The Chanel Soleil did completely change, the tone is definitely more rosy compared to the original formula which was βbeigeβ with a beautiful olive tan undertone. The formula feels a tad bit dryer and needs to be warmed but a bit on the back of the hand to have a similar consistency to the original.
But this is my observation now working at a Chanel beauty counter.

Not really. Often times they are just marked up more than drugstore makeup. Especially nowadays a lot of drugstore stuff are as good as luxury brands.

A lot of the cost for luxury/designer brand is the fancy packaging!
I have been LOVING the more stripped down yet still high class, more laid back yet still dialed in, more down to earth yet still a Queen that slays, more vulnerable yet still tough as nails Tati that has been evident since her return this past June. As a woman in her early 40s I certainly can appreciate the journey Tati has been on these past couple of years & continues to be on presently. I appreciate her insights, her truths that she shares even when theyβre not positive, her relatability & her rolls with the punches attitude. She is displaying far more strength & resolve than she knows.

I do love makeup. However when Hourglass launched those insanely expensive eyeshadows I woke up to the fact that companies will charge as much as anyone is willing to pay whether their products are worth the price or not.
Agree, I was thinking hmmm maybe make my own pallet then I saw the price and said no thanks. I donβt even wear eye shadow enough
Or perhaps you and I are not their target customers anymore. Hourglass is clearly trying to turn to be a very high-end brand that caters for the niche market (though USD161 for a 5-pan palette isn't that crazy actually. Their skincare line is crazy expensive).
You are just now discovering that the market sets prices partially based on what people are willing to pay? Makeup is a luxury not a necessity. I worked in the industry for years as both a consultant and an artist. In most cases you do get what you pay for, but in many instances one being Chanel and another being LancΓ΄me, you are mostly getting scent and packaging.

I worked for Chanel up until recently⦠they changed the formula of the bronzer in the summer of last year in anticipation of the new colour coming out this year. The base of the product was changed to a hydrogenated coconut oil, the idea being the glide would be a bit better over other complexion products and if it were to be worn on its own that it would be more comfortable. Missed the mark for me also

If you can get your hands on the W7 one, itβs closer to the original Chanel than this one
Oooof. That would be horrible as itβs a very highly cleansing oil and would breakup when applied to skin. Yikes. One would think Chanel would know better. Not really a great cosmetic oil especially for high end.
Well that sucks.... I was going to pull the trigger and buy it.
It is absolutely disgusting that hourglass is charging $160 for those 5 dime sized eyeshadows. They have always been a brand I loved and so respected because they donβt oversaturate the market with new releases, and now I am so disappointed in them about this. Literally heinous that they would think that is okay.
Check out what they are charging for their new(ish) skincare. They have LOST their damn minds.
I found this video incredibly helpful. I also donβt think of it as negative β¦ it is legitimately constructive: you expressed detailed reasons you felt each product was not worth the money it cost (or worth using at all). It would be different if you were against the idea of EVER purchasing a high-end item, but youβre not; youβre on record as enjoying luxury items as well - especially when there is something special about them. I truly appreciate this honesty β¦ and the products that have earned positive reviews from you MORE than balance the scales. Thank you! πππΌβ€οΈ

Tati- you should do a video where you buy and try out recommended products from magazines like Cosmo etc. We dont have cosmopolitan anymore, but I remember they used to have a section where they would show - BIG HIT products or whatever. So maybe that could be a fun video some day :)
The Dior "highlighter" is the worst product if you use it for a highlighter - however, if you apply it lightly allover the face and body and then go out in the sun - it looks like diamonds on your skin. Very ethereal.
I absolutely love it as a highlighter ,it works for me!

It looks horrid on my face and amazing as a body shimmer so that's what I use it for.
Why do we buy things that we donβt need? Because brands advertise how itβs new and innovative and people want to be trendy and in know. Because of this we live in a materialistic and capitalistic society where we are all going down the same path of mass consumerism. Even those of us who know how companies advertise and how they think, we too are sucked into the void of continuous spending. We canβt avoid it. All we can do is consume and tell others our opinions on said product. Which is why I adore watching your channel. You help others realize that just because itβs got fancy packaging does not mean it will be a good product. So thank you for your support in slowing down consumerism by telling others the truth.

Me too. I was so nervous making that purchase lol, but it is fabulous! I wore it all summer with minimal other makeup and I even felt like I could skip blush
I absolutely love the Gucci bronzer. My most used bronzer. Itβs the only thing I use and rely on these days

This is sooooo satisfying. Hearing beauty gurus say save your money on an item is so refreshing. We know makeup is unlimited for you all, itβs your job, so to actually promote passing on pricier items in favor of more affordable options is fantastic.

I love the fails. Even if it is a product that someone out there loves, there are times the formulas change. The Chanel bronzer formula did change. I was saddened by it.
I still have one in the original formula and I canβt get myself to use it anymore.

I will always LOVE Lisa Eldridge lip liners. They're expensive, but the color saturation, ease of application, longevity, and packaging is top notch. π I am soooo beyond ecstatic that she made more colors and made them purchasable as individuals.
Consider donating any makeup you arenβt wanting to Maryβs place, they help displaced and homeless families in the Seattle area. Iβm sure the moms in these shelters would love makeup. β€οΈ
Iβm actually looking to do that myself, but in the NJ/NY . Do you know if they also accept barely used items? Iβm guessing no bc of Covid.. π
@@halfofmyheart3167 I think if you spray the make up it's self with iso alcohol and also wipe the packaging with iso as well they may accept it. Just a general guess though as I'm british and know nothing about these places β€π€£
Tati has always donated make-up to women's shelters, she used to donate boxes and boxes of it at a time because of all the PR she received. Tati is very caring like that, she was careful how much she opened and swatched so things could be donated new. I think she set a great example for others in the beauty community doing that.
@@halfofmyheart3167 you can sanitise eyeshadow apparently with some alcohol spray (I'm sure there must be a KRplus video on how to do it) but anything liquid I'm sure would be a no go nowadays sadly, even if you had been super careful how you tried it. Those things I give to friends if they want them.

Iβm one of those viewers who doesnβt wear makeup but I love home decor and there is a similarity between the two in my mind. Choosing from an array of colours, combining colours, trying to attempt certain looks, and I just find it fun to watch.
Tati you should do a side by side of Morphe x Jacyln Hill Divine Neutrals and Fenty Bomb Posse Mega Mix and Match! They look so similar and the price difference is insane!

Tati this eye look is STUNNING!!!! Also, we need a bun tutorial. I actually do love the Gucci bronzer however I dont think it lives up to the price point, would rather spend my coin on Hourglass.
Funny you say that. I actually was at the store debating between the Gucci or the Hourglass bronzer and luckily I went with Hourglass! Sp happy with the glow it gives me along with the bronzing color. Love it.

Chanel did, in fact, change its cream bronzer formula. As for the Gucci bronzer, I actually LOVE it, which makes me feel better about originally buying it for the packaging π
I think depotting your collection is a good idea, especially when you want to be economic with space. However I also really enjoyed your palette clean out. It was fun. So, just do whatever works for you, I just enjoy your videos and am glad to have you back.

Yeah they did change the formula on chanel bronzer. I believe they added coconut. They brought out a darker shade which still isn't anywhere near exclusive enough.

The Nars radiant creamy concealer was not exactly a fail for me, but when i finally tried it I was kind of "really? it's not that extraordinary, the Maybelline age rewind concealer is way much better". It works and I'll use it, but I won't repurchase it once I use it up

The Chanel bronzer was reformulated. For years Iβve heard how good this bronzer was. I finally bought it and Iβm not sure which formula I got because I bought it right when people were saying that it was changed.

They definitely did change the Chanel formula. Theyβve added coconut oil in it which is one thing which people havenβt enjoyed. Theyβve changed the formula of their loose powder too I believe. On the bright side their bronzing cream now comes in a deeper shade which is good xx

I got a bottle of Augustine Badar The Cream in my advent calendar last year and after using the whole bottle I was totally underwhelmed and for that amount of money per bottle I was π€―. The Β£15/20 K beauty cream did more for me than the AB one which costs Β£125 π±
