HUGE red flag.
It is a huge red flag . But I think it would be more of a red flag if they were there for a serious Illness. You must try to understand from the doctors standpoint that he is standing in a room full of young people joking and laughing and not taking their own situation seriously. They never asked questions about how to use the medicine , how long it should take to improve, what to do if it does not- so many things. Coming from a physician myself , when someone is in my office or even the ER and you see them laughing and taking nothing seriously, they are obviously not seriously ill, are causing noise most likely that may upset other patients, and so he is trying to say he knows they are fidgety and is trying to help them and get them going bc they are obviously hyper and cutting up. It’s not good for business or for the overall appearance of the workplace. I’ve had doctors in the emergency room say “let’s get these tests running and if all is normal, we can get you out of here hopefully ASAP so you can rest bc I know no one likes the ER. Not a red flag at all. That was at one of the top hospitals in the medical Mecca of houston texas. Not trying tp be rude or come at you, just wanted to let you know I’ve said it also to patients bc they are waiting, miserable, sometimes have a screaming toddler, sometimes have a doctor/hospital phobia or anxiety about it, and I want them to know I’m going to do things as efficiently (not as fast, necessarily) as possible so we can find out what’s wrong and get them the correct meds and let them be on their way and not sit in the ER all night . Make sense? Again not trying to jump at you or be rude, it just depends on what context that statement is used. If a doc came in and a woman was there with her husband who had a heart attack, I’m not going to say “let’s get you up to the cath lab and get that stent placed so I can get you out of here really quickly”- BIG red flag. But ringworm on ppl acting like 16 year olds in a dr office is a totally different situation. He probably has worked all day and is tired and is like why did she not go to a normal doctor during the day? This is the kind of stuff that clogs up urgent cares and emergency rooms. It is not urgent or an emergency. Tana just doesn’t want to get up before 9 PM so why not use an after hours medical facility that is there for urgent matters and emergencies. He is trying to get them out bc this type of situation is what makes us all have to wait for forever in the urgent cares and ER. Hopefully that maybe helped a bit.

@@sarahsweeney837 what I find a red flag is the healthcare providers are the ones that need to do educating to patients. Partly why the patient (honestly I dont watch tana so I dont know his name lol) but partly why hes confused about getting the injection is because the doctor never told him what he was getting it for and why it could help. He left it up to the PA to do, and the PA didnt go into the dicussion on why he's getting it and what it could help in his case for. The patietnt said "can I jsut get a Z pack and be done with it" and the doctor failed to mention that an antibiotic will not do anything for a viral cold. Z pack which is arythromycin wont help anything but bacteria - a bacterial infection. When a doctor gets defensive about his title is a also a red flag. I can see huge miscommunications going on here.
He also prescribed him a steroid injection dexamethasone which could help in the case of a cold if theres inflammation i nthe respiratory tract because it calms down inflammation in the body with a cold. But the PA never goes into why and the doctor also never goes into why hes getting it. Huge communication disconnections here. I see why its lowly rated. Patients shouldnt be confused about what theyre getting and doctors shouldnt be getting disgruntled if theyre questioned on their medical knowledge.
But people who are like oh why would he be getting a injection that treats lupus or something? its because these steroid medications do the same thing - calm down the immune reaction of inflammation which we see in cases like lupus and spinal cord injuries too.
But I dont understand why he wouldnt just give him a by mouth pill form steroid instead of the injection form.

Katie Lou the steriods are just for Lupus. Steroids reduce swelling (inflammation). The doctor thought he was having a flare up of seasonal allergies. When allergies get bad you can use steroids to help the swelling in both the sinuses and the respiratory track to reduce coughing and help the patient get better air.
That is also why he wanted to give him an anti inflammatory injection. I don’t know what the second injection was but I’m guessing an allergy medication like Benedryl.
I think the doctor knew you guys were joking around and stuff and could tell you guys were not VERY ill so he cut up with you. Mario was rude to him for not listening to his suggestions and the doctor was rude back. 🤷🏻♀️
He was clearly playing about not wanting to do the paperwork if he died there. Real people die there. SICK people. Mario was wasting his time. He should have saw a family doctor or sucked it up. If it was serious enough to go there in the middle of the night for help than I agree with the prescription and the diagnosis. Allergies can be a bitch. There is nothing he could do for a damn cold if that were the problem so he looked at it from another angle- maybe it’s seasonal allergies these meds might help.

As a medical student that has done plenty of residence, I get know from first hand experience that a huge amount of people go late at night to the emergency room without any real problem (mostly addicts to opiods or people who want a day off work). What is worst, they seem to like arguing with doctors and residents about the treament (mostly because something they read on google or some member of their family told them). I do not agree with the way this doctor in particular acted, but I know that sometimes it can be very infuriating and stressfull how people can joke and try to waste as much time as they can when other patients are in bad condition. Dude, but changing sheets and pillows does help to get rid of sicknesses. A steroid shot helps to suppress a cough and a cold. The Athletes foot cream she was prescribed actually does help with ringworm because ringworm is a fungus. A lot of his advice and prescriptions were correct. Some people just don’t really know. But this is a good video 😂.
