, they-said". *Shrug.* Still hated group projects, though.

When I was in 8th grade, there was a group thing we had to do in groups of 3. Me and 2 of my friends were in a group, and we had to build a tower out of toothpicks and glue or something. I tried to help, but my friends were so overprotective and were like "STOP IT! YOU'RE GONNA MAKE IT UNSTABLE!". So they basically built the whole thing and kept complaining that I wasn't doing any work. I kept telling them that they weren't letting me help, but they didn't care. They were so stupid that they actually went and told the teacher I wasn't doing contributing, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS THEIR FAULT. The teacher comes and I tell her every time I tried to help or make a suggestion, my friends denied me and thought I was slacking. She made them apoligize and I felt pretty good hearing them apoligize. Also by the way it was just an activity and didn't count toward our grade because we were on a field trip sooo yeah...

When I had to do a group project before, I basically just studied our topic as everyone else in my group was just talking amongst themselves. I was only spoken to once or twice, for no good reason.

One time I was put in a group for a short project that had two other people besides myself, and of course it was the two students who were notorious for slacking off and just talking the whole time. I ended up doing the whole thing, and one of them actually ended up apologizing for not doing any work. Her excuse was that she knew I was on a roll and didn't want to mess anything up, so I smiled and said "yeah, don't worry about it, that's about what I expected", but on the inside.... I was livid. She basically told me she intentionally left me to my own devices to finish the whole project by myself

One time during class we had to cook banana bread, we were all in groups of 4. One kid divided the work equally, so he was first, and we were fine with it. But then, when it was someone else’s turn, he did it instead. And when we told him it was our turn, he just ignored us. The next class, we saw the results, and we realized he has no idea how to make food. It was supposed to be a solid tan brown and it turned out green. I don’t even know how we used zero green ingredients. And when the teacher saw is, he said that he had to do all the work because we were too lazy!

I was falsely accused of being lazy once in a project. I was the 4th grade and we had to pick a climate and make something around it. And they wouldn’t give me work to do. They even told the teacher that I didn’t do anything and my only response was “they never gave me anything”

I'm actually kinda lazy, but when it comes to group projects I am almost always the person doing most of the work. I have had the same situation where I ask people whether they want to meet to do the project and I get NADA. AND THEY DID NOTHING! I end up doing almost everything, get a worse score cuz my group members don't know ANYTHING and did NOTHING, and get labeled as "bossy".

Something similar happened to me one semester, where most of my partners were lazy except for the bossy girl who kept ignoring all my suggestions and questions. In conclusion, she ended up doing everything alone because she didn't let me participate, and the others didn't help her either. HOWEVER, I was the one up to defend the projects on presentations, with little clue of what i was saying (and standing up to all the mistakes made on the work itself) because they were all too shy to speak up (pssh...cowards)
At least she still put my name, after telling me she didn't like me as a person (without reason, she just... didn't). I sincerely asked her if she wanted to turn it in on her own, since i didn't actually do much, but i didn't have time to deal with her bs of ignoring me and shutting herself out.
Things turned out well, still was very stressful
