Klaus at Top Hydraulics here - we are the ones who supplied the hoses for the engine cover cylinders. Glad to see that you got rid of the "top not secured" warning in the dash. About the engine cover barely lifting and then stopping: is it possible that the two travel sensors on the cylinder got reversed? Both sensors are identical. One of them changes its AC impedance after the cylinder shaft has just extended about 1/2". If you actually have the sensor for the other end of the cylinder plugged in here, then the computer (soft top control module) would assume that the engine cover is open all the way.
This sure needs to get bumped to the top....

@@roughestimate6031 He is a smart cookie, will probably figure it out on his own. One more thing that he probably knows, if the controller gets too many error messages or illogical inputs, then it can behave kind of freeze up. Disconnecting the negative battery pole (and discharging the capacitors in the controller, which is sped up by shorting negative and positive cable after one of them has been remved from the battery) will usually take care of that overload. We had to do that a couple of times when we made a video of removing and replacing all the hydraulics for the Gallardo top and had the top in an illogical state during filming. On my hardtop AMG, the top will not go up or down without the car running. Acc mode does not work.

Folks tend to forget these vids aren't made out of the goodness of one's heart....(Sorry Tav).....There IS a little thing called monetization. KRplus is no different than Television, really. Ad revenue drives most of the content. I assume he's making a fair wage for what he's doing.

I had an Audi A4 Cabrio that had a similar issue. It would go up just a bit then no further and sometimes go back down and sometimes not. I had to replace the motor on hydraulic pump for the top. The communtator contacts started to get really dirty. I sanded them down a little bit with some 000 grit sand paper to clean them up bit and that worked for a bit but they got dirty again really quickly. Ordered a new motor replaced that and now more problems. Good luck!! Love what you are doing here.

Two weeks ago my BMW e46 convertible top did the same as your lambo top, I just changed the hydraulic motor pump relay and it works again!

Look at tge diagram for the 09 AUDI r8 spider basily use the same system
I said it last time about your battery being drained just from sitting. You should take a voltmeter, set it to measure amps and take off one lead to the battery and WHILE THE CAR IS OFF AND DO NOT TRY AND START IT (or you will blow up your voltmeter), hook up the amp meter in series and see if the car has some sort of parasitic drain. may be an electrical problem. sometimes it doesn't happen right away but it doesn't hurt to check.
also make sure to close the doors, shut off any lights and the key far away from the car. the car has to be 100% off for this to work. wait like 10 min after shutting everything off to make sure.
use a cheap multimeter incase the parasitic draw is too large. you can fry the multimeter id over 10 amps for long. maybe add a low amp fuse just in case.

Not sure about Lamborghini, but my 2013 Chevy says it’s 2006 every time the battery dies or I disconnect the battery, and I know from working on BMW’s, they show 2000 when the battery dies. I think it’s just a default setting
From an auto tech, with your new paint use Saran Wrap. When working over the bumper in the front like that you will progressively scratch your new paint (unless you went with a clear bra xpel ect. And I have not see the episode or noticed) it will save you down the road
Try finding the hold down lock mechanism that holds down the top,... check to see if it receives power input when you hit the switch to close the top. From the sounds it made when you kept hitting the switch, the hydraulics were "trying" then the sounded like they experienced pressure that ended the process. Basically seems like the lock isn't opening. Good luck

Top could be glitching out due to voltage sag? Try top with engine running at fast idle with fresh battery with battery charger connected. Make sure top system has perfect electrics

Some soft tops have a hardtop roof cover. Does Lamborghini have these too?
Perhaps there is an aftermarket roof.
As you go into the winter, once you fix your roof to go up, you can add the hardtop over it and the softop acts as insulation.

Freddy, got a question, could this problem in the top operation, be in the hydraulic cylinders/ or pumps or both themselves? seem to work downwards, but not upwards obviously.
Have you checked your work you did under the rear hatch? I recall there being mechanisms back there that may effect the roof, from looking at the video it looks like something is not 100 in the right position? it locks down fine, but when going up it is straining.
I'd cry and go into the fetal position if I had to teardown that car as much as you have.
I don't think your allowed to call this your cheap lambo anymore in your videos from here on out...
It seems like the top is meeting some resistance. You can see that it is trying to lift it but when it hangs up the system meets resistance and stops as a safety to keep the pump from burning up. Have you tried to start the top and pull up on it at the same time to help the rear cover lift or see if it's not unlatching somewhere? Might take two people to try as you only get a few seconds between hitting the switch and it failing. Just a suggestion hope it helps.
maybe there's some kind of reset process for lambo? if i'm correct it has two buttons....turn on engine,press both buttons or for first time try pressing only roof up button and did you check maybe there's a leak or something,maybe hydraulic fluid is missing?

As a disclaimer I have no experience with Lambo convertibles but some positioning systems need to be calibrated, meaning they need to set a zero position and fully engage position, so the control unit has it's bearings, you'll have to figure out also which one is the zero position, fully open or fully closed. Is there a system calibration option? Have you tried to manually get the roof closed and then see what the roof does when you tell it to close?
