classroom. To find this out, researchers funded by the SNSF asked teachers, parents and the kids who skipped school themselves.

Honestly, schools should just let you skip classes if they are too easy. Helps to reduce the school fees as well.
In the US, funding is based on attendance. Less kids at your school/going to classes, less money.

I'm currently skipping school right now. My parents wanted to know what was wrong with me, so they asked me. I told them I really hated that school and didn't have friends. They told me that transferring to my home school would be the best option (meaning dropping out of my special program). I thought sure since that program sucked anyway. We went to chat, and that teacher started talking about how he could help me in this school and avoided the topic of transferring. My parents felt bad and wanted to give them another chance as if they weren't getting paid off the number of students, and told me I was "valuable".

ever since i can remember i always pushed myself as the eldest child to do well at school. i was able to stay on top of my work although i was giving many hours to community work and extracurriculars. i never wanted to fall behind. now suddenly in year 11, i've suddenly lost the will to study... like i sit there with my assignment open try to get one word out but i cant. on the weekends i try my hardest to complete assignments but im not able to and then out of embarrassment i miss school. and i hate disappointing my parents but its honestly become so hard for me to focus on anything and Im becoming increasingly worried for next year, since its my last year of high school and my ATAR counts on my progress and grades but if im not putting in the effort im afraid im gonna be a no one
I understand how you feel, im the oldest child and was always the "smart one", untill i wasn't. it is stressful and schools go really hard on the whole ATAR thing, and so do parents sometimes, but there are other options if you do a bit of digging around, you can have a future even if you get a shit ATAR.

Skipped school here and there and at the moment I have a 3.5 gpa unweighted. I can’t pay really good attention in class but I score super well on tests and assignments.
I can’t pay attention so I just skip class get the notes from friends and just study like that

Truancy in my school is terrible right now, and our graduation rate is the lowest it's ever been. I'm not sure if this is because of covid, but I think parents are being wayyyy too lenient with their kids and just letting them stay home because they don't care enough about their education. In year and in year 10 i was so close to skiping classes because nothing was changing, i was able to learn more on my own in a shorter amount of time (because prep fro school, travel time, travel between classes, and waiting on teachers and students, plus i was ahead on most subjects was all just not fun,
But i still whent because there was always a chance i would learn something new... It wasn't bug enough to justify me being there, andin year 10 it got better, year 11 was mostly fine,
But looking back on it im kinda suprised i didn't skip any classes,
Oh right, i skiped maths in the afternoon because we were on the hot stuffy depresing top flor wich made getting out hard, the teacher was often slow and it just was always crap,

to every single person out there: if you hate the "school" part of school and having to sit in a room for 7 hours a day 5 days a week, or only go to school to see your friends, or only go to school because its "the standard", even all of those things i just mentioned or even if you just hate school in general. PLEASE. CONSIDER ONLINE SCHOOL. you learn 5x faster, you can get up, move around, and learn, ALL AT THE SAME TIME, and also you have MUCH SHORTER HOURS WITH COMPLETE FLEXIBILITY!! have adhd and dont think you will do your work, theres tutors, therapists, that all give you tips on how to do these things! and also i would like to mention IT IS SO MUCH EASIER TO BALANCE YOUR LIFE! please. just think if public school is truly right for you.

Rn in Highschool in Romania. I plan on going into medicine, as a majority of the other teens in the same Specialization in this school. 70% of classes are irelevant and now im 12th grade (final year of highschool) teachers literally do nothing for most classes because they realize we just dont care about them.

It's my first day back at school after the holidays and the teacher wanted to 'help' me feel more open at school by switching all of my classes to match one of my friends. Which means new teachers for all subjects and new students. I'm so scared by the thought of having to learn new teachers names and the judgment of the new students as to why I suddenly moved to their class is too much for me and I'm going to skip class.

Mobbing kann aber auch ein Grund sein, weshalb man sich selbst davon abhält, die Schule zu schwänzen - vor allem, wenn man eigentlich gute bis sehr gute Noten schreibt. Wenn die Mitschüler mitbekommen, dass man nicht einfach nur krank ist, sondern wegen Schwänzens wiederholt fehlt, kann dies als Grundlage für weitere Provokationen und Mobbing dienen. Zumindest ist das ein Gedankengang, den ich während meiner Schulzeit immer wieder hatte.

Darth Obscurity have you seen the Thai Education System and Schools? It’s a joke as nearly every student needs to tutor 5 hours a week in order to pass. Only international schools are good here.
Honestly from what I've seen, private/profit schools aren't any worse than the public schools I went to, in fact, many of them are much better (better staff, better education oppertunities, etc.)
It just depends on which school I guess, because I'm sure not every private school is like all the ones I've seen but the data tends to show that they are, in many places, able to provide much better outcomes for students than a huge amount of public schools.
I will stress again, it depends on the school itself, to some extent.
