at least with this guy you knew he was going to steam in, he did that in every fight, fair play to him, not every fighter becomes a champion.
James Thompson is, hands down, gargantuan or colossus, i.e., 2m or 6'7", & now he is 44yo as of 2022. But he was certainly an intimidating, great & entertaining fighter in his prime time!! Best in high school baseball team, in England that is not what you call hard, only about nine Brits have ever played baseball so he was a shoo-in.

He actually had really good takedown defense.
Thompson only knew how to steam forward even when taking damage he continued to fight going forward. A true warrior but with very limited technical ability.
If he can’t beat you coming forward he’d rather die trying, no technique but a warriors heart.

I loved when he tried to intimidate Alexander Emelianenko, I thought Emelianenko was going to yawn in his face.
James Thompson was very entertaining. And he could have been a higher ranked MMA fighter with proper training. His boxing skills was not good. He had good knees and pressure. I think he had a great chin. He is very good at defending take downs. He also lacked some skills in the ground game. But over all it is the boxing skills that was the reason he was not a top contender.
I’ve watched James fight in Bristol an he sent his opponent out in a ambulance on a stretcher

Thompson is mostly remembered as a, can, with no chin, that held no notable wins against anyone that wasn't past their prime. He did come to fight, but he really wasn't that good, despite his size and strength.

HIs fight record says you are wrong, you complete and utter tool. He fought some of the biggest and best fighters of his era. He didn't always win, but you know what,... somebody walks out of the ring as a winner, and the other guy doesn't. Step up and fight, and see how it feels before you get cocky.
