It's very ugly, and the fluids don't look very kept up, but the engine runs perfectly.

Most of them are based on the Fiero chassis for the mid-engine, you can swap the motor out though. I have a SC 3800 but a lot of people use a small block V8 as well.

It was the "Iron Duke" 4 cylinder in the 84, and base model 85- that burned, they were recalled and heat shielding was installed, but many burned.
They went to that 2.8 liter V6 in the 85 SE, which I had, it used the original body, it was also used in the 85-88 GT with the Aero Body.

I also had a early Jeep Cherokee with the 2.8 GM V6 and 5 speed. I bought it new and had 276,xxx miles on it when I gave it to my nephew. I never experienced any breakdowns with it and it still had the original starter and alternator on it when I gave it to him. I literally just put tires , shocks , brakes and changed oil and tune ups on it in the 15 years I drove it. It was slow but off road it was amazing
i had 2 fieros in my day one had daytons on it all red one was a gt had the big engine and all holey parts it was a runner frfr id like to see you get one mine was both 85s good year for the gt

The Fiero can be pretty bad ass, nearly 50 50 front to rear weight distribution, and while I was in the Inland Northwest Fiero Club, I saw one with a Cadillac Northstar V8, Cadillac Allante Intake. It was crazy fast and gripped the road like Velcro.
I've had interest in the Prova Designs Countach. Looks great, more modern parts and about 1/8 of the price off a real one.
Imagine that you hit a tree and that you are found dead in that thing...

Having watched it....its actually WAY too shit to be a Lemons car. The amount of work it would take to pass tech would be more then it was to fix the real lambos...

I am a new sub, so don't know how you made out with this build yet. Back in the day we got a steal on one of these kit cars to. If the fiero frame is an 88 GT you get your hands on a 90s Northstar engine, it is a drop and bolt in. The nice thing is the top of the engine can have the Lamo look after taking the Cadillac emblems off and gives the car alot more power. As for the back end of the body, the company that made them is from the California area. Don't know if they are still in business, and I want to say from Santa Cruz area but mightbe wrong it was so long ago I remember ordering out of California for replacement parts. Oh and watching you drive it brings back memories, I am 6ft 4 and driving it was a um chore to say the least. Keep up the great work, you get your hands on some interesting vehicle's.

Call me weird . 😁 I wouldn't sink a buttload of money into it . not my kinda car to restore but I do know how to have fun. I worked at a body shop for about 10 years . in my younger days it wasn't unheard of for us to pull our money and buy a total ... Cut the roof off weld huge bumpers to it and partay. Stuffed animals and naked people came with as needed.

hans hoogendyk b is for build is doing something completely different. He’s putting an ls in a real huracan chassis with other real lambo parts. Imagine taking a crappy fiero with a crappy lambo body kit and putting a real lambo drivetrain in it and other real lambo parts
Somebody has probably already posted this, but just in case - That kit was made by IFG (imaginary fiberglass) that used to be based out of Chino, CA. I had the exact same kit but ended up selling it before I finished it. People talk a lot of crap about kit cars and some of it for good reason - but if you've ever tried to build one (even a full re-body to an existing chassis like this one) it's an extremely challenging project. I learned a ton from my experience with my kit and I have great respect for anyone who get's one of these on the road. Even with all the quirks and sketchy results! I think building kit cars and rat rods is a kindred spirit thing. As long as you're having fun, who cares what the haters think! (o;

The 4-cylinder models were known for fires, and only the first ones. The V-6 fieros never had that problem unless they were neglected. I've owned 6 Fieros and none caught fire.
I remember seeing those back in the 80's when I lived in Virginia Beach. They were fiberglass bodys on Volkswagen bug frames.

A little Fiero trivia. Tavares has mentioned the 2.8 was known to catch fire. That is not really correct. First year Fieros, 1984, had a gap between the rear window and the deck lid. Leaves and debris would gather there and fall down on the front manifold and the leaves would catch fire. Pontiac fixed that by adding a wide piece of weatherstripping between the rear window and deck lid.
This could be pretty dope for next sema for sure.i like the idea.

First time I heard "chinesium" was from aVe's channel. I wonder if tavarish watches his videos....
The v6 was not known for fires, the 4 cylinder Fiero had a few fires (134 fires out of 250K 4 cylinders produced). They had magnesium engine grilles, and when the fires started that magnesium burned eventually and got so hot that it was almost impossible to extinguish, the molten magnesium would literally melt the car.
That website seems to good to be true 😂 I seen a 2017 Genesis Coup with “minimal wear and minor scratches” and 65000 miles for a $150...final cost with shipping was like $1600, that’s a fucking STEAL if everything works properly and there isn’t 10k engine damage that they’re hiding from us lowkey!

That's a 2.8 145 hp V6 85-86 fish gt. It was the 2.5 4 banner that cought fire. Had my 85 gt and it showed many a 5.0 mustang and iroc z who was fast in the quarter. 1/2 mile they would blue past, but 1/4 couldn't touch it
