Now, in the song “Dorothea”, the narrator is Dorothea’s ex / old hookup who resides in their hometown and wonders how the now famous Dorothea is doing in Hollywood. The narrator probably went to the same school as well because they mention a little moment they had with Dorothea under the bleachers.

i think of my childhood best friend when i hear this song. we grew up together, and we did everything together. we were as close as sisters. a few years back, she moved to a different state, and for a while, i still saw her every other weekend when she was in town with her dad. we had such a strong bond that even her moving states didn’t separate us. the thing that did separate us though, was us simply growing apart as we got older. in my opinion, i think that will always hurt worse than having a big fallout, because you don’t really have a reason to not be friends anymore, but you just aren’t. i still love her more than anything. i still know her better than she does, i still know her house as well as my own, i can still read her as well as i could when we were still friends. i always wish she would come back to me. i only see her through mutual friends online. i see all of her new friends, her new school, her new hobbies, her new town. i just hope she knows that i will always be here, and that i will always be a major part of her childhood. i miss my dorothea, and i love my dorothea more than anything, and i just hope she knows that.
