there seems to be some sort of expectation that the engine in back provides enough weight for traction for the rear wheels upon launch. If any lambo engineers are watching then they're crying.

It was the cheapest way to go and get it done. Replacing all that stuff and sourcing proper rims is obviously out of budget,especially with the bunch of other projects. When he gets to a million+ subscribers he will more than likely retain things the right way,give him time.

I have a 3500 Mile Gallardo Manual as part of a collection and I have autocrossed it and it handled like a 4wd truck and when you remove the traction control and apply the power it will spin in a completely unpredictable way. I can't drive the car to the extent that it was designed without A. Getting a huge ticket or B. Dieing. I did the 2wd conversion last year and i will be racing it for the first time this Sunday. So I choose to drive it calmly on the street and track it once in a while. Now with the conversion when I over power the tires I have an idea of where its going.

Except in his new garage, Most of the tools are from sponsors. So, they are probably quite a bit higher quality than Harbor Freight. Most of the Gallardo build was Harbor Freight, though.

For the life of me I don't know why you would sacrifice factory handling features rather then fix the tire size.

@@ltkernel8019 Because the tire sizes were aftermarket at the time the Fast & Furious movie in question was being filmed. You'd have to pay a pretty penny to be able to afford the tires and rims fitted on the original Murcielagos.

killerzoid 88 ehhhhhhhhhhh, idk I prefer AWD for better control, but in a lambo it’s prolly way different due to a super low center of gravity and the AWD prolly sucks in this car...

I think it's more movie accurate without it because that was kind of an oversight with incorrect diameter ratios which basically would have burnt a portion of the car up. Bigger wheels looks like while retaining steering in the front I'm guessing it will be able to put down some good grip with larger than stock rear wheels.

@@funnydubby6401 I think removing the AWD is just a bad idea all is going to do is to make into an undrivable show car like the Gallardo that has disappeared from channel and it generally pisses me off when people think that that they know better than engineers who spent years developing a product. I like Freddie he does great work but am not convinced with this one so far also the channel has been all over the place with too many cars that are not getting any work done

thanos mousios That doesn’t seem like the greatest argument in this case. Most car enthusiasts change up their cars. That doesn’t mean they think they know more than the engineers that designed it, it just means they want something than the way it was designed or are willing to pay more than the bean counters were willing to put into a car because we all know most cars aren’t just designed by engineers, there’s always people above them telling them where they need to cut costs.
As far as converting it to RWD, who gives a shit, it isn’t hurting anything and he would have really had to change the wheels to avoid fucking it up and he wants to keep it looking like it did in the movie so this seems like the pretty obvious choice. Lamborghini reintroduced the Gallardo in RWD after realizing a lot of people prefer it that way.

@@nikrbawker , he can of course do what every he pleases, and its fun to watch him do it regardless. however, slight increase in diameter in rear wheels isn't going to come close to compensating for the amount of traction lost from removing AWD. the loss of sprung weight is also going to hurt traction in the rear wheels. removing un-sprung weight buy replacing all 4 wheels with much nicer, lighter wheels of equal size would have been a significantly better move with this car.

@@tavarish No worries, didn't see it installed when you were tightening down the nut on the driver's side.

@@tavarish Even Nylocks use washers behind them. Unless specified. So he's not half wrong

@@tavarish The nylon is for anti vibration so it does not cause the nut to back off, washer are also needed to spread the load what a nylock can't do and protects the surface

Wouldn't shifting weight to the rear make understeer more likely, not oversteer? Of course, I'm sure there will be plenty of power oversteer from the rwd...

The point of buying a movie car is so it looks like it did from the movie. Unfortunately, that means using wheels that would harm the stock differential, but with the RWD conversion, it eliminates that concern and makes the car much lighter, as well as a better handler. Also, the stock weight distribution shouldn't change much at all, since the car's stock exhaust weighs almost as much as the front differential components.

@@autotempest Depending on the way the car is driven. I try not to overdrive my cars, so I'm really not concerned about it.

Definitely not faster. Definitely much slower in acceleration with half the traction. Also, increasing the rear weight bias is not good for handling. Great for infantile burnouts, bad for performance in general.

@Lassi Kinnunen Unlikely. 150 lbs is irrelevant to top speed compared to aerodynamic forces at 200 mph, and there are exactly zero circumstances where 4WD won't beat 2WD in acceleration. Again, 150 lb is nothing compared to doubling the traction in a high-powered car.

Ha ha lol what? 😂 awd is always slower on track only advantage from dig drag, low speed corners under 90 kmh and its more safe for daily use but no way faster in track and straigth line cause will always be lighter (same hp same car awd vs rwd) due the less differential approx 200kg lghter. You also can build awd and rwd drift cars its not rwd exclusivity.

@@alekosalekadis6095 put the awd and 2wd version on a track and see which wins. Its all about grip in the corners and lambos are heavy lumps to drag round a track.
A pro racing driver would see the 2wd advantage but joe part time racer will long run out of talent in a 2wd version before the benefit of the lighter 2wd version becomes apparent.

Iwill answer you with Porsche : Porsche 918 is slower around the nurburgring from gt2 rs but also from gt3 rs witch have half of 918 horsepower. Awd advantage its to slow speed corners under 90 kmh and dead stop drag due to traction. Even lamborghinis after certain km/h from awd become rwd cut the torque from front wheels because are better to corners. If course in daily use awd is WAY safer than 2wd thats fact.

Also 2wd have less train losses.
