I was born in 1983. I have been a huge Ghostbusters fan my entire life, with the first film being my absolute favourite. When Ghostbusters 2 was released in 1989, I was so excited to go and see it, so my dad took me to see it in the theater in January of 1990 for my seventh birthday.
Up until that time, I was used to The Real Ghostbusters children's cartoon, as well as the first film in it's "censored for TV" form. I watched it on a 14" CRT TV that had a dial to tune into 13 different channels at the time. The experience of the first film was thus "dialed back" significantly from its original release in theaters, and as such, I was not prepared for the Cinema experience of the sequel. The bigger screen (biggest in the city at the time), coupled with the much louder audio experience, meant that when Vigo shot lightning out of his eyes, I was suddenly very, very scared, and I made my dad take me out of the movie halfway through.
I'm 38 now and this film gets released in 2021. I invite my father out to come and watch it with me. I told him that I have a debt to repay 31 years in the making. This time, we both watch the full thing, straight through. And we both agreed, this film is a fantastic third entry into the Ghostbusters franchise.
I love you, Dad.
I was born in 1983 too and turning 38 this year. Same like you, I watched all the older movies and cartoons when I was a kid. Too bad i can't afford the ghostbusters toys back then. I watched this movie today, it really brought back the memories. Hearing Ecto 1 Siren in the movie gave me goosebumps. The script was well written, the cast was good especially the kids and the movie storyline was good too.
I was born in '86. My dad also loves these films so I invited him to this one. No regrets. It was fantastic!
😂 your post just made my day, that's awesome 👌

It's not just the Ecto 1 from the movies . . . IT'S THE ECTO 1 FROM THE TOY LINE!
LMAO
Leo Nielson wow a fan girl kewl
Well technically the cartoon, which itself was taking the continuity of the movie. There was in fact an episode which directly referenced the movie, their old 'brown' uniforms were covered in ectoplasm and made ghost doppelganger versions of the ghostbusters they subsequently had to destroy thus prompting them to get their cartoon versions of their boiler suits.
It might sounds crazy, but the concept of the gunner seat was actually going to be part of the first movie, but was cut down due to budget (at least thats what i read a couple of years ago) and then it was taken by the cartoon.
THANOS
You think "Leo" is the little girl in the picture?
That is why they called the cartoon The *Real* Ghostbusters.
This was an excellent sequel - perfect mix of nostalgia, humor and action. I loved how they included the original actors so seamlessly and the homage to Harold was extremely respectful. Unless the movie takes place in 2046
I just watched the movie.
I am 41 years old & grew up watching both of the original Ghostbusters films on HBO. I loved them & laughed as a kid, & even moreso when I became an adult & stayed to get some of the jokes that had previously gone over my head. I wouldn't call myself a super fan or anything, but I do remember riding my bike through my neighborhood at age eight pretending to chase ghosts with my pack & trap.
Afterlife was hands-down, in my opinion, the best movie I could have hoped for. I loved the story, the explanation of why things happened the way they did with the ghosts in NY in the 80s. And the jokes were funny! I laughed out loud way more than I could've expected. Excellent script.
The performances were all believable & earnest in the best ways, from both the adults & the younger actors. And the, I'll say, older actors.
And the VFX! The colors & particle effects were mesmerizing, so beautiful! Especially around the climax in the final act, I couldn't have asked for better!
I want to be careful not to spoil anything in a trailer video, so I'll just say there was an emotional element that was done as tastefully & respectfully as could ever be done.
I believe this movie was truly the best it could have been. & I'm SO glad Jason, the crew. & the cast clearly made this movie with care & love. I could watch much more of these new characters in the future, especially Phoebe.
I wasn't sure where to post my opinion, so I figured why not the official trailer? Where many recent decades-long-awaited sequels & reboots so often disappoint, I am so delighted to have been, well, delighted by Ghostbusters Afterlife. Coming from at least this long-time fan, I absolutely loved it. Easily one of my favorite movies of 2021.
Thanks for writing this! I wasn’t sure if I wanted to watch it but now I’m definitely going to. :)
This movie sucks! Put it to your kids because if you are a grown man I don't think you going to enjoy it... I don't recommend it.

Just watched it today. It’s story was great, it’s acting was awesome, the jokes were well timed and reminiscent of the original ghost busters and the plot was original but still payed respects to the original trilogy. Most parts even made me cry, and I’m not even an OG fan. Great movie, the critics can say what they want, but 93% of the people have spoken, we want more!
93% of the people = 12 year olds

For sure, I just wrote a similar comment... You need to have watched the first version of 1984 and also Netflix´s Movies That Made Us - Ghostbusters - to understand the inside jokes --- like Bill Murray telling Harold - it´s nice for you to show up --- Harold used to say this to Bill who could never ever get to the set on time and sometimes would not show up at all... Amazing homage to the original and frankly I wish they could do an Afterlife 2 with the same cast and the song in the end... I loved it!
Brilliant movie. I watched the original as a 9 year old. Here I am now aged 44 watching it and it was so much fun. Full of nostalgia and a great story and plot.

I thought 2016 was Mehr but this is wanna see where they go with it but if it's anything like Shane blacks the predator I'm on my way to hell
Now this is a good Ghostbusters movie. The end credits were the best because they used the original theme of Ghostbusters and I love how they acted like the 2016 movie didn't exist. Literal masterpiece.
We'll just pretend Ghostbusters 3 movie never happened, and THIS is Ghostbusters 3.
Let's pretend that there was just One Ghostbusters movie. The 1984 film. Cause That's the only good one
If that's Egon's family home, there'd better be a straightened slinky in there somewhere...
This wins the internet today!
If there's a straightened slinky in there, I'm going to cry.
Yes!!!😂
What about mold, spores and fungus?
@@adwade12 I think we saw them! All the Petri dishes on the table.
It's kinda weird seeing things I recognize because I used to live there and go to that school. This was filmed in Crossfield Alberta Canada btw
Finally watched this movie. Grew up with the real ghostbusters and watched the 1984 movie at least 30 times. This is how the sequel should be. So much nostalgia. I loved all the easter eggs that they put in. When all 4 OG ghostbusters were shot, i felt like I was 10 years old again. Yes, the plot was not a radical departue from the first movie, but there were enough new elements to keep the movie moving along at a good pace. I look forward to more of these and i hope my kids will enjoy this series as much as I did

Do you think my 3 and 4 year old will be able to sit through it?
@@Boudicaisback umm.. The first 40 minutes are a little slow. After that..., I just can't ruin it for you.
Just got back from watching the IMAX version a few minutes ago. Absolutely nostalgic to the first, but for good reason, as there's unfinished business. I have to say, if each of the movies has a slight focus on one character, such as the first being Peter Venkman, the second being Ray Stantz, this is definitely the Egon. Hopefully (and a strong hint there is and that it could go in that direction) the fourth lets Winston Zeddemore stand out
Completely agree! As the end credit scene hinted that
Is it okay for a 4 year old to watch?
@@Boudicaisback the movie does say it’s 7+ and I kind of agree to that as it has some jumpscares that may scare kids but if they’re fine with that then yeah!
@@theoddalien they love Ghostbusters 1 and 2 , they also watch The Real Ghostbusters cartoon everyday so I'm not worried about the jump scares :) thanks for the info! I thought it was rated pg13
