@@slothsgonewild7359 blackheads are made up of dirt, bacteria and a build up of dead skin causing the pore to appear larger, whereas sebaceous filaments are just the natural oils coming through the skin (which you should have). Pores don’t open or close. Most important thing to do is to actually moisturize before extraction because what you need is to soften the β€œgunk” for easier extraction.
And guess what is a big culprit for dark looking pores?? Self tanners! You’re just darkening up the top layer of sebum sitting all pretty in every pore.

This is a good tool. As a licensed esthetician it worries me when tools like this are available for anyone to buy as they can damage the face. You do not want to apply a lot of pressure or hold it in one spot for too long. It’s great for weekly use but it’s not going to replace the one your esthetician uses. The professional grade one works a lot better! I have this tool myself and it’s the best.

This seems a little misleading since blackheads typically almost always have to be extracted. I consider this device more for removing sebaceous filaments, which most people think are blackheads and they are not, rather than true blackheads.
    EDIT:
    * I also want to note that I’m not saying Tati or her review is misleading! I’m just noting that a lot of companies market devices like this for blackheads when really they are more for removing dirt and grime from sebaceous filaments. I feel like a lot of people are going to be upset if they buy this and their blackheads are still there. 😳 idk! Just do some research everyone before spending a lot of money on these kind of devices for an issue that most likely won’t be resolved! πŸ™‚

look up videos of people using a BT Micro! It's an ultrasonic skin scrubber similar to this made for professionals, I use it in my spa and it works amazing. Definitely something you should get done by a professional for the best results, and because there is a specific protocol we're taught to get the most out of the tool. Usually 'keeping the skin damp' is a desincrustation solution that is made to loosen up all the sebum & gunk in the pores. But if you look it up you can see that there's a ton that comes out, especially around the nose/t-zone area!

Esthetician here! I use this tool all the time and it really is great for loosening build up in the pores however it may not totally remove the blackheads on its own. During treatments, I usually use this tool and then finish up with manual extractions. I would not recommend manual extractions at home. Additionally, be careful with how much pressure you are applying, you don't want to be pressing too hard as it can damage the skin. I would also recommend always working in an upward direction on the face.
Using the other side of the device to penetrate products into the skin is a game-changer and I would highly recommend using it that way as often as you would like to help serums, moisturizers, hydrating masks, etc get deeper into the skin!

As an esthetician, I think things like this that are available to the public are great! Home care is crucial for keeping your skin looking good, fighting aging, and boosting results of a good facial treatment. Now a lot of skincare tools have a lot of science behind them and require some extra knowledge and sometimes training to be used properly and get the best results, so a lot of times people are wasting money on something that they don't understand how to use or how it works. While this can be something great for home care, it's important to really learn how to use it properly, and its even better when you get regular treatments at the spa that you cannot do to yourself at home, like peels, micro current, galvanic, Microderm, etc. This video demonstrated a really good use of the product and Tati truly understood why its a beneficial device!

Nevertheless i love watching Tati. I think she wants to be closer to her family in Seattle, that's probably one of the biggest reasons, she is trying for a baby (i think she still is) so the core support she needs is closer. I take from what she said before she still will film in her studio in LA after the COVID situation.

Sebaceous filaments are natural and a necessity. Sometimes they can oxidize and turn to a darker color. It is when the pore stretches that it because a blackhead. By seeing an esthetician 1x per month, it can help improve the oxidized sebaceous filaments without causing harm to the skin.

    • @SpookyScaryMakeup

yeah because it doesn't remove blackheads, it removes the sebaceous filaments which are just the natural oils coming through your pores (whereas blackheads are made of dirt, bacteria, etc.) so the more you use it, the more you strip the skin of natural oils which causes it to make extra oil.
