Lions vs Buffalo; Tanzania Safari highlights

What a smart bull. He knew death was eminent and his adrenaline started pumping. Survival instincts kicked in...he looked around..he counted his enemies. They are more than 10. He decided not to run away like a coward but to use the brush to cover his ass. He was alert every second to prevent sudden attack. But he didn't stop there. He realized the Male lion was the the strongest among them hence he kept an eye on him. In the end the bull is teaching us a powerful lesson. Don't be afraid, be prepared to fight for your survival, stand still, and face your enemies head on.

Absolute smart, strong buffalo. The key of winning for the buffalo is that this guy knows to take the back tree as shield for his vulnerable side (back side), and stick to it until final victory; otherwise, he will be 100% killed by predators. King of the buffalo armed with wisdom and muscle, a real hero.

He knows he needs to stand still to reserve his energy. The moment he runs, it's over for him.

I love this video, its full of great expectations. The 10+ lions seems to use a lot of calculations on how to bring down a Single buffalo. This is life lesson. I love it.

That old bull was in his prime, very skilled & strong, wasn’t his first rodeo with lions. He was constantly alert and agile shifting his position. In this way he also demonstrated how potentially difficult he would have been to bring down to those inexperienced lions.

The buffalo really stood his ground only if he could get some back up..

I must give this buffalo his due. He was one tough cookie. Young and in his prime and certainly no pushover. Totally fearless of the lion pride. Too powerful and resilient to go down without a fight. It's apparentl that the lions were very weary of that buffalo and his massive horns. The buffalo was rearing to horn any of those lions, brave enough to tackle him. The buffalo was instinctively too quick for them. Not one lion even got a scratch at him. Well done big one.👍🦾👊

Superbe animal ! Ce buffle impressionnant de force et de courage tient tête à une dizaine de lions . Malgré la présence d' un lion mâle adulte , les predateurs n' arrivent même pas à l'approcher .
. Plus encore les lions en nombre s'enfuient devant lui. Ce buffle a eu le courage de ne jamais se laisser' impressionné ce qui a provoqué un certain doute chez les predateurs. Finalement on est resté sur notre faim . J'aurais souhaité que cet impressionnant buffle ne tombe pas sous les crocs des lions .

This buffalo was very special he knew the odds were against him but instead of showing fear he let them know that he was ready to fight, so the Lions recognize they were dealing with a tough guy.

I would put my money on the buffalo.

The male Buffalo was intelligent enough to stay near the Tree and its bushes. He was getting less exposed.

Trying to outrun the pride in the open grassland would have surely been its death sentence. Instead, it cleverly remained next to the circular
tree-island. The outcome of the standoff is not shown, but it would not be surprising if eventually the lions lost interest in the buffalo and moved on in search of a softer target.

I think the end was after a while of failed attempts to surprise the buffalo the Lions decided to look for an easier prey because this one was never going to let his guard down. Incredible animal.

My mother called me buffalo when i was lazy. Now i feel proud after watching this video 😂

Buffalo is confident & strong enough

I am surprised that the Lions did not aproach the buffalo together as they usually do but individually. The bull played smart and never showed he was afraid.

At first you'd think the Cape Buffalo wouldn't stand a chance in that situation, completely surrounded by probably one of the largest prides of lions anywhere around there, if it wasn't a couple prides working together for that one opportunity, but although he didnt have the protection of a herd,, because he was probably a solitary Male, he wasn't exactly elderly or an injured animal.
So, the job would have been daunting, to say the least, for a pride of any size, taking down a healthy, relatively young fully grown Bull.
That's over a thousand pounds on high alert lol literally a locomotive, when it's backed into a corner they can be quite formidable, even on their own.
Typically, even in the best of times, lions are opportunistic predators, and they'll certainly take down a fully grown Bull Cape Buffalo, but only if it's at a significant disadvantage, like being stuck in the mud near a watering hole, or after being weakened by the late dry season or a recent injury or illness.
You're FAR more likely to see a pride pick off the older animals, trailing behind the main herd, or a relatively young one who wanders too far from its mother.
But, that particular Buffalo is so obviously in the prime of his life, probably just started mating and is in peak physical condition.
NOT an easy mark, even for the most effective group of Predators, to overcome.
These "standoffs" happen tens of times for every one successful kill, for a pride. And, it's quite essential for their development despite not leading ultimately to a successful conclusion, from their perspective.
And, it gives the Buffalo some necessary confidence, as well. Which he's going to need when he encounters some females so he can impose himself into their situation and pass on his genetic material.
This is why these encounters, even though they don't end in bloody carnage lol are very educational nonetheless. The value is in the standoff, the "dance."
These magnificent creatures have been jockeying around each other like this for millions of years, and each opponent has become highly specialized within their respective evolutionary niches as a result.
It's the circle of life. And it moves US AAAAALLLLL!!! 🎶

The buffalo is smart not to run.
He is massive and stood his ground....showing no fear.

If it was hyenas story would be different as they are good at fighting against lonely buffalo as compared to lion and they take risk by getting near the rear of buffalo and biting it.

I can't even keep up with lions to count to count them. They blend in perfectly with the safari grass.

Bull was not strong only but it was very experience keeping his back at trees avoiding back attack and when it chases it quickly turns back by keeping his back

He is a confident and powerful bull. Instead of running and wasting energy, he stood his ground. On the other hand, this is 1 instance showing how difficult it is for lions to make a successful hunt. Let us support wildlife conservation. Stop canned hunts, stop poaching, leave sufficient natural habitat for wildlife.

This is a true description of defiance in front danger or enemy. Buffalo soldier wasn't prepared to down without a fight and i guess he won the battle at the end. Those sharp and curvy horns were ready to gore a lion or two to death,,,but the lions gradually realised that they're are not going to win against such a monstrous, heavy, alert, defiant, strong and fit bull.

Like a boss! I havent seen buffalo dominating that much against big pride of lions. My guess is there were not that hungry after all so no one was taking much risk...
