      @TheEvanovitch 5 년 전 +12

      @@tavarish if you need to pull the engine anyway, might as well check whats wrong with it. if the entire bank is low on compression, chances are very high that the fault is somewhere in the cilinder head, seems very implausible that all the pistonrings on just one side of an engine gave up. new head is alot cheaper than a different engine. even if you pull it apart and it seems unfixable, you can still order the engine. maybe its just something like a blocked intake plenum, cant compress air much if it doesnt get any air. to me it seems like this engine is easily fixable so not to be rude but i think youre wasting alot of money.

    The paint "mismatch" is due to material differences. Metal panels are generally painted using an electrostatic process these days. When doing so, the "flakes" in the paint will tend to arrange themselves in a certain repeating pattern just due to the electrical charge and the shape of the flakes. The plastic panels, however, can't be coated with this method because, well, they are plastic. So they are sprayed. When spraying the flaked paint, the flake arrangement will be completely random unlike the paint applied using the electrostatic method.
    So in the end, it's not really a different shade, its the arrangement of the flaking that makes it look slightly different..

      @@funkyzero he is right though, even if you are correct in your information about electrolysis painting. Bentley usually hand paints all of their cars, because of cost and because of the "handmade" speil. And the jackass who says it isn't an art when it comes to spraying metallic flake paint on a car, more the less plastic vs. metal, is making it very clear he doesn't know a damn thing about paint and body work. Metallic and pearls are the hardest thing to do when painting anything.

    • @funkyzero
      @funkyzero 5 년 전 +1

      @@Gottiline_Ace a reasonable assessment. wouldn't be surprised if I found out Bentley hand-sprayed their cars.
      That being said, that fact alone can result in even more visual mismatch (between batches, not single car panels though).
      My point was that the flake can make a dramatic difference and you have to be a near master at blending to get it to work most times... leading many to simply re-paint the whole dang car and get it over with. things get even worse when you throw is slight fading next to fresh sprayed and then highly buffed paints. The offsets can be dramatic.
      Judging by the condition of this car, I'd re-spray the entire thing unless I was just looking for a quick flip. Even then, a proper re-spray can dramatically add to the selling price if done cleanly

They should be a minimum of LR101 - 825kg, whereas the fitted load rating is LR98 - 750kg. 'T' should worry more about the correct performance rating rather than what they look like (it's a worrying trait that appears all too often).

I have a W8 (not the same, but the same) had pretty much the exact same symptoms and CELs (air intake leak, implausible signal brake booster, one bank of cylinders leaning out and misfiring), replaced 2 vacuum hoses on the PCV system with $6 worth of hose, cleared the codes and it's good as new. And it's got 230k miles on it. Don't dump the engine just because it's got a vacuum leak. or if you do, let me know. I'm nearby and I'll come take it off your hands.

      Your statement makes sense but he is doing KRplus videos and making a living off it so he needs to be quick about things, that lambo took forever but people need to realize when a car has a bunch of issues it just doesn't get fixed over night or over the weekend. He probably doesn't want to mess around and waste time. I'm with the rest of you, us poor folk would have to first see if we could fix what we had first them move forward from there. Still gotta admit this guys channel is really good if your into trying to fix unique cars us men love to drive.

    My neighbor has one of these bentleys and the engine threw a rod or had some catastrophic failure. He put an LSX chevy motor in the car with a GM 6 speed transmission and now the car runs and sounds like a hotrod vette lol.

      Now that's how you make German crap (used to be British, owned by RR until 1980, but they are now owned by Volkswagen) good!

      @Terry Melvin How can u even compare XJS to Continental? There is nothing similar. U can easily throw any engine into xjs and it will work fine as long as it fits into its place. There is 40 years of development between those cars, that is long time in car industry...
