I completely agree to this. I had a toxic school life for ten fucking years with snobbish, arrogant, condescending bullies and just plain bad people who did drugs, alcohol and smoked since grade 7. And none of that influenced me in any way. And soon after i left that place cutting all ties with people like that. So if i can then so can you.

The only time when peer pressure is acceptable is when you’re pressuring them into something good.

I think one of the reasons people pressure you to do illicit things with them is that it makes you complicit. They will know for sure that you won’t rat, and it forms this weird bond because now you have a secret that you share.

I think we should choose friend wisely, because if the person who forces you to do something you don't want to do is called a "friend"? It is your life and it is your choice, but wrong choice can lead you into wrong paths and you may regret it

Interesting, I had the opposite experience. My friends always wanted me to come with them to parties because they knew I didn’t mind being the designated driver. Also have you ever been to a party where everyone’s drinking but you and your the only one that’s sober enough to remember (sometimes record) there dumb actions. It’s way more fun to remember after the party ends.

I remember my teacher (from like forever ago) literally making us watch this in class to learn about peer pressure and I think about that a lot because I was currently watching you.

I hate it when people just assume I am pressuring my friends to do stuff even when they pessure me into it.

I remember when I was 13 at a 4th of July party one of my friends tried peer pressuring me into smoking a cigarette. Another time, I was 18, and someone injected themselves (yes, heroin) and tried pressuring me into it. I called the authorities and they still wouldn't stop bothering me about it. I own up to dislocating their elbow and still feel really guilty about it..

I have peer pressured to vandalise my school bathroom, skip school and smoke, I didn’t do any of that but it still sucks and luckily the people who tried to pressure me got expelled after they were caught smoking last year

One of my teachers in 4 grade was teaching us about peer pressure and when adam said " It pissis me of" she freak out turning of the video.

1-Good peer pressure is peer pressuring someone into NOT killing themselves.
2-Unimportant peer pressuring is peer pressuring someone into a good opportunity such as a new roller coaster ride or something.
3-Annoying peer pressure is just peer pressuring someone into something not dangerous but just annoying such as eating sour food but they don't like sour food.
4-Bad and unwanted peer pressure is peer pressing someone into doing something illegal such as certain substances or crimes.

This made me think. My friends have been peer pressuring me to drink alcohol for quite some time now. I wanted to be good friend, so I decided to drink ciders in our meetings at least. I have told them, I have no real interest in drinking but I can drink few ciders. This however never seems to enough, they always want me to drink more.
Last meeting my friend poured me a glass of wine without asking me. I tried to refuse but he made all kind excuses to make feel bad if I did not drink. It's not the first time he did this. I am getting really tired and frustrated because of this. I feel like I am finally starting to hit the limit. He is dear friend of me but shit has to stop.

Honestly, same. I hate it so much. Even tho I've done some of the illegal stuff mentioned in the video, I've never pressured someone into doing them, and I hate it when they do it to me.

I get this at theme parks and stuff. Apparently, it’s illegal for me to not want to do this one ride, so I guess I’ll just sit here and get yelled at by my brother who can’t seem to accept the fact I don’t want to do every damn ride I see.

just remember you do have the right to say no to the things you don't like. It's ok your friends don't like you, just find other friends that will not force you to do the things you don't like.
I have met a lot of situation where I was forced to do the things I don't like.

I was kinda pressured by my friends, mom, and teacher because I asked them if I should do singing lessons with our/my choir teacher and EVERYONE said yes and that I should do it and my choir teacher had complimented my voice SO MUCH that I kinda didn’t have a choice especially since when I asked my mom she said “I really think you should do it I know it’s out of your comfort zone but this is a good way to get out of your comfort zone” something like that lol (it’s 7AM I went to bed at 12:30AM and I just woke up) but yeah everyone I asked said I should do it over and over and they were never rude about it, it was just a lot of pressure and I’ve only done them once so far but I already don’t like them because the Choir teacher goes “louder, louder I can’t hear you sing louder” I don’t sing for my family, random people, or teachers. I sing for 4 of my friends. That’s it because I am shy AS FRICK and HATE the idea of anyone, other than 4 of my friends, hearing me sing 😅 (at least it wasn’t bad just annoying and that’s why I put kinda because it was pressure but not in a bad way it just kinda...PFFTT he got cut off twice XDXD

I got pressured by my neighbors to give up like half my toys to them when I was a kid. Even some that I really really loved, and it’s been hard to forgive them. That’s why I don’t like to talk to them anymore. At all.

Late to the party, but in case anyone struggling with peer pressure sees this: the only people that shame you into doing things you feel are wrong are people who also know it's wrong and feel insecure about it. They are seeking their own validation from making you also succumb to it. It might not seem like it, but it's true.
My freshman year of college I went about twice a week to frat house parties, but didn't drink. The upperclassmen thought that was smart and appreciated having more sober people around and encouraged me. You know who shamed me? OTHER FRESHMEN. The most insecure freshmen, or the ones trying to get in my pants.
I'm glad this vid was made to reinforce how dumb peer pressure is. Things always get better, make smart decisions kiddos and you won't regret it.
