I was i dont know like 7 or something annyway my sister had a friend and she LOVED pewdiepie like really it was the only thing she talked about so she would always show my sister videos of him playing prop hunt or some horror game or something i think it was a complication of funny moments but at the time i just couldnt understand what he was saying (because i live in europe so my main language isnt english btw sorry about all the grammar mistakes) but i did remeber that he was screaming and cursing all the time while the adio was turned way up and my mom was like: WHAT ARE YOU WATCHING YOU SHOULDNT BE WATCHING THAT TURN IT OFF!!!! so we did. but although i could not understand what he was saying i really enjoyed his facial expresion so the next time my sisters friend visited us she showed us again. I didnt really know how youtube worked by then but i still manegeted to find some videos on my own so i would watch them in the living rome (we had 4 computers at the time 2 in the living rome 1 for me and my sister and 1 for my parants 1 in my sisters room but she would not let me use it and 1 in the attic and i didnt want to go there.) so i did that for like a week but one day she asked me what i was watching and i had to explain myself and she got really angry. so thats my story... hope you liked it... My family's christian, but you don't see us giving two shites about what we watch, you name it, we watched it. With all these manipulative parents running around, telling their children something's the devil PURELY because they don't like it, I am constantly peeved off. Knowing something that may be easily age appropriate for a five year old, is being told to be the devil to a ten year old.
The ONLY two things I was kept away from as a kid (normally, not told it was the devil) were TMNT and Power Rangers.
I do believe that doing this to a child, can be emotionally degrading.
Imagine not being allowed to play Pokemon in the 90's, and then going to school to see kids with Gameboy's and cartridges of Pokemon at recess, along with others playing with the cards. At this moment you remember you can't play it with them, without going against your parents. YOU. ARE. CORNERED. THE PRESSURE AND EMOTIONS HIT YOU LIKE A BRICK WALL. You become angry at your parents, but you know you HAVE TO listen to them! Then you break down in tears, knowing there's nothing you can do...
Having known friends who'd had parents that kept them away from something as a kid was fine I may ask why, but when it's something simply stupid like the parent saying something the child's interested in but they are not, is the devil? You know damn well I'm asking why, and will hold a grudge for the remainder of the day.
The moral is, let your kid have a childhood, and apply restrictions to their interest carefully...

Edit 5 years later: i'm 18 now. i doubt the ban was because that youtuber said the words damn and hell. it was probably because my personality was changing and my fam thought the youtuber was a bad influence.

So a few months ago I was just chilling in my brother's room and I find one of the teeth that he lost in a bag. " hey Justin , I think the 'tooth fairy' didn't get ur tooth". I said . "Yeah, the tooth fairy isn't real , it's mom" He said. I don't think he caught onto my sarcasm. So he went out into the living room and showed mom the tooth "you didn't get it yet" He said. " well you didn't tell me". Mom said. So then we started a joke about why the tooth fairy needs the teeth. I spoke Aaaaannndddddd. ... something else came out. And this is what I said. .. "well I think she needs them ad replacements cause all she probably eats is shit". Awkward silent moment then I realize what I said... "Woah Woah Woah! what did you say???!!!" Mom said. Legit everyone was looking at me . " I met to say sugar!!!! I swear!!!!" I actually did mean to say sugar. Everyone started talking about it and I felt a bit embarrassed. Eric (my step dad ) comes out from the kitchen and asks what I said again. Mom tells him "Oh that's not THAT much of a swear word!" He says. Mom nearly threw a book at him and whispered to me "just don't say it too often" . The next day I telly friends and they're all like " DUDE! MY PARENTS WOULD'VE KILLED ME!!! "

Lmao when you said people would sneak-watch Family Guy. My dad watches adult swim all the time, including when I was very little. So 5-year-old me would sometimes stroll into my parents' bedroom and watch it with him. We would watch Family Guy and Robot Chicken and stuff like that. He figured that if I was exposed to that stuff at an early age, then they wouldn't have to bother hiding it and I wouldn't be very sheltered or clueless growing up.

I can kinda relate to this video in the fact that I watched Egoraptor as a kid and got in a bit of trouble when my parents heard what Arin would say, however I can say that as a kid I knew better than to cuss in front of my parents. I can't see myself doing that at any point in my life.
