I remember a TV show from 1980 called "that's incredible", and there was a guest on there that could run up to a building wall like this without the pad and reach the roof and climb over it. Very impressive.

My friend and I used to do the same thing. We called it running up the wall. When I was in the ARMY, I showed a buddy how it worked. I ran up the wall at a local Mall, at one of the entrances, and touched the ceiling. You need sneakers with a great grip, or you'll eat it hard.

It's not so much about the jump. It's about getting the right angle so that you can put the right friction to run but also be able to divert your forward momentum upwards. Speed is the key here
This is the reason why i always have my friend go do a challenge first, so i can see his result and do the best as i can to beat it. Every time each person put a post-it on the wall it motivates the next person to do better and they motivate each other by being competitive. Competition builds character and makes you even better each time you are challenged.
Except the poor little girls who don't stand a chance of winning now. Why?

Creating a scenario for children to compete against grown, male athletes doesn't provide them with an environment within which they can even learn from failure. If they were to compete with boys in the same age group that would be a big challenge but I think that would be more healthy competition. There's a difference between disappointment and utter defeat. These girls already know they can't compete with [grown] men. They've most likely already accepted this, because it's not a real benchmark. It's the elephant in the room. Knowing that, it begs the question, why? So someone can be cruel and shove it further into their faces?

@@emilioruben7001 I don't totally disagree with this and I realized that they were teachers after watching it a few more times. Adults should get to play stuff like that too. It can absolutely be inspiring to watch your mentors show you their skills but it can also be discouraging to watch someone do it too much, especially when you know they have advantages like time and years over you. There is no replacement for that. Having been a teacher at different times in my life, it is ultimately about the student. There's a certain line you walk as a teacher to make sure that enthusiasm doesn't turn into discouragement. It's the same reason you don't bolt ahead of your 5 year old -every- time they challenge you to a race. They'd feel like they could never win and eventually they wouldn't try anymore.

I work at an axe throwing hall and we have that same spirit. The coaches I work with are almost always trying to find new & harder trick throws to perform. It keeps us all wanting to do better and pushing the limits to figure out what else we can do.

The most impressive was actually the second girl that went. She was the only one who didnโt run up the wall. She just exploded off of 2 feet and got a good vertical for her age/ size.

That's what they were doing. If you watch towards the end when they get up there they will put one hand on the top of it to push themselves up higher
